Nevertheless, more hotels across the globe are making greater efforts to &#8216;go green.&#8217; If you&#8217;re among the increasing number of green travellers, you&#8217;ll want to know in advance if the hotel you&#8217;ve chosen (or plan to choose) is doing what it can to be more energy efficient.<\/p>\n<p>Here are a few quick tell-tale signs that your hotel is going green:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Low-flow shower heads. While some guests may complain that there&#8217;s not enough water pressure in the shower, low-flow shower heads do reduce the amount of water being flushed through a large hotel.<\/li>\n<li>Energy efficient light-bulbs should be used throughout the hotel, in rooms, hallways, restaurants and everywhere in between.<\/li>\n<li>Some hotels in Latin America, Europe and Asia save energy by using a key-card light system, which turns off lights and appliances when you leave the room.<\/li>\n<li>Do the hotel restaurants stock their kitchens with local food? In addition to helping the local economy, sourcing food locally cuts back on the amount of fuel being used in transportation.<\/li>\n<li>Does the housekeeping team use eco-friendly cleaning products? How about laundry detergent and dish washing soap?
