Below Average Resort
I would like to start by saying that this was our 4th visit to Jamaica in the past ten years and our first stay at The Bahia. We have stayed at other hotels that are in the same class as the Bahia.
Positives about the Bahia:
- The grounds are well kept
- The pool is large and the area is nice
- The resort is kept clean
- The Beach (although man made) is quite nice
The negatives of the resort :
- The food and drink [... read more]supply - they were out of essentials needed to make drinks for the entire duration of our stay which really limited what drinks we could order. We have not experienced this anywhere else previously.
- We sat down at an a la carte at 7:00 pm and did not receive our main course until about 10:00 pm.
- They ran out of wine at the a la cartes or refused to pour a second glass.
Throughout the stay, we were under the impression that the resort intentionally offered sub par service, hoping that you would pay more to upgrade to the Luxury side. It was almost like the resort chose to operate in the manner, it did not seem like the servers were intentionally offering poor service because they appeared to be doing their best.
As I mentioned, we have been to Jamaica numerous times, have always enjoyed the people and the country but this resort was below expectations (and our expectations were not very high). We are all pretty easy going people and have experienced slow service but this visit to the Bahia left a bad taste in our mouths and although we will likely return to Jamaica, we will not stay at the Bahia. We made the most of the holiday because at the end of the day we were on vacation and out of the cold but there were a lot of people not satisfied with the resort. It was the first time we had been to Jamaica where we left feeling we did not get value for the price.
Tropical and elegance all in one package
We've never had a more wonderful vacation. The resort had the feel of the tropics but was so elegant wuth its marble walkways and tigerwood walkways. The water features in the evening were so beautiful. All of the staff were so friendly and helpful. It was evident they wanted to make sure you were enjoying yourself. The food was amazing. We really couldn't have ask for more. I hope Iberostar appreciates their staff. They truly make the difference between a good stay vs. an amazing stay. The grou [... read more]nds were meticulously taken care of. I would be more than happy to return.
Trish and John
My wife and I both loved Occidental Cozumel. The snorkeling off the resort beach is fantastic seen yellow rays, squid, barracuda and countless other fish. I was snorkeling at least 3 hours a day. If you have a chance to snorkel the reefs (afternoon excursion to two different reefs do it you won't regret it)(shark, dolphins, eagle rays and sting ray all in one afternoon) The resort is small and is in a beautiful setting...wildlife everywhere nature lovers will love it here..The food is OK. Small buf [... read more]fets that are understaffed. This is not a wild party resort. The booze flows freely and everyone was having a good time. You always get a few people that complain. Try the roof top pizza the cozumel pizza was are favorite (Seafood). We met with many return travelers that said the resort is improving all the time......I think we will return also.
We had an awesome time at the resort. The grounds were well kept with amazing wildlife running around. The pool areas were very nice and kept clean and free of debrie. All the staff on site were very helpfull and curtious. Rooms also were very nice and the cleaning staff friendly and efficient. I wold recommend this resort highly for all ages. The alacart dining was nice many varieties of food. The specialty restaurants were very nice as well.
The only recommendatin I hae is that they sh [... read more]ould change the poicy for men having to wear long pants and full toed shoes, were women are allowed to wear what they wish . Felt this to be a bit unfair for some of the women were very poorly dressed as if they did not care that they were in a restaurant were all ages are present.
Beautiful resort with amazing pools
This place is massive, but they have trolleys and golf carts to get you from place to place. Beautiful beach is only a few steps away from Ambar Blue. The guest rooms were not consistent though, as friends we booked with got a room that did not have the same amenities as us. All-inclusive drink service was incredible and plentiful. The buffets were acceptable, but not overly memorable. The All-A-Carte restaurants were better.
