I was initially in disbelief. I couldn&#8217;t believe I had won. Once it sunk in, my family and I started planning a <a title=\"Best Family Vacations for 2014\" href=\"http:\/\/www.tripcentral.ca\/blog\/best-family-vacations-2014\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">family trip<\/a> to the most exotic places we could think of.\u00a0We decided to travel to Australia first and then drop in at Hawaii for a visit.\u00a0We stayed outside the city of Cairns at a holiday resort in Trinity Beach. Here we discovered beautiful beaches, open-air restaurants, and incredible (if not deadly) wildlife.<\/p>\n<p>We spent a lot of time in the rainforest ziplining from tree-top to tree-top. We went\u00a0snorkeling in the Outer Great Barrier Reef.\u00a0 Swimming in the reef and seeing the incredible multitude of fishes and corals were incredible experiences.\u00a0 Along the way, we met dozens of wonderfully friendly people, learned how to drive on the opposite side of the road, and saw in-the-wild crocodiles sunning themselves on the edge of the Daintree River.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tripcentral.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Around-the-World-Winner-2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11586\" alt=\"Around the World Winner  2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tripcentral.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Around-the-World-Winner-2.jpg\" width=\"792\" height=\"594\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tripcentral.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Around-the-World-Winner-2.jpg 792w, https:\/\/www.tripcentral.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Around-the-World-Winner-2-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.tripcentral.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Around-the-World-Winner-2-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 792px) 100vw, 792px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Leaving Australia was difficult, to say the least, but what made it a bit easier was knowing that we were headed to Maui, Hawaii.\u00a0 Our activities in Hawaii included trekking through the Hawaiian rainforest, feasting at the Kaanapali Beach Luau, swimming with the sea turtles at Turtle Beach, snorkeling in the Hawaiian reefs (remarkably different than Australia, but amazing just the same!), and finally taking a helicopter tour over the islands and ocean.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tripcentral.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Around-the-World-Winner-4.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11588\" alt=\"Around the World Winner  4\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tripcentral.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Around-the-World-Winner-4.jpg\" width=\"792\" height=\"594\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tripcentral.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Around-the-World-Winner-4.jpg 792w, https:\/\/www.tripcentral.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Around-the-World-Winner-4-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.tripcentral.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Around-the-World-Winner-4-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 792px) 100vw, 792px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chymfm.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CHYM FM<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tripcentral.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tripcentral.ca<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aa.com\/homePage.do\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">American Airlines<\/a> for helping us have the best family vacation one could ever dream of having.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Trip Around the World winners discuss with us their Australia and Hawaii adventure.
