Smokers trying to get around the limits on tobacco being brought back into Canada from other countries by travelling with electronic cigarettes and airplane checked bags, take note.<\/p>\n

Both the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) and the United States Transportation Department have banned passengers and crew from carrying e-cigarettes and their charging devices in their checked baggage.<\/p>\n

Due to the fire risk these carry, e-cigarettes are not allowed in checked baggage. CATSA requires electronic cigarettes on flights to be stored in your carry-on baggage.<\/p>\n

According to the CATSA website, e-cigarettes \u201cdo not need to be removed from cases or bags in order to be screened.\u201d However, any liquids used by these devices must follow the liquid restrictions on-board<\/a>, meaning they must be 100ml or less and packed in one clear, re-sealable plastic bag.<\/p>\n

Even though e-cigarettes are allowed onboard the aircraft in your carry-on, vaping is still banned onboard aircraft.<\/p>\n
