It’s not like we need another reason to visit the beach, but these colourful beaches are just so alluring. The vibrant shores surpass the classic white and brown shades and enter into a realm of magnificent natural wonders. Here are five colourful beaches that made the list!
1. Horseshoe Bay Beach, Bermuda
As the most famous beach in Bermuda and one of the world’s best, Horseshoe Bay Beach ranked #3 on Trip Advisor’s Top 25 Beaches list, earning a Traveller’s Choice 2013 award. Fine pink sand, calm waters, and scenic coves and cliffs define this tropical treasure.
2. Vik Beach, Iceland
This black sand beach is stunning. Rock formations, smooth black pebbles, seabirds, basalt columns, volcanic sand, and ancient legends make this beach beautifully mysterious.
3. Papakōlea Beach, Hawaii
Known for its distinctive green colour, it’s one of only four green sand beaches in the world. The shade is a result of an olivine mineral found in the surrounding cinder cone from volcanic eruptions. This site is a must-see when visiting the Big Island of Hawaii.
4. Red Beach, Greece
Located near the ancient site of Akrotiri in Santorini, this beach is framed by lava cliffs in deep red hues. It’s hard to navigate the rock path but worth the short hike for a photo. The breathtaking view is unforgettable.
5. Pfeiffer Beach, California
A hidden gem in Big Sur, California, this beach is very different than others in the south. Its solitary location makes it peaceful and its unique purple colour makes it striking at sunset.
