Great location

The hotel was very enjoyable. There was easy and convenient access to all amenities. Landscaping was beautiful, and the amount of care was obvious. There was a variety of eating/dining options and easy and tasty snack options.

Dreams la romana 2 adults 2 kids Mar 2026

We just returned from Dreams La Romana resort and spa (preferred) as a family of 4 with 2 young kids. Positives -nice updated rooms with good storage -public bathrooms were often cleaned -maids did an excellent job tidying/cleaning everyday -easy to get into all the restaurants. We ate at all the sit downs and the buffet and had no food poisoning. -Perferred pool had enough shaded seating but wasn’t plentiful. You could get some chairs by 9am. -beach was beautiful like everyone said -e [... read more]verything was very clean, service was great Negatives Biggest negative for me was the lack of liveliness in the lobby area-entertainment was not connected to the lobby, it was in an open field. Uncovered, so it rained out a few times. No tables. Folding chairs. Dark. Tree roots everywhere so my kids fell a bunch. -Coastal-the Perferred breakfast had huge timing issues. One morning we waited nearly 2 hours for breakfast. 25 mins for someone to bring coffee/water. Another 20 to take our order. Another 50 mins to bring the food (2 fried eggs and smoked salmon , and Dominican breakfast - which were cold when arrived). Then our kids cereal took another 15 mins to come. This was a common occurrence everyday. I would have rather gone to the buffet but my husband wanted to utilize the preferred spaces. -chairs at preferred beach were “reserved-ie towels/items” by 8am. Seating was limited here. Chairs/shade in the regular area seemed short was well. -splash area was totally separate from the rest of the resort. No drink service there. -found a few cockroaches in our room, one of which followed us home in our suitcase, yuck. Honestly an overall great experience but would not come back here. Felt they accepted children but wasn’t as kid centered like the last resort we went to in Nov (iberostar selection suites in Punta cana). Iberostar had its issues but it was cheaper and I loved their covered outdoor entertainment space and their walk up icecream bar. My takeaway is that Dreams is beautiful and classy but best for older kids but that’s just my take having experienced a different type of resort last time which was our first time venturing away from Dreams chain.

Beautiful Resort

Everything was top quality. The staff very friendly greeting you with an Ohla and a touch right hand to their heart. People play the stupid towel game and you’ll need to be at the beach/pool by 7 to play. Som towels won’t move till noon. Security should remove after one hr. We found the beach very busy with lounge chairs. Too many people for size of beach. ENCLAVE; Y or N ? We had and there are specific places in the beach or pools that indicate Enclave Only. No one walking by, backs onto greenway and edge of resort. Be naked on patio if you’d like. Very quiet. 6 USB charging plugs. Food was good. Many items ordered was not what is expected. Like fried breaded chicken pieces in a Caesar salad. Lamb was very good. Adult section is better, no kids running up and down lobby area. Tennis and pickleball could use more exposure. The location is not even on resort map. Good gym. Would certainly recommend but would not return, mainly because of the small beach. Don’t waste your time snorkelling.

Hilton La Romana Family Resort

A beautiful resort with a wonderful staff. Need more spaces for smokers and benches to sit on. A very friendly, hard working staff. The grounds were beautiful and the pools were lovely. I would go back.

Hilton LA Romana

We really enjoyed our week at the Hilton. Great staff great food and entertainment was the best. I would definitely go back. Lots of side trips to do or just relax and enjoy the many pools. We did the upgrade Enclave pkg and enjoyed the extra perks we got

Amazing resort but don’t book with Air Transat!

The Hilton hotel was 5 stars and everything was amazing! From the check in, room, grounds, service, food, entertainment and beach. We booked this trip with Air Transat and they lost my husband’s luggage and then found 2 days before we flew home. We asked for them to deliver to our hotel and they said no, we can pick up at the airport when we depart. The day we were leaving the Air Transat bus never picked us up from the hotel and we had to take a 45 min taxi ride to Punta Cana airport and pa [... read more]y $100US dollars. There was no Air Transat rep at our hotel and every time I called the Air Transat assistance phone number off their app, nobody answered. We paid a lot of money for this trip for 1 week with Air Transat and they should be embarrassed with their level of customer service. Book with West Jet, Sunwing or Air Canada instead.

Beautiful, quiet family resort

The resort is very picturesque with lovely landscaping and a long shoreline. The ocean is calm and is great for swimming and snorkelling. Rooms are small - they only allow cots in suites. Service is very attentive and food options are plentiful. There are even resident flamingos. We enjoyed it greatly and hope to be back one day.

Amazing resort

We had a wonderful time at the Hilton la Romana. Dominican.The staff were great, They spoke Spanish and English.The food was very good ,the hotel was very clean and a beautiful pool. The weather was hot and beautiful 27-30 C every day.We couldn't ask for a better vacation spot.

Amazing resort!

We had a 10 night stay and were very satisfied with every aspect of the hotel. Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by staff who are friendly and helpful. The hotel is very clean throughout, and our room was spacious with everything that we needed. Breakfast was substantial, and suited all tastes. We would highly recommend a stay at this resort!

Disappointing

The hotel was lovely and the food was very good. But I found the site to be too noisy for my liking and the beach was a disappointment considering I am used to the beaches in Cuba. It was small and noisy. A public beach was right next to our hotel’s small beach and it was noisy and also the main location for the tour boats to pick up the tourists to take them out to the reef etc. There were over 20 tour buses everyday and hundreds of tourists being moved on and off boats. The entertainment tea [... read more]m at the hotel took over both the pool and the beach so it was very difficult to not have to listen to the constant heavy beat of their music. Also the “privileged” guests, those who paid more for upgrades, were noticeably treated better with special areas on the already too small beach roped off for only them to use. We were actually told to move one day as we didn’t know we were not allowed on that part of the beach. And it’s not obvious or somewhere removed. It’s right in front of the hotel and eating area. Created a bad feeling. Much busier and more touristy than I am used to in Cayo Coco, Cuba

Not so great

We booked a last minute all-inclusive to stay at the Hilton, La Romana in DR. Although we were told this was a 5 star resort...I would completely disagree. Over the course of the week, we likely mentioned to reception 3-4 times that it was our anniversary and we didn't even get flowers or a darn balloon to help us celebrate. The kicker, we advised the travel agent when we even booked...I know every other resort I have stayed out would go out of their way to ensure someone celebrating would be  [... read more]treated as celebrating....not for this resort. Did I mention that when we were picked up from the airport and almost got into an accident because our driver was driving carelessly. He almost hit a car going over 100, but luckily we all screamed and he maneuvered quickly out of the way.....we were all shocked and terrified. Here is a breakdown of all the things that were good vs not: Good: staff was friendly by pool bar, restaurants and reception...no complaints there, room staff were amazing, ensured rooms were always presentable and there to help if there was anything additional required Not good: cleanliness in the VIP beach, we noticed the sand and beach had the same garbage, towels and mess for days at a time. The way to differentiate was orange towel had access to the premium area, and whomever had brown towels has access to the regular beach areas. Every morning we would try to find space and would have to ask the staff to clear off spots as there were brown towels everywhere. We noticed after the second day that the beach was not well maintained in the premium area. There was garbage, tables were a mess, used towels from the previous night still on the beach the next day. After 3 days of seeing the same mess on a couple of the tables and the same garbage in the same area, I finally asked one of the staff members to clean it up, as it was upsetting. It was cleaned shortly after. The food was ok...not a ton of variety and it was very evident that the food from the night before was being reused the next morning...not very appealing. The variety in fruit was minimal... and for the kids we would ask for fresh avocado. You ask 3 people and they would day they don't have it, and then you ask another and suddenly they have it. This was a daily occurrence, literally trying to find the one kitchen staff that would get us avocado. Having been to several other resorts in the Dominican we found this to be the least appealing when it came go food. Asking for your eggs to be well done, was not always well received, which was shocking. We had 3 kids with us and on the site it clearly stated that there were loads of activities for the kids and even at the front desk they provided a breakdown of the activities for the day....I was shocked when there was minimal activities going on, even after being advertised. Ie...poor aerobics...cancelled....pool volleyball...nope! There is no music at the main pool and next to no activities. There was a second pool in the premium area, that had a little better vibe, but was meant to be the quite pool...so still nothing for the kids to do in terms of activities. When I asked the manager on location why the activities were not taking place, I was told there was low participation. HUH? don’t you need to run the activities to get people excited to participate? Either way, the entire week we were there, we saw a max of maybe 15 people at the main pool and the resort at most day times felt empty. I asked the manager about that as well, and they stated that the resort just flipped over from a dreams so was trying to rebuild on things....clients, the facilities and even blocked off the adult area as it was being renovated. Explains a little but something just didn’t feel right. Everyone we spoke to seems to be dissatisfied and said they would not return. We continued with our week, and then the Dominican night happened. There was a beach buffet set up, a bunch of vendors who were selling jewelry...which was great until one of them took things a little to far. My daughter had to go to the washroom, I took her and had to walk through the vendors that were lined up around the pool. As we were walking by, clearly rushing as she had to go, one of the vendors asked us to stop. I told him that my daughter had to go to the washroom, but we would definitely return when we came back. He wasn’t overly impressed and continued to push why I wouldn’t just stop and look right then and there. I explained yet again, that my daughter had to go to the washroom and that I would be happy to stop after. He then got a little mean, grabbed my hand and said, "you don’t want to talk to me because I am Black and old right?" My jaw dropped! I could not believe what I was hearing! My 9 year daughter felt horrible and asked me what I did that he would say that....she was upset as was I. I had to explain things to her, but seriously was in disbelief myself. In totally shock, I told the gentlemen that what he said was inappropriate and that me not wanting to stop had nothing to do with either of what he said. I walked away shocked, and on my way back from the washroom I asked to speak to the Manager on Duty. Once pointed out, I explained to the manager what had just happened, he said "ok, thank you for letting me know" and that was that! He didn’t even ask me to point the gentlemen out or anything...just a simple "ok". The entire night, I was wondering if I should even say anything or just leave it. The next morning, I asked to speak to a manager again, this time in the premium reception. The Lady at reception said the manager was not available to speak to me, but she was the assistant was willing to help out. I explained to her what happened along with details, she took a few notes and said that she would pass onto the manager and get addressed. I asked the young lady to have the manager connect with me when they are back, and she said ok. I went about my day with my family, and then I noticed the same assistant was waiting by the pool waiting for me. I spoke to her, and she explained that she spoke to the manager about my concern and that he advised he was sorry and that the vendor would not be around until the following week, and so I need not be concerned as I wouldn't need to see them again! HUH??? Long story short, the actual manager did not come to speak to me but he did send some fruit to our room, I assume to apologize for what happened and that was that! This entire incident was embarrassing, inappropriate and poorly handled. Was I looking for someone to be fired? No, did I want someone to act as though they actually understood why this was a problem and it shouldn't have happened...yes! Anyhow, we ended up leaving 2 days later and to be honest, we couldn’t have been happier. In comparison to other resorts we have stayed at this was dull and not fun for families and clearly the management didn't take this serious incident overly serious. My recommendation....spend your money wisely and go to another resort where you can trust you will be taken care of and respected for choosing this resort over others. FYI the rating below are stuck at terrible...i would rate the service 3/5, location 3/5 and cleanliness 4/5.

Impeccable Service

With the recent renovations the rooms are fresh and clean. All of the grounds and pools are well kept and the staff are amazing. Can't say enough about the service level we received - my expectations are now high because of how good it was. The food was also really well done, the buffet was always stocked - regardless of time and if you went to a la cart - the waiters were fantastic. This resort also has one of the best/involved entertainment teams. Something for everyone, funny, interactive and scheduled in multiple locations if you preferred the beach over the pool.

Lovely resort.

Grounds are beautiful. People are so, so nice, just fabulous and will anything for you. Food is good, lots of choices, no lobster though. You won't go hungry here! Entertainment team makes this resort what it is. Ocean is warm, no fish for snorkeling. Waves not big, good for swimming. Enjoyed our vacation here.

Good place to unwind!

The premises are very nice. The beach and ocean are the best. The pool area was pretty good as well. The food was good but the service was a bit lacking, it could be improved at the restaurants. The room was nice, clean but a bit dated. The music was redundant, I could have used a bit of variety! Overall a great place to relax.

Great Resort - No Seaweed

We stayed in late August for one week with our two grand-daughters (10 and 12). The room accommodation was great (I am tall and thought I would be confined in a double bed but we got a King for us and a double for the kids). The beach is small but clean and is not infested by seaweeds (had a bad experience in Mexico earlier this year). The kids enjoyed the Explorer's club to the point we had to negotiate to spend time with them (club can be from 9h30 AM to 10h00 PM). Food was great and the no reservation did not cause delays except one night where we showed later than usual. The only annoying thing for early sleepers, the entertainment around the pool stops at 11h00 PM every night and can be loudly heard from your room (Building 5 in all cases). Overall, an excellent stay.

Love this resort!

The resort was wonderful! The staff were all so friendly and provided great service. Beaches and pools were wonderful. Always a chair available. The unlimited a la carte dining was also fabulous! The views from the moment you woke til sunset... so beautiful. Lots of activities for all ages and clear that the staff really focused on you having a memorable experience.

Great food and amazing resort

Very nice resort, great food - the buffet is better than the restaurants, highly advise to upgrade to the preferenced club - better beach chairs and less crowded beacg, good gym with all the basic equipment.

What's not to like?

came back a second time and like the first, all around pure happiness. Weather is always good, grounds are immaculate, rooms awesome and food fantastic. Staff are the best even though it was pretty busy this time still could always get loungers either on beach or by pools. A la cart restaurants never have to make reservations and again even as busy as it was could always get a table. Love this place.

A resort you don't want to miss.

We went with our extended family, ranging in age from 18 months and older. We all really enjoyed our visit to this hotel. It is a short ride from the airport and with small children this was a real bonus. Everything was of high caliber. Our room was very comfortable, clean and quite spacious. The staff where very friendly and helpful. The food was good and the coffee shop was a lovely bonus.

Children Everywhere!

This is an excellent resort. They offer many great childrens programs which means that there an extradorinary amount of youngsters running amok. Where are their parents!? Soccerballs in the lobby bar - plants being defoliated - kids at the swim-up bar, throwing balls at hotel guests (if accidental, then apologize!!). Great room service, maid service, bar service, dinner service. Internet only so-so but free!. Pools clean and warm, beach calm, sandy, and warm, chairs and shade.
