Travel experts, Doug Griffin<\/a>, Spencer Clarke<\/a> & Jean Arseneau<\/a> give us the scoop from their Transat Holidays Familiarization Trip<\/a> this past September. They visited over 30 resorts in one week in Punta Cana, and here is what they have to say:<\/i><\/p>\n

Secrets Royal Beach<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Secrets<\/a><\/p>\n

The Secrets Royal Beach is located side-by-side with the NOW Larimar. It features modern-d\u00e9cor buildings with 465 rooms. All rooms come with outside Jacuzzis, a safe, and 24-hour room service. The beach here is outstanding! During our stay, we had a lunch buffet on a patio facing the ocean. We enjoyed the food and loved the view.<\/p>\n

NOW Larimar<\/strong><\/p>\n

Located on the east side of Secrets Royal Beach, the NOW Larimar has a large central plaza with an entertainment stage set in the centre. Their array of amenities include a sports bar with bowling ($10\/line), Xbox, PlayStation 3, pool tables, a business centre, casino, and disco on the 2nd<\/sup> level with visible swimming pools. There is also a kids club for ages 3 to 12, so the little ones can have a memorable vacation.<\/p>\n

Paradisus Punta Cana<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Paradisus Punta Cana is a family hotel featuring 2-storey villas with 16 rooms in each. The lobby leads out to the pool, entertainment area, bar, coffee shop, and shopping stores. It is a large resort with a beautiful white sand beach and complimentary bike stations throughout. Guests at this property will also enjoy the spa centre where they can indulge in a rejuvenating massage and adventure park which offers wall climbing and bungee jumping.<\/p>\n

The Reserve at Paradisus<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Reserve at Paradisus is located within Paradisus Punta Cana, and is a good distance from the beach. It is a boutique hotel with 170 rooms (many of them are timeshare properties) in 3-storey buildings surrounding the pool and garden area. Guests here will enjoy Wi-Fi access on their rooms, access to all Paradisus PUJ facilities, and the private beach area.<\/p>\n

Paradisus Palma Real<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Punta<\/a><\/p>\n

The Paradisus Palma Real is essentially a carbon copy of the Paradisus PUJ\/Reserve. There are 554 rooms (214 in Royal Service) distributed across 2-storey buildings. Guests will enjoy views of the beach from the lobby. The main court which is past the lobby at a lower level is surrounded by water fountains, shops, restaurants, the casino and auditorium. The main pool is large with a swim-up bar and 3 Jacuzzis. Reservations are required for the restaurants. Guests planning on staying here may also opt for the Royal Service which is exclusive to adults, offers special check-in services, access to the Gabi Beach and Gabi Club, and a butler (one for each 6 rooms). During our visit, we had lunch at the outdoor buffet restaurant and enjoyed the quality of their dishes.<\/p>\n

The Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real is a boutique hotel with 190 rooms and residential suites (50% are timeshare properties). Travelers with children will be pleased with the kids club which caters to ages 1 to 12. This property has 3-storey buildings with doors leading to the internal courtyard which opens up to the sky.<\/p>\n
