The Reef Coco Beach: Wonderful hotel

We had a great short vacation at this hotel. It’s not a big resort but had everything you need. The food was very good at the buffet and on most occasions it was warm to hot which we haven’t found at other resorts. We ate at the Italian restaurant and it was very nice, service was also great. The staff was very friendly throughout the hotel. I want to also say how wonderful it was working with Tammy from Tripcentral. It was my first time using that website but I will definitely use it again.

Grounds were very well kept; dining room was clean and well staffed; food was excellent and plentiful! When asked for information, staff was helpful and knowledgeable. Shuttle service was always on time!

Reef Club Playacar Beach: Relief at the Reef

We had the pleasure of staying at this all inclusive resort. Staff were very welcoming and accommodating. The grounds were clean and easy to navigate. It was like walking into your own sanctuary. Two pools and beach front access were wonderful. Our Air Transat Rep was very informative and helped us book excursions off the resort. So pleased with our getaway.

The staff were great at this hotel, very friendly and hard working. The only thing that was a negative was after we checked in the clerk said I will get someone to help you to your room. The staff member came over to assist us and it turned into a timeshare talk. We told her we were not interested and that was fine. The hotel is at the end of 5th avenue so you can walk easy to the shops and restaurants but are not in the middle of the craziness. The food was really good as well. The Reef Coco Beach: Quaint, quiet & clean ... pleasant stay

Pros:The hotel grounds were beautiful and pristine, the beach was small but well kept, beautiful white sand & nice swimming area. Our standard rooms were dated & basic but clean. The food was excellent, many choices, all fresh & flavourful. The servers were excellent. The entertainment staff were all fun & very friendly. Cons: not really all inclusive, extra charges for restaurants & wifi and special coffee. This was rather frustrating and annoying. We have been to many Mexican all inclusive’s over the past 10 years and this was our first experience of not everything included in an all inclusive. This is a great little resort with lots going for it but the extra costs every time we turned around was a turn off!

The Reef Coco Beach: Perfect little resort

If you like a small resort with a gorgeous beach, great food and excellent customer service then you need to go here. No walking 1/2 a mile to the beach from your room. Walk about 100 to 150 steps from you room and the beach is right there. They keep it immaculate too. Food is awesome, especially for a buffet. You can get great omelets or fresh fried eggs from the chef along with prime roast and more from the chef at night. Service is wonderful. Not to mention a five minute walk to 5th ave yet tucked away so very quiet. Right alongside a natural reserve. Can't ask for more.

Pros: Grounds are well maintained, rooms cleaned often, drinks strong and delicious. Love the small, intimate size of the resort, plenty of pool side chairs. Cons: Food bad and always cold or lukewarm, beach unusable due to substantial weeds. If they improved the quality of the food I would go back, probably won’t for this reason.

The resort is a small but very well kept.We enjoy smaller ones to begin with.They are cleaning all the time.The entertainment was good every night. All restaurants had a variety of things you could eat and we're good. Beach was very clean a little small but very cozy,if you like to go out far to swim because boats were anchored off shore

Reef Club Playacar Beach: VERY GOOD TIME

This hotel was just great. We loved the size(not huge) and the fact that the front desk Rosa gave us a room close to the pool/beach. The room was small for 3 people and we had no hot water in shower for 3 days, also with no pressure. They made the water a bit warmer. My girls could not wash their hair for a few days. Because of high capacity of guests moving our room did not happen. Every thing else was fine. May help to have 2 gorgeous, friendly daughters, but not sure!!! The walk on beach to town was alot more than 15 minutes, I'd say more like half an hour and on sand a bit more difficult. Even so, we did that twice. Then took a cab next time for $6. and about 5 minute drive if that. Downtown is so different now with all the big box stores, but mixed with the old it was kind of neat. Thanks for your help Maria. We would have liked the extra Valet park n fly coupon they told us we could have received at booking. We felt for $1500 each we should have had hot water. We stayed happy all week even still. The weather could not have been better. Rio Secreto we LOVED, also Coba adventure was very good. Sandy and daughters.

The Reef Coco Beach: Wonderful Resort!

Super nice resort! Clean, friendly and good food...(no sign of tourista) shows every night at 8pm, different activities throughout the week, if you're interested and located close to 5th avenue (shopping) as well as 12th street (dancing bars). Safe!!! The beach is small and lots of boats park in front of resorts. We didn't mind it, was actually picturesque and for a bigger beach, just walk to the left...

The hotel was kept clean, staff were very friendly. Liked the layout of the pools and lounge areas, fun activities going on daily and pretty good night time entertainment. Negatives were a few issues regarding our room. These problems were brought to the attention of the reception desk but were never dealt with. The safe in our room was never fixed so we could not use it to safely store our passports, etc. The fire alarm was chirping during the night the first two days there. Someone came  [... read more]in to fix it the first day but the problem was not resolved so the second night they came and removed the battery entirely and that is how it stayed. Plumbing could use an upgrade. The day we arrived we were not given the correct information regarding the cost of the a la carte restaurants. Wifi was also very expensive.

The Reef Coco Beach: Awesome dive trip

The room was comfortable and the food was great. What really stuck out was the dive shop. We had some great dives and the staff was amazing. Highlights were diving with Bull Sharks, Day trip to Cozumel for 2 dives and diving in the Cenotes (Underwater Caverns).

Don't go to this resort with 5-star expectations. That said, the staff was 5-star and the food was a very close second. Overall a great experience. Great food! Great fun! Great staff! Rooms were very basic but clean. A small resort which made it feel very safe and comfortable. Security on duty 24-hours a day at the beach and lobby. Beach was nice but lots of boats in the water anchored outside of the roped area. Not sure why they set anchor there when there are no other boats to be seen in the a [... read more]rea. Birds made their presence known at the pool area when people fed them and left plates with leftover food on their lounge chairs. Signs advising guests not to feed the birds and not to leave food out in the open would be helpful. Activity staff was great! Not much to do in the resort after the nightly show. Just a sports bar (very small) with a nice, small patio overlooking the ocean. Would suggest dinner after the show which is every night at 8. 5th Avenue is three blocks away with lots of shopping and heckling from vendors. The ferry to Cozumel is within walking distance at the end of 5th Avenue or by walking along the beach (about a 30 minute walk or 10 minute cab ride). Buffet was great for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Didn't try the Mexican restaurant. It was $6/person which didn't make sense considering it's an all-inclusive resort in Mexico yet there was no additional charge for the Italian or Japanese restaurants. Italian restaurant was awesome (too much food) and the Japanese restaurant was very entertaining with good food. I would highly recommend this resort if you're looking for a quick, safe, no-frills and affordable holiday.

The Reef Coco Beach: Not for a young adventurous crowd

Key points from the hotel: very clean and staff were amazing. Food wasn't great and you have to pay for 2 of 3 a la carte restaurants. It is an extremely tiny resort, therefore night life was essentially non-existent. They had a show every night (not very good) and after the show it was a ghost town. This hotel was lovely because of the separate buildings in a jungle atmosphere. the service was excellent, food good and we enjoyed ourselves very much. we weren't impressed at the hard sell, aggressive time share. We thought we were seeing our sunwing rep but it was time share sales. Very bad!!

Most enjoyable hotel at this price range.Lovely location in the mids of a jungle,very picturesque location.excellent food, grounds well maintained. Spacious rooms, staff very friendly and helpful, would recommend to Anybody. Only Vacation Club sellers pushy and annoying.

This was one of the nicest resorts I have ever stayed in. It is not too large in size which allows you to become very familiar with the resort and staff during your stay. The jungle vibe of the resort is like no other and the staff work extremely hard to keep it very clean. The service was quick and food was incredible !!!!
