Punta Cana has a new resort in town.
Joining the five other Riu hotels in this Dominican Republic hotspot, the brand you know and love is expanding to open the adults-only (18+) Riu Republica this summer.
STAY
The 1007-room resort offers double rooms, triple rooms (with a sofa bed), family rooms with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, suites with a lounge area and hydromassage bathtub, and jacuzzi suites with a whirlpool on the balcony.
All rooms are equipped with the comforts of home: hairdryer, telephone, coffee maker, flat screen tv, electronic safe, iron and ironing board, free wi-fi, plus luxurious Caribbean extras like a mini bar, liquor dispenser, and balcony or terrace leading out to stunning views of the tropics.
PLAY
Adults can play too, whether that means smiling from ear to ear as you catch up on your reading under the sun, or taking part in the various activities as part of RIU’s entertainment program. Hop from the soft sands of the beach to the solarium terrace surrounding the two infinity pools. When you need a refresh from the warmth on your skin, you know where to cool down.
Heat up in the gym, jacuzzi, or sizzling nightclub or wind down in the wellness center with steam room, beauty salon, hairdressing services, and massage services (services come at an extra cost).
If you want to stay active, the resort offers activities like windsurfing, kayaking, snorkeling, water polo, and exercise classes, plus, evenings are never dull with live music, shows, and romantic sunsets.
EAT
Indulge in the benefit of all-inclusive dining, where your 24-hour food and drinks are included in your vacation package. Your choices are:
- Buffet – La Altagracia
- Italian Cuisine – Tagliatella
- Asian Cuisine – Kaori
- Steakhouse with terrace – Quisqueya
- Romantic dinners on the beach are available at an extra charge.
Bars:
- La Guira lobby bar
- Latino lounge bar with terrace
- Sports bar
- Bar Plaza
- Swim up bar Aquamar
EXPLORE
Everything you need for a perfectly relaxing sun vacation is at the Riu Republica resort. But as always, it’s worth exploring off the resort to get a taste of the local area. From taking part in water sports on Arena Gorda beach to golfing at nearby courses, there are plenty of activities to keep you busy. Take a day trip to the beautiful Saona Island located on the south-east tip of the DR or to the nearby La Romana’s Altos de Chavon Mediterranean village. Closer by, Punta Cana Ecological Reserve is full of flora, fauna, and an excellent coral reef. If you’re interested in learning more, there are lots of Punta Cana day trips you can book in advance online.
The all new, all-inclusive Riu Republica will be welcoming guests starting in June. Come see it for yourself!
Update: We sent some of our travel agents to check out the new Riu Republica resort in Punta Cana earlier this summer, after the new resort opened in June. Here’s what they had to say.
