Travel expert Julie Bond spent a week at Beaches Negril to renew her wedding vows with her children by her side. The Sandals/Beaches brand are known for their “weddingmoons,” providing the best service and beautiful settings for destination weddings, honeymoons, and vow renewals. Julie describes her perfect vacation at Beaches Negril, a 4.5 star resort in Jamaica:
I always wanted a destination wedding, but it didn’t work out that way. So my wonderful husband made it up to me by suggesting we take our kids to the Beaches Resort in Negril, Jamaica to renew our wedding vows for our 10th anniversary. The entire experience was seamless. The process to book the ceremony was quick and easy, the service at the resort was unparalleled, and the ceremony itself was – in one word – perfect. The transfer from the airport to the resort was an easy, beautiful drive along the coast. Upon our arrival, we were escorted to the Concierge lounge where, after enjoying a lovely tropical beverage and some cookies, the Concierge showed us where all the amenities were and explained how the events of the week would go. We met with Tresh, our vow-renewal coordinator, to go over the details of the wedding day. She was amazing. She answered all of our questions, saw to our every need and really made us feel special. We were then shown to our room (room 108), which was stunning to say the least. It didn’t take us long to get settled in and set out to explore the resort.
If you have never been to Beaches Negril, let me start by saying you really should go! It is the most beautiful resort on a gorgeous stretch of the best beach Jamaica has to offer. The water park is a kids’ paradise (and grown-ups’!), the “Cafe de Paris” Cafe has the very best specialty coffees and crepes – and they are all included! There are so many activities to partake in, we didn’t hear “I’m bored” even once!! There was an Xbox games room near our room that I thought our son would spend the whole week at, but he was having so much fun with us that he barely went there!!
I don’t even know where to start with the restaurants. They are all amazing. We loved having our a-la-carte breakfast on the beach at the Stew Fish restaurant – you simply must do this! The Pizza at Dino’s is so good. Listening to the Chefs sing Reggae while cooking at Kimono’s was amazing, not to mention how delicious the meal was! We had our wedding day dinner at the Venetian which was so lovely. I can’t say enough about the food and the service. Simply wonderful.
The morning of our vow renewal we had breakfast at Stew Fish, as had become tradition by then. We spent a leisurely day at the beach and then headed back to the room to freshen up. The ceremony was at 4pm at the gazebo on the beach. It was so pretty, exactly how I imagined it would be! There was music played on a steel drum for us to walk down the aisle to. We arranged to have a sand ceremony as part of the service, which also doubled as a beautiful keepsake for us. Tresh set up a reception for us at the gazebo in the garden which was quite lovely, followed up by a sunset photo shoot on the beach. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day.
One of the best things about a destination ceremony is that the honeymoon starts right away. We were treated to breakfast in bed the morning after the ceremony and still had a few days to enjoy endless ice cream and pina coladas by the pool. I enjoyed some pampering at the Red Lane Spa and we all went snorkelling – which was one of the highlights of the trip for sure!
All in all, my husband is forgiven as we had the most amazing vow renewal experience at Beaches Negril. I couldn’t have asked for anything more.
