The Bachelor’s Guide To Las Vegas Vacations… After Dark

Congrats, you’re getting married! But first thing’s first, your bachelor party. Las Vegas vacations are by far the #1 way to celebrate that last hurrah with the guys. You may say you’re innocent now, but Sin City can easily convert you … at least for one night.

If you’re planning a bachelor party trip to Las Vegas, do yourself a favour and stay at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino. This hotel offers the widest variety of venues within a hand’s reach, so you can easily visit three or four places in one night. Here are our top 5 “bachelor” things to do in Vegas:

Sin City Comedy

Wet your appetite with a trip to the Sin City Comedy, located right at Planet Hollywood. It’s a stand-up comedy show mixed with burlesque brought to you by the creative ladies of Sin City Dollz. A rotating cast of America’s top comedians, like John Bizarre and Butch Bradley, will keep you in stitches with gut-busting laughter. Sin City Comedy runs daily at 9:00.

Marc Savard Comedy Hypnosis

Keep the laughs going with a visit to the Marc Savard Comedy Hypnosis show, which runs almost every night at V Theater, also conveniently located at Planet Hollywood. Savard uses his incredible abilities to hypnotize volunteers and use them in his show in the most unexpected (and always entertaining) ways.

The Luxor

Surely if you’re planning a Las Vegas vacation (especially if you’re going with the boys), you’ve also heard of the “Strip’s biggest tease” – Fantasy ladies at the Luxor hotel offer one of the hottest shows available in the Sin City. Located just a few blocks from Planet Hollywood, Fantasy runs nightly at 10:30.

Gallery Nightclub

Any respectable bachelor vacationing in Vegas should visit a night club. There are many excellent night clubs along the Vegas Strip, but you need only look to the heart of Planet Hollywood again, where you’ll find sexy go-go dancers at the Gallery Nightclub. Golden chandeliers and glamorous wall prints create a luxurious atmosphere, inviting you to the real nightlife experience that waits on the massive dance floor. Be sure to check out the Pussycat Dolls Burlesque Saloon, a must-see part of the Gallery Nightclub for every bachelor.

Pleasure Pit

Had enough of eye candy for one night? Head on back to the hotel and check out the Pleasure Pit casino, also located at Planet Hollywood. Here you’ll enjoy sassy, smiling dealers in elegant lingerie inviting you to ante up. Kick back, have a cocktail, and let your mind play back the Las Vegas vacations memories you’ve just created.

And yes, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas – we won’t tell! But if you’re willing, we’d love to hear about your favourite hotspots in Vegas. Leave us a comment below. Ladies, we want to hear from you, too!

Jerusalem, Israel

There’s no better time to rekindled your faith with an unforgettable tour of the holy land of Israel. It is the place of Jesus’ birth about 2,000 years ago, but evidence of the holy land itself dates back more than 5,000 years! Christians from all over the world have walked where Jesus walked, prayed where He prayed and witnessed the wonder of His teachings. Now you can retrace their footsteps by visiting these 12 holy land destinations of Israel.

Cana in Galilee

Located in North Palestine, Cana in Galilee is reported to be the place where Jesus performed his first miracle (turning water into wine at a dinner feast). It is also believed that he performed a healing here as well. Visit Cana in Galilee’s awe-inspired Greek Orthodox and Roman Catholic churches.

Capernaum

Capernaum is where Jesus preached in the synagogue, performed several miracles, and lived during a short period in his life. The focal point of Jesus’ Galilee ministry (located on the Sea of Galilee) and the location of the awe-inspiring marble synagogue, Capernaum is truly a site to behold.

Jordan River

This is the most prominent river in Israel, and it connects the Dead Sea with the Sea of Galilee. Jesus was baptized in this very river by John the Baptist.

Nazareth

Basilica of Annunciation

Jesus spent much of his childhood here with Joseph and Mary. Visit Nazareth today to see the Basilica of the Annunciation, consecrated in 1964 by Pope Paul VI, as well as the Church of St. Gabriel, the Synagogue Church, and Mary’s Well.

Bethsaida

Also known as “The House of the Fisherman,” Bethsaida is the place where Jesus healed and preached. It is also the location where He cured a blind man (Matthew 11:21). His disciples Philip, Peter and Andrew lived here as well. Today you can explore excavations of the city He often visited.

Bethlehem

Basilica of Nativity

Translated to “House of Bread” (Hebrew) or the “House of Meat” (Arabic), Bethlehem is where Jacob’s wife Rachel passed away while giving birth to Benjamin (Genesis 35: 18-19, 48:7). It is the birth place of King Davidand, of course, where Jesus of Nazareth was born. Visit Bethlehem to see The Church of Nativity, the Basilica of Nativity, and the Shepherds’ Fields.

Jericho

Jericho, along with Damascus, is known as “the oldest cities on earth.” Jericho was overtaken by the children of Israel with the help of Joshua (Joshua 4:5-6), and it was a crucial location for prophets, Elisha and Elijah. Visit beautiful, sacred monasteries located throughout the city as well as Elisha’s Church and the archaeological tel of ancient Jericho.

Jerusalem

The centre of Christianity, Jerusalem was declared the capital of Israel in 1949. Jesus had a ministry in Jerusalem that included miracles in Bethany and Bethesda, and the Old City walls were built by Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent during the 16th century. For nearly 20 years, Jerusalem was divided between Israel and Jordan. In 1967 it was reunified and named the eternal capital of the Jewish people.

The Dead Sea

The Dead Sea

At 416 meters below sea level, the Dead Sea is the lowest place on the planet! It also boasts the title of “saltiest body of water on earth” with more than eight times more salt than the ocean. Today visitors can enjoy the many spas available at the Dead Sea.

On the Sea of Galilee, Tel Hadar is where Jesus fed 5,000 people (Matthew 14), and later performed the second miracle of feeding 4,000 people (Matthew 15). Tel Hadar is just south of Bethsaida, which was the home of several disciples of Jesus.

The Netherlands: “Divorce Hotel” Weekend Getaway

Seriously? Just when I thought I’d heard it all! Sure, people are now having “divorce” parties instead of bachelor parties. And once upon a not so long time ago, we saw a reality show where couples with relationship woes tempted themselves by vacationing on an island surrounded by rock-hard abs, bikini-wearing hotties and copious amounts of alcohol. It saddens me that this is what classifies as quality entertainment today. But I digress.

So just when I thought I’d seen it all, a news release lands in my inbox to announce a new type of hotel that offers couples a weekend retreat — from each other!

Located in The Netherlands, it is called the Divorce Hotel. Over the course of just three days, unhappily married couples can check into the hotel, while checking out of their respective marriages. The getaway package includes access to one of six boutique hotels in the Netherlands, luxury accommodations (albeit separate accommodations), and your choice of lawyer to help finalize the details. The hotel even provides mediators and psychologists.

“They arrive on Friday and we give them everything they need to leave Sunday with their divorce papers,” said Founder Jim Halfens. “Divorces can cost a lot of money and a lot of time. Here, it’s done in three days.”

I know you’re wondering – how much does this special little weekend cost? Anywhere between $2,500 and $10,000. Basically, the messier the divorce, the more expensive the getaway. Factor in complicated distribution of assets, custody battles and psychological pick-me-ups, the price continues to climb.

The silver lining is that it’s all done in just three days. Halfens said, “The marriage failed, and that’s negative. But it’s also a new start, and that’s positive. The only thing we can do is offer a better solution than fighting for years.”

Halfens now has his sights set on the US, which makes sense I suppose, to bring his hotels into a society wherein 50% of all marriages end in divorce. Halfens even went so far as to invite Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher, who’ve been on the outs since November last year. But guess what … they didn’t respond. Go figure.

“We once had a guy that said, ‘I want a bottle of champagne,’ and did a toast to his wife,” said Halfens. “He said, ‘I had a wonderful time with you, and I wish you a nice future. Please wish for me a nice future as well.’” I can’t help but wonder what her response would have been!

And coming full circle back to the very beginning of my post, Halfens said he hopes to launch a reality TV show about Divorce Hotel.

Well of course he does.

“It’s time to show people this is possible,” he said. “And obviously it would be a great television show.”

Obviously? Not sure how obvious it is, but that’s just my opinion. I’d love to hear your opinion on the new Divorce Hotels – please share your comments below!
