| 1 | Depart Overnight flight to Athens. |
| 2 | Arrive Athens Make your own way to the Hotel then the rest of the day is free to explore Athens at your leisure. This evening we meet at 7.30pm for an introduction briefing and welcome drink with your Tour Manager and fellow travellers. |
| 3 | Athens Sightseeing We begin this morning with a half day sightseeing tour of the Acropolis, Temple of Zeus and the first Olympic Stadium with an expert local guide. This afternoon is yours to explore on your own. Perhaps visit the National Archeological Museum, wander the Plaka area or, at night, visit the Acropolis sound and light show. Discover Greek food and folklore at an evening of traditional Greek dancing! (B) |
| 4 | Athens to Olympia Today we stop and see the impressive Corinth Canal as we cross the Peloponnese and continue to the Palace of Agamemnon at Mycenae. Walk through the Gate of the Lions and see the sinister beehive tomb before arriving in Olympia. Join our local guide as we visit the site of the Olympic Stadium where the games were first held in 776 BC.(B,D) |
| 5 | Olympia to Delphi We start the day early to cross the Corinthian Gulf by ferry and drive to Delphi, the sacred town of antiquity. We visit the site, the Temple of Apollo and the treasury of the Athenians. (B,D) |
| 6 | Delphi to Kalambaka We drive over the foothills of Mount Parnassus taking the scenic route towards Lamia and onto Kalambaka. We visit one of the dramatic monasteries of Meteora built high above the rock pinnacles. (B,D) |
| 7 | Kalambaka to Mykonos This morning drive through the fertile region of Thessaly, once described as the 'bread basket' of Ancient Greece to Thermopylae to see the memorial to Leonidas and his brave Spartans. Arriving into Athens, we transfer to Piraeus and our high speed ferry to Mykonos.(B) |
| 8 | Mykonos at leisure Make the most of the islands' myriad of pleasures. Enjoy Greek tavernas with traditional dancing or eat in Little Venice as you watch the sun go down. Mykonos provides it all. Excellent beaches, great shopping or trips to nearby islands. Take a trip to the island of Delos, birthplace of Artemis and Apollo. | 13 | Cairo, Excursion to Giza/ Sakkara - Aswan First to the Egyptian Museum where our guide will take us back to ancient Egypt and the time of the Pharaohs. From here to Giza for a guided tour of the Great Pyramids and Sphinx. In the evening, we board our overnight train for Aswan. Overnight train (B,D). Note, no single supplement. |
| 14 | Aswan Sightseeing Arriving in Aswan mid morning we view the unfinished obelisk and visit the High Dam. We sail on a felucca to the Botanical Gardens before joining our cruise ship for a sumptuous lunch. Nile Cruise (B,L,D) |
| 15 | Nile Cruise - Aswan to Edfu This morning, why not join our fantastic optional excursion to Abu Simbel - the most complete example of ancient Egyptian architecture. Built by Pharoah Ramses II more than 3,000 years ago, the temples were moved over a period of years to their new site safely above the waters of Lake Nasser. After lunch, we cruise to Kom Ombo to view this unique temple, shared by two Gods. Continuing, we reach Edfu, where we spend the night on board. Nile Cruise (B,L,D) |
| 16 | Nile Cruise - Edfu to Luxor Today starts with a visit to Egypt's best preserved temple dedicated to Horus, the Falcon God. Casting off, we spend the afternoon on board watching Upper Egypt slip by. We arrive in Luxor (the ancient city of Thebes) in time to view the temple of Luxor. Nile Cruise (B,L,D) |
| 17 | Luxor Sightseeing We visit the Valley of the Kings where King Tutankhamun was buried. We continue to the necropolis of Deir El-Bahari and the Colossos of Memnon. | 18 | Luxor to Cairo This morning we board our flight to Cairo. Upon arrival we head for the fascinating Bazaar Khan El Khalily and the opportunity for some last minute bargain hunting.(B) |
| 19 | Cairo Sightseeing First to Sakkara to see the oldest pyramid in the world, the Step Pyramid. We continue on to the Citadel, Alabaster Mosque and Sultan Husan Mosque. Tonight we have a final get together. (B,D) |
| 20 | Cairo to Athens After breakfast, you'll return to Cairo airport to fly back to Athens. Your tour ends at Athens Airport. (B) |
