A trip to Miami is on many travel bucket lists and justification is not hard to find. Known as a trendy playground for party-goers, Miami also offers some of the best beaches for families and those looking for quiet serenity. Lounge on the many white sandy beaches hidden away or soak up the sun on the lively South Beach for a true Miami experience. Walk past art-deco style buildings, indulge in Miami cuisine, explore some of the finest museums and malls, experience the vibrant nightlife, and window-shop at designer boutiques. You may even spot a celebrity in the process. You may want to visit the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens to see the extravagant European mansions and landscaped grounds from the early 1900s or visit the Everglades, a wetland full of plant, fish, and bird species for a nice retreat from Miami’s bustling center. You may even take a short drive to check out the beautiful island of Key West while you’re close by, head to Zoo Miami for a day-trip, or dine in a park among the famed Miami food-trucks. Whichever part of Miami you wish to experience (and we suggest a little bit of everything!), one thing is for sure: you’ll come home feeling impressed – and wanting to return!
City Basics
From the Airport: Miami International Airport has over 200 shops and restaurants. The Rental Car Centre houses 16 rental car companies on the upper level of the airport. On the ground level are taxi cabs and shuttle buses that will transport you to your hotel for flat rates depending on your desired Zone. For example, a taxi to South Miami Beach (Zone 4) is $32.00.
Getting Around: Renting a car is the best way to explore Miami. Most hotels offer valet parking and unlimited in and out privileges so that you may drive to different parts of the city. Taxis may also be a good option depending on your hotel location and where you plan to visit.
