I travelled onboard the Rocky Mountaineer in early spring. I took the First Passage to the West package, which retraced the steps of 19th century explorers. It was a great opportunity to traverse the Continental Divide and discover spectacular mountains. The package took us along Calgary, Banff, Lake Louise, Kamloops and Vancouver.
The GoldLeaf Service heightened the experience. The fully-domed panoramic windows made me feel like I was right in the middle of the breathtaking landscapes. Gourmet meals, a separate area for dining, and luxurious accommodations were wonderful perks.

During my trip, I saw plenty of wildlife – everything from deer, mountain goats, coyotes, bald eagles, to black bears! The landscape was amazingly diverse. I loved seeing the rocky mountains and the Fraser Valley.

I must say that it was a bucket list trip! I would recommend this trip to couples, mature friends, and empty nesters. Consider booking in early spring to view the wildlife, and remember that a great camera is a must!
