How do I know if I have hotel room WiFi?

More and more hotels in sun destinations are offering some form of Internet connectivity for their guests. This usually involves a small room with one or two computers connected to web browsers.  While hotel room WiFi isn’t popular in many sunny destination, WiFi is often available in certain areas – like the lobby or certain public rooms.  High-speed wired internet in most business hotels in North America and Europe is still a chargeable item if they have it, and wired access in room in sun destinations is still rare.  Nevertheless, a wireless signal typically from the lobby area to your laptop, iphone, ipad, blackberry or kindle is the cheapest way to stay in touch with home.
