Great Resort, Highly recommend!
Had a wonderful time with the family, the kids loved the pool, kids club and the wildlife. We also got the unlimited Xcaret pass (get the pass when booking!), the park is so close, within easy walking distance.
Beautiful nature resort
3rd time at Occidental Xcaret. Missing slippers had to ask 3 times to get them and no face cloths in the room on 2 days. Miss the Disney musical show from 2017. Enjoyed the Mayan ruins, nature paths, animals, birds, ocean views, beach and amazing park next door. Circus, Mexican and Mayan shows were great and activities - archery, beach zumba, trivia etc. Staff were always friendly- Hugo omelet chef, Paola, Leo, Santiago, and room housekeepers! Thank you!
Amazing place
We found the resort grounds beautiful, the jungle feel is wonderful, with lots of animals around to watch the Iguanas, monkeys coati deer were so fun to watch. The staff were amazing, always had waiters at the pools and beach. The food was good and always lots to choose from. The xcaret park attached is well worth the extra cost. All and all a great vacation.
Amazing and so glad we went back!
We truly love the Occidental at Xcaret! This was our second trip and although the weather did not cooperate fully, the service and resort did not disappoint! Can't wait to go back again! The grounds, the park, food and people truly make you want to continue to visit again and again!
Amazing place
Went to the occidental excaret and had a great experience. Most of the workers were great friendly and a lot of fun. Went with my son and friend and can not say enough about the resort . So much wild life beautiful grounds the resort was massive . Beautiful trails . Its not perfect but for us it was pretty dam close.
Okay resort
Perfect location. We enjoyed our stay. The weather was great and the park entrance was so close. Food is subpar. Do not go there for the food. Old building we stayed in, needs to be remodelled. Also, the Royal level and club level much nicer. Be prepared for sales. Service was excellent.
Very scenic grounds, lobby, and nice rooms but food was average at best
Overall, the resort is quite nice, with lots of natural areas, wild life, and large pools. The beach is man-made because the ocean is quite rough on that stretch of coast. Restaurant and pool side staff were all very pleasant. Daytime and nighttime entertainment was good with the standard fare of pool side games and night time Magic, Michael Jackson, and Circus shows. Rooms were clean and comfortable and house keeping staff did a good job with daily service. Our biggest issue was the foo [... read more]
Wonderful resort but very poor customer service
We enjoyed the resort, the food, the cleanliness, the animals and all the surrounding nature however what makes this hotel a lower star is its customer service. Some people are barely speaking English, while others are rude when you ask for help. Let’s not mention the booking of restaurants… that was a total mess, so if you come for 3 days forget about a la carte, the staff always says that all is booked and you cannot book in the next couple of days. Another disadvantage is that they don’t have [... read more]
It is really beautiful resort
This resort is located in wonderful tropical forest with numerous paths and pools crossed bridges. You can see spider monkeys, coatis, agautis, deers, iguanas and o lot of different birds. In addition, there was 15 minute walk away from hotel to the parc Xaret, where we could go all the time. Food was delicious. All personal was very friendly and polite. Rooms very clean. However, there are not enough umbrellas near pools to provide shade from the direct rays of the sun. In the room in the bathroo [... read more]
July 2025
So our overall experience is say was a 2/5. The resort was clean, the staff was friendly and helpful when asking for directions. The beach is man made which was lovely bc you could still see the ocean while swimming in the beach area as there is no access to the ocean as it’s rock faced. You got to swim with the fish in the beach as well which was super cool. However we experienced hurricane weather as Beryl hit near by, causing the resort to basically close down for safety purposes which wa s c [... read more]
Nice resort but has room for improvement
We enjoyed our vacation but the resort is not as good as it was last time we visited pre-covid. Rooms seem like they could use an overhaul. One of our party had a light that was broken. Our toilet needed a minor adjustment. Door locks were finicky and the balcony door didn't lock at all. We found that food has gone down in quality. Still good but it was amazing last time. Just decreases in premium items an inconsistent availability of items. Same issue with drinks. No access to top shelf brands [... read more]
Resort is huge!
If you don't or can't walk miles and miles all day long do not go to occidental xcarat. The resort is so big that it takes to much time to get to one place to another. I also paid for a package that included a bottle of tequila and a fruit basket which I did not receive even though we asked almost everyday, we found that we had to do a lot of administrative work with Nexus. The light was out in the bathroom which we also asked to have replaced and no one came we had one light in the shower for [... read more]
A Great Resort with a Few Issues
This resort really is a hidden gem. The direct, walk in access to Xcaret is amazing and well worth the money. Pools are sprawling and warm. The wildlife throughout the ground also great. The beach cove was so perfect for toddlers and the net system does a good job of keeping the seaweed under control. We travelled in the last two weeks of March and the resort was full to capacity. Overall, there was a sense of being short staffed. The biggest issue, and the one I couldn’t get over, is that th [... read more]
Amazing
This hotel provides the best of both worlds - you get the experience of an all inclusive and also the experience of the Xcaret Park which is beside the resort. The staff are friendly and attentive; the rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. You get to see wildlife basically at your door every day. They have multiple international restaurants and the main buffet dining room provide a large variety of dishes that meet everyone's needs. The food is fresh, well presented and delicious. Very relaxing stay
Xcaret park, at walking distance, enjoying nature, mingling with animals including nearly extinct, made this a very enjoyable and educational trip. Not to mention the excellent food, drinks, free Wi-Fi, ala carts
Nice resort!
Friendly staff, nice rooms and affordable price! Right beside Xcaret park, the hotel sells unlimited pass for Xcaret which is a deal you can't miss, especially when travelling with young kids. Overall very happy with the experience!
Totally amazing resort
The hotel was very clean, We had a Junior suite, very large, We were two friends travelling together, so we had asked for two beds, but we got a king size bed, we asked to change rooms, but no rooms were available that night ,but they brought in a single bed, my friend took the single bed and found it to be very comfortable so we left it that way! The staff were very friendly in our building, in the lobby and in the restaurants nd buffets! The grounds were very lush and beautiful, well maintaine [... read more]
Nice resort but baaaad food.
Beautiful resort, nice trees and animals. The room was large and clean. Bed was comfortable. The bathroom was outdated and a bit run down. Service was fine and polite but the food was horrible. This is the first time I have ever had bad food in Mexico. It was as bad as Cuba. Really disappointing especially considering how high trip prices were this year. I would not return to or recommend this resort unless it got a total overhaul from top to bottom.
Naturally Beautiful Resort!
We loved the natural jungle setting. Seeing monkeys everyday was a highlight! Bambi the deer, Coatis and Agoutis, Iguanas and Flamingos! Everyday had animal excitement. I would have liked to have seen the Flamingos in a better spot with more stimulation but they looked very healthy. There were also beautiful macaws by the lobby area. I felt bad that their wings were clipped, but then found out that they come over from Xcaret everyday. Xcaret has a successful Macaw breeding program where they are [... read more]
Can't beat the swiming
Loved the bay! Swimming/ snorkeling every day not mater the conditions on the sea. Great pleasant staff. Lovely grounds and wildlife. Restaurants were top notch and buffets had a large selection. Lots of activities to do.
