Great Resort

Riu Negril was a wonderful resort. Very clean and great atmosphere. The food was very good and lots of variety Drinks were top notch. There were few things that were tough for us Too many stairs and also lots of walking to get to the restaurants. But overall it was great

Riu Club Negril Review: Fast Check-In, Great Food & an Amazing Trip!

Recently stayed at Riu Club Negril for 7 days and had a fantastic experience overall. The resort was beautiful, very clean, and the service was excellent. Check-in was the fastest and most efficient we’ve experienced compared to resorts in the Dominican Republic and Mexico. Our room was in Villa 2 on the second floor with a full beach and ocean view. Everything we tried was delicious, and the steakhouse was excellent both times we visited. The grilled jerk chicken and taco spot near the main pool are absolute must-tries. We aren’t really pool-lounger people, so we spent every day at the beach. Bob’s Bar was AMAZING! Drink service was quick throughout the trip, and every server was fantastic. The beach was kept very clean. My only suggestion would be more frequent raking to help reduce sand fleas. Booking with Captain Charlie and his team (Luke) was easily the best excursion decision we made. Although not affiliated with the resort, he honestly should be. Safety was clearly a top priority throughout the experience. He picked us up directly from the beach near the Scuba Caribe hut on a glass-bottom boat. We started with open-water snorkeling, with gear and life jackets provided, then visited caves before heading to Seven Mile Beach where we had time to walk, swim, and relax with loungers and an umbrella. We finished at Rick’s Café to watch the sunset before returning to Riu. Keep in mind that food, beach loungers, umbrellas, and drinks purchased away from the resort were at our own expense, so bring extra cash. Another important tip: bring bug spray with a high DEET content for evenings both on and off the resort. Natural bug spray doesn’t cut it, fair warning. Overall, we had an amazing trip and would absolutely return.

i was at the same resort five years ago with all my other children wow lots of upgrades, food was delicious, rooms are nice and stacked with booze and refreshments The activities throughout the day was great! always something to do and everynight there was entertainment and good entertainment! very nice even though its a two hour bus ride it goes by fast and its always nice to see the way the people live hope to go back to visit lots of teenagers, kids but everyone has separate a [... read more]reas swim up bar a pool just for volleyball

Amazing vacation

We have been to this resort many times. The grounds are lovely and very well maintained. The resort has been fully renovated and the rooms and public areas are lovely. The staff are wonderful, with a special shoutout to Claudia and Kevin at the Sportsbar, they are friendly and so welcoming. The beach is lovely and I like that it spans the full length of the resort, unfortunately water is very weedy, but nature is what it is. Awesome hotel

Everything was fresh and new and wonderful and clean. The food was great. The beach was always clean. Only draw back would be the actually location on the bay which makes the water murky sometimes and areas of seagrass, more so than other nearby resorts. But the snorkelling is great there. Highly recommend it. Our tripcentral experience with Luis was great also.

Amazing resort !

The staff and the food was amazing ! The resort is clean and everything is close by ! The service is the Best that I have seen ! Definately a 5 stars ! Walk left and the beach is amazing just pass the beach market , also has a nice beach bar outside the resort ! We took a private transportation for airport and activities where he was taking us to local food and things we wanted to see . I recommand Lees Éminent island tours for the best trip of your Life ! Great resort.

We recently spent seven wonderful days at Rui Negril. I would highly recommend this resort. The grounds were beautiful. Our room was clean and the cleaning lady did a great job. The fridge was always stocked and we made coffee in our room every morning and sat on the balcony to start each day. The staff were very friendly and the entertainment staff were awesome. They would interact with the guests and let you know what was up that day. The steak house was great The food was ve [... read more]ry good and there was a good variety. We highly recommend this Resort. Everything from start to finish was organized, clean and relaxing. The beach was gorgeous. Although, we recommend bringing watershoes. Sandra Taylor helped us find this gem of a Resort.

Riu A Wonderful place to be...the Entire Staff cleaning Front desk room cleaners bar staffs Maintenance workers....Thank You All for a wonderful 60th Bday..... Singing in the morning after eating the wonderful breakfasts..Lunches and Dinners....!!!! A great time!!!

This hotel is definitely not a 5 start hotel but it was very good. Service and food were good, and the quality of the beach, activities and entertainment amazing! We purchased a tour with Tour Caribe, their on site tour/activities company. It was a great experience: affordable, excellent staff and super fun! Not how I remember

The hotel is still pretty good but now how we remember it from a few years ago. Food is still great. Entertainment is still terrific. Front staff was great. But onto the not so great. Issues with cockroaches. Which we never experienced there before. Salon stylist was rude for no reason. I asked if they had an idea of how long it would take to braid my daughters hair just for planning purposes and the person doing the booking tried to ask the stylist. She wouldnt even look as us and it was us tha [... read more]t was asking. She talked only to the other worker and said, how should she know since "them hair is different from we". Rude for no reason. Im sure my daughter isnt the first mixed persons hair she ever braid. She could have given an estimate. And to not even address us directly was ignorant. Also found alot of staff just didnt seem cheerful like they usually do. Unfortunately it will be our last stay at this resort.

Riu Negril excellent resort.

Overall the resort is very good, with the food the beach and the gardens and housekeeping and the staff very friendly.also I have in all my of travelling I have never been to a resort with so many sunbeds there must be at least 2 to 3 thousand at the beach and the pool so you don’t have to be up at 5 in morning to get a sunbed.

Was ok!

Updated rooms, grounds kept clean. Most of the staff were very friendly & accommodating but a few did need a lesson in customer service. Sunwing rep. really didn’t seem to like her job & we felt like we were bothering her. Nowhere to be found when our flight was delayed & left to fend for ourselves. Buffet had a good selection, steak restaurant was excellent but I will say the overall disappointment was the way they handle a la carte reservation…you have to log in at midnight to stand a chance [... read more] of getting a reservation 48hrs ahead (no sooner, no later) or you are out of luck…we only got one (steakhouse) and that was because we set our alarm for 12:01am and luckily got in- ridiculous we had to do that on a vacation. This was a common complaint for alot of people we spoke to.

Great time at Riu Negril

Rooms were newly renovated. Buffet was great! A la carte restaurants were ok. Staff were friendly. Especially O'Neil and Ruen at the lobby bar. Beach nice and grounds very well kept. We're able to walk quite a distance on beach.

Riu Negril, beautiful well maintained resort.

Newly renovated, the resort is really nice and well maintained, (Note, the resort is a 1 1/2 hour bus ride from the Airport) Rooms are spacious with comfortable balconies. There are several ground floor rooms with swim outs. The buffet dinning rooms have plenty of indoor & out door seating. The food choices are plentiful and good. The specialty restaurants require reservations which seem to be always full. Not being able to make reservations we complained and supervisor staff managed to get  [... read more]us three reservations ( squeaky wheels get greased), there reservation system should be more accommodating. Obviously it can be done. The beach is extensive and there are several other resorts. Walking the entire beach is about a 2 mile walk. There are many vendors, who are friendly and not to pushy. A simple no thank you and they get the message. We passed on going to Rick’s Cafe (younger crowd) went to Ivan’s (a bit quitter place , next door. Overall a great week. The one disappointment was that there were no Mimosas at any of the bars or buffets. This is the first of many resorts we have been to that did not offer Mimosas. Not an earth chattering issue but a disappointment. Notable mentions to Reuben, O’Neil, Mario. Pammette and all those who’s names fail me. On a side note, the Wifi is great indoors but weak on the beach. None of te restaurants have printed menus, accessible via QRcodes; if your not tech savvy the service staff are more than helpful. Hats off to Kevin, Tripcentral, for his assistance with our reservations (2 couples). He was most helpful and was available to answer any of our many questions.

The riu

The resort was good and the staff to the only down fall was the rooms were too far from the entertainment and from the dining area.when we landed at 3.00pm the bus was full and we had to wait for the second bus. That bus waited so long to pick passengers who did not show up once we were on our way the bus stalled 5-6 time and because of that we reached the hotel after 7.00pm. Also we did not get a full 7 day stay as we reached at 7.00 pm and we had to leave at 4.30 am. Wonderful escape

We had a lovely week of sunshine and relaxation. Our wonderful agent must have somehow pulled strings to have gotten us the accomodations that we ended up with. We were able to get right into our room and the location was superb. Due to medical issues, I could not go into the ocean nor walk on the beach which we love doing both. The location was approximately 40 feet from the start of the beach and close to the beach bar. The only complaint was the walking in the extreme heat with no motorized assistance. Dangerous for older people. If you couldnt walk, you couldnt eat. Nothing wrong with the resort...food was scrumptious; everything was immaculate. I had just forgotten about the walking

Less than satisfactory stay at the Rui Negril

The resort, the grounds and the beach in general was beautiful. The rooms we had were less than ideal. We were told we would have rooms side by side and they confirmed this at check in but in fact the rooms we were given were not side by side. They were two rooms apart which was challenging as we were back and forth between rooms a lot with a 4 year old and not being right beside each other was challenging. The rooms were quite musty smelling. The keys stopped working at least twice a day and [... read more] we had to go to reception each time to get them reprogrammed. At one point they had to call maintenance because even the reprogrammed key would not work. They had to reprogram the actual locks on both room doors. Regarding housekeeping, even though we put the sign out to make up the room, we had to call for towels and blankets that had not been replaced. On the beach we had a little girl come ask if she could play with my grandson. Assuming she was a guest at the resort we said sure. Within a few minutes we asked where her mom was and it turns out her mom was one of the vendors who walked along the beach. The mom actually took off and left the little girl with us and we had to go to reception to tell a manager there was a little 8 year old girl left alone on the beach. The little girl told us her mom had been banned from selling on the beach in the past, so I wonder if the resort needs to do a bit more monitoring of vendors on the beach at the resort.

Wonderful vacation!

We just returned from 2 weeks at Riu Negril. We’ve been to several Riu Resorts in the Caribbean and this Riu was everything we expected from Riu. The resort is lovely. As other reviews have stated…there is a bit of wear and tear but it is minor—-it’s a seaside resort and that’s par for the course. Also…they are planning to renovate this fall. They [... read more] do a terrific job of providing authentic Jamaican cuisine! Star Apple and Jack fruit every morning! Bammy, festival and dumplings. Ackee and salt fish, calalloo to name a few! The staff—friendly, cheerful and engaging. The entertainment staff…Bravo! Pluto, Bryan, Trovis, Scotty, Miguel, Tantan, Maggie, Titi, Shanelle, Pineapple, Damien, thank you for your professionalism, talent, and dedication to your work. We appreciated it very much! So much fun! We are very happy with our choice to stay at Riu Negril for 2 weeks…we had considered going to a different resort to break it up….no regrets! We had a wonderful time. Even with that crazy weather that blew up all the seaweed in the Atlantic Ocean onto our beach lol. The resort was on it asap and worked hard to clean it up and stay ahead of it! Well done! If you want to experience Jamaica…within an all inclusive resort…this resort has a great Jamaican vibe. We are very comfortable off site, living in Jamaica…so we were a bit hesitant to stay at an all inclusive and miss out on ‘real’ Jamaica…Riu Negril didn’t disappoint…you know you’re in Jamaica at this resort.
