We all do it, we over pack. Well, some of us more than others. No matter how hard we try, some of us just can\u2019t help it! It\u2019s a sickness. Let\u2019s say you\u2019re going on a 7 day\u00a0Caribbean cruise<\/a>\u00a0and you\u2019re starting to prepare a hefty list of items you\u2019ll need. Stop! Before you create that list, read our 9 things we know you can live without on vacation \u2026 so don\u2019t pack them!<\/p>\n

  1. Socks. Really? It\u2019s a Caribbean cruise, where are you going to be wearing socks?<\/li>\n
  2. Bug spray\u2014it\u2019s a ship, in the middle of the ocean. No bugs, no bug spray.<\/li>\n
  3. Extra underwear\u2014what are we preparing for? Chances are you\u2019ll spend most of your days in a swimsuit anyway!<\/li>\n
  4. Soap & toiletries\u2014unless you have some type of allergy or super sensitive skin, there\u2019s no need to trek along your own soaps, shampoos, etc. It\u2019s such a pain to get it all through the airport nowadays, with those little baggies and miniature bottles. You can get supplies on board.<\/li>\n
  5. Extra bathing suits. You need one, just one. If you need two, chances are you\u2019ll find a cute little number aboard the ship that you want.<\/li>\n
  6. Shoes\u2014how many pairs of shoes do you really need on a cruise ship? Flip-flops, sandals for dinner \u2026 that pretty much sums it up! You\u2019re not hiking or going to a black tie event. Keep it simple, you\u2019re on vacation!<\/li>\n
  7. Hairdryer\u2014it still amazes me why so many people insist on carrying along their own hair dryers. First, your room will likely have one. If it doesn\u2019t you can probably ask for one. And worst case scenario? You\u2019re on a Caribbean cruise\u2014au natural baby!<\/li>\n
  8. OTC meds\u2014no need to load up on ibuprofen, sea sickness pills, antacids, or any other type of over-the-counter medications. I promise, if you need something, you\u2019ll find it on the ship.<\/li>\n
  9. An umbrella\u2014it\u2019s a ship! You don\u2019t need an umbrella.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Now that you\u2019ve lightened your load a little, here are a few things you want to make damn sure you\u2019ve remembered:<\/p>\n

    1. Medication\u2014if you\u2019re taking any sort of prescription medication, don\u2019t leave home without it! That can really put a damper on your vacation.<\/li>\n
    2. Passport\u2014you\u2019d be surprised how many people find themselves at the airport with a passport. \u201cI left it on the little table right by the door!\u201d<\/li>\n
    3. Cash\u2014it doesn\u2019t have to be a ton, but trust me, cash can be a life safer when you\u2019re on route to your destination. You may need to buy lunch, pay an unexpected tax or fee, tip someone, get a luggage cart or locker, buy headphones on the plane, or any other number of things. These small ticket items are easiest to get when you have a few bucks on you.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
