| 3 | Dubrovnik sightseeing and at leisure We’ll enjoy a morning’s sightseeing in this medieval city. Our walking tour in the traffic free old city, reveals a great history. We'll see the Rector's Palace, the City Walls, Onofrio's fountain and the Franciscan and Dominican monasteries. An UNESCO World Heritage site, Dubrovnik and its five bastions are sure to cast a spell on you! The remainder of your day is at leisure. You may choose to explore the lively market, enjoy lunch in a seaside restaurant or simply relax in the atmosphere of this resort. (Buffet Breakfast) |
| 4 | Dubrovnik – Split Today an exhilarating drive along the cypress-lined Adriatic coast brings us to the port-city of Split. Founded by the Emperor Diocletian in 305AD when he built a palace for his retirement and as the palace grew so did the city. With a local guide we will enjoy an in-depth sightseeing tour of this gracious city by the sea. We will visit Diocletian’s Palace – a well-preserved fortress that was once encircled by 750-foot walls. Highlights include remains of the original palace, a colonnaded square and the Temple of Jupiter. Then, after our Highlight Dinner, of local specialties, our Tour Director will take us for a stroll in the old town and share a Hidden Treasure with us all! (Buffet Breakfast / Highlight Dinner) |
| 5 | Split – Plitvice We drive through the Croatian countryside to one of Europe’s most impressive National Parks – Plitvice Lakes, which was granted Heritage site status by UNESCO in 1979. The beauty of the National Park lies in its sixteen lakes, inter-connected by a series of waterfalls, and set in deep woodland populated by deer, bears, wolves, boars and rare bird species. We will visit the park before checking in to our hotel this evening, where we will enjoy dinner. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner) |
| 6 | Plitvice – Lake Bled (2 nights) This morning we travel first to Karlovac which is situated at the confluence of four rivers and then we cross the border into Slovenia. Then we make our way to the lake which has been described as ‘paradise on earth’ – the idyllic Lake Bled which enjoys wonderful views of the surrounding Julian Alps and Karawanken Mlountains. It was here that the Yugoslavia Royal Family once had a summer home and also it was the location of the summer residence of President Tito. Natural springs, abundant sunshine and clear fresh air have always been the main characteristics of the region and led to the establishment of the first wellness centre in Bled in 1895. We have the chance to benefit from this healthy environment for the next two nights. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner) |
| 7 | Lake Bled at leisure This morning we will enjoy an orientation tour of this beautiful resort. Afterwards with time at leisure perhaps take an optional excursion to the famous caves at Postojna or delight in a cruise on the glassy lake. This evening why not enjoy some Slovenian cuisine in a lakeside restaurant? (Buffet Breakfast) |
| 8 | Lake Bled – Ljubljana – Zagreb (2 nights) A short drive brings us to the Slovenian capital – Ljubljana, known as the 'White City' because of the many Baroque elegant buildings. Our city tour with a local guide shows us the Opera house, the cathedral of St. Nicholas, the National Museum and the medieval castle which sits on the hill above the town as an ancient guardian. We see the many leafy parks of the city and the Ljubjanica River whose banks are covered with riverside cafes and restaurants beneath their coloured umbrellas. Then we drive along the motorway back into Croatia and the capital – Zagreb. Maybe start to explore the old town tonight and enjoy dinner in a picturesque bistro? (Buffet Breakfast) |
| 9 | Zagreb sightseeing and at leisure In the morning sightseeing of this old Central European city, with its baroque atmosphere in the Upper Town, picturesque open – air markets and great shopping. Sightseeing of the Upper Town and Lower Town includes the Stone Gate, which was reconstructed in 1760 and hasn’t been touched since, the Marijina Uznesenje Cathedral founded in 1093, the 14th century church of St. Marco, the Presidents Palace and the Parliament. This evening we will get together with our newly-made friends for a delicious Farewell Dinner, on the last night of our tour. (Buffet Breakfast / Farewell Dinner) |
