Based in Dartmouth, NS, I\u2019ve been a travel agent for\u00a03 years. I specialize in vacation packages<\/a> and trips to Australia. I\u2019ve travelled Europe, Mexico, Cuba and Fiji, and I\u2019ve been from coast to coast across North America.<\/p>\n

Just a few weeks ago I took a Spanish all-inclusive Pullmantur Cruise on the Sovereign of the Seas ship. We set sail from Barcelona on Saturday, June 9th for seven days.<\/p>\n

Our first stop was in Tunisia, where we visited a perfume factory, the local souk in Tunis and a carpet store.\u00a0Next we travelled to the charming village of Sidi Bou Said.<\/p>\n

I stayed in an exterior cabin on Deck 4.\u00a0With our porthole I was able to enjoy the coastline as we sailed along to our various ports of call. \u00a0Gift shops were also conveniently located on Deck 4, as were the Internet stations that were set up close to reception.<\/p>\n

We also sailed to Naples, Rome and Florence, Italy, as well as Villefranche\u00a0,France\u00a0 and Monaco\u2013 all of which offered off-ship excursions to popular sights. Sightseeing on these excursions included a visit to the Vatican Museum, the Leaning Tower of Pisa as well as the Baptistery and a walk along Florence’s Ponte Vecchio.<\/p>\n

We also saw the beautiful coastline of the south of France and spent some time in Monte-Carlo and the country of Monaco.<\/p>\n

The cruise was all-inclusive for the most part, with extra charges only for some premium drink brands and the Asian Fusion Restaurant Wu, which is an exclusive dining experience with excellent wait staff and a fabulous menu.<\/p>\n

Entertainment in the evenings was great, featuring a ballet one night, Madonna-themed musical numbers, and a cocktail party which allowed us to meet the Captain and senior staff aboard the ship.<\/p>\n

Bingo and other games were available throughout the week in the Rendez-Vous lounge, and a casino opened up in the afternoons and evenings.<\/p>\n

There were several bars aboard the ship, including the Top Deck lounge, which wrapped around the entire top of Level 11.<\/p>\n

The ship had one pool and lots of activities, games and music during the day. There were also plenty of loungers available throughout the pool deck and decks above, as well as a grill restaurant and bar nearby.\u00a0 My favourite bar was the Spinnaker.<\/p>\n

On our last day, we returned to port in Barcelona.<\/p>\n

The itinerary Breezes of the Mediterranean offers a spectacular list of ports to visit in a week-long cruise. I can’t say enough about the fabulous sights we saw and the historic architecture we visited. The ship’s crew were magnificent, as was the food, drinks and overall service aboard the ship.<\/p>\n
