Our Canada Day contest in July awarded two winners a trip for two to a major Canadian city. Janice, one of our winners, choose to discover Halifax, the beautiful capital of Nova Scotia.
A special thank you to the Delta Barrington downtown hotel for providing a suite for our winners and to Destination Halifax for attraction passes.
Here is what Janice had to say:
We went to the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic. The detailing of the ship replicas were something to see. At Pier 21, the guide we had had a wealth of knowledge and had volunteered there for many years. The history of immigration to our country and the hardships endured gave me a new perspective on what people would go through to settle here in Canada. There was also a market garden next door, where we did some shopping. We spent several hours at the Nova Scotia Art Gallery, a world class gallery. I purchased a little piece of art to remember the trip. At the Keith’s Brewery, we loved the spirit of the old brewery and it was a great way to quench our thirst after a day visiting galleries, museums, and shopping.
The Citadel was the highlight of my trip. I love the history of Canada and found the collection of artifacts beyond amazing. We drove the Cape Breton trail in one day. The beauty of this trail never ceases to amaze me. We stopped for lunch in Mabou. We spent our last day at Peggy’s Cove. We had a great lunch and took lots of photos. The waves were huge and the beauty was astounding. We bought some Halifax Crystal. I loved watching the glass blowing. We also purchased some pewter ornaments for my children and grandchildren. The food at Salty’s and the Gastro Pub on the waterfront was fun and delicious. The Delta Barrington was world class, helpful, professional and a place I would definitely stay again.
Thank you so much for the opportunity to discover a beautiful Canadian city.
