Love this resort! A perfect mix of relaxing and fun. I recommend anyone wanting some amazing views, good food and a bit of quiet to go for a visit. My only issue was the lower floors rooms weren’t our preference so we had to upgrade.

Amazing Resort
We dealt with Jennifer Brown of Tripcentral. As usual, she's amazing. Thank you. To say this resort is large is an understatement. The grounds are amazing and extremely well kept. They do have trolleys. The buffet has lots to choose from. The restaurant dishes were amazing. I can't begin to tell you how great this place was. Stayed there 12 days and that wasnt enough.

Another Stay in a Lovely Resort
We have stayed at Iberostar (Waves) Paraiso del Mar (as well as Iberostar Paraiso Beach) multiple times--and it remains one of our favourite resorts! While it was not pefect, it was still very enjoyable. FYI the negatives--We found the "Concierge" diversion after check-in to be not worth our time (discouraged us from meeting with our Air Canada rep to find out our transfer time because she wanted us to attend her "presentation" on the selection/club membership instead), and she did not advise [... read more]us on the ability to book restaurant reservations on the app (usually after 1030 PM the night before) versus coming in the morning to see her. As well, the coatis near the garbage cans at the far pool area have learned to go inside and overturn them, making a mess and becoming pests a bit (Please, people, do not feed them or leave food on your lounger area or even in a bag, and be aware that they do bite--let them be). As well, at times the internet speed was not up to streaming, but one could always check emails. But these experiences were dwarfed by all the positives--a beautiful beach and pool area (and staff did confiscate belongings from chair hogs sometimes), with enough loungers and shade for everyone to enjoy the experience; delicious food at the buffet restaurants--the Plaza on the Beach side was our favourite--don't miss the Asian night for sashimi, tuna tataki, and other favourites. As well, we enjoyed the Mexican themed night at La Plaza. There was always something tasty to eat--from omelettes freshly made (small tips accepted but not required), many vegetable and fruit choices, healthy proteins including fish and seafood, and comfort foods, too. We enjoyed the French El Colonial restaurant (we lined up 20 minutes before the first seating to guarantee a spot)--order multiple Burgundy escargot appetizers if you want to share escargot (3 snails per appetizer), note that the Mezclum salad fried brie was a much larger sharable portion, and the Caribe Chocolate cold souffle sphere and wild berries was a delight! As well, I found the reservation for the El Rodizio was very worth our while--feel free to request a hotter sauce (we enjoyed what a believe may have been a habernero cream sauce in small amounts). The coffee shop in the shopping plaza area was a favourite, and there was ice cream and crepes also nearby. The gym was wonderful, and there were enough activities available to stay busy if one wanted. We found the ceramic painting to be ridiculously overpriced ($30 USD for a 3 inch plate??), though. We find this place perfect for families and all ages. We don't require air-conditioned buffets (the shade and fans keep the area very cool), and prefer the birds and animals in these resorts versus the more expensive Lindo/Maya resorts. PS rooms can be chilly with the A/C--bring pjs and feel free to request a blanket.

Would not recommend
It was my first time to Mexico with the last two years at Punta Cana. This resort was disappointing. Very poor and unfriendly staff really stood out. Food was cold everyday at the breakfast bar and restaurants did not compare to anything we went to in punta cana. We still had a good time because we were there with our family but this was not a 4 or 5 star resort.

Clean and Colourful Resort
A nice resort with lots of dining and entertainment options. Our room was modern and spacious. We were expecting two double beds but made it work with a king bed and couch. The beach is beautiful but packed with people. I would love to see the resort use heating apparatus for their buffets. Unfortunately we had a lot of cold food. Definitely something easy that the resort could improve upon.

Great food, quiet, clean
The food was absolutely outstanding. In addition to the already good food you associate with Mexican resorts, iberostar goes the extra mile and throws in a gourmet treat every evening, such as various types of sashimi, seafood, true iberic ham etc.
everything extremely fresh.
Another special treat is the wildlife (flamingo, swans, turtles, fish, coati) that is truly present throughout the entire resort, including reception :-)
You will not have any negative surprises, unless you are super f[... read more]ussy and try to find faults in everything, but then go to 6 stars.
One aspect that I missed (e.g. compared to Bahia Tulum) is the fun and dancing every evening. They have a big hacienda that would be perfect for that.
But if you want a quiet and relaxing vacation with good food and smiles around you, this is the way to go.

Not What I Expected
I have been to this resort previously and from guest services, facility and food and beverage it was beyond expectations. Going back this year I was extremely disappointed. The entertainment staff, especially Uriel and Christian made our whole trip. They were absolutely amazing and made it worth our while. However the food quality was significantly worse. Guest services was absolutely awful. The first room we got was half broken. When we arrived the bed was broken, air conditioning not working a[... read more]nd the shower would not get warm. Over three days we made requests for fixes and for a room change. After repeated messaging calling visiting the front desk and sleeping on the floor for two nights we were finally given a new room. We wasted almost a whole day waiting to insure maintenance was actually coming because the lied repeatedly saying maintenance came when we were in the room and were obviously aware no one ever came. While trying to get accommodations the guest service staff were very rude and unhelpful, especially Jesus. Would not return. If I were to return it would be simply for the entertainment staff and wait staff.

Okay resort but not great!
It is a very big resort and the golf carts that come around can be a bit hit and miss. The food was really great but the pool was cold and although the sand on the beach was really soft and nice the water was always really rough. The biggest turn off for me was how overpriced everything was. I expect resort prices to be high but this was ridiculous. We needed Tylenol for our daughter and they wanted $20 US for 10 pills and when we ran out of sunscreen they had really cheap, poor sunscreen fo[... read more]r $45 US. The lobby staff just wanted to upsell you to their time share scheme. I will say the entire resort was really clean and the staff were all super friendly. The cost of the items didn't take away from our vacation but I won't ever go back to an Iberostar just on principle alone (see more below). Also, don't waste your time on the snorkeling trip from the resort. It was super expensive and incredibly disorganized. You have to cross over a very rough rocky beach area where several people got hurt on the rocks to get to the boat at the resort. That took at least half an hour and from there they take you out to the ocean and literally drop you in the ocean at a very small and very dead coral reef. There was a large family on the boat with several small children and a baby and the sailboat was a catamaran with a flat deck and no rails. They carried the baby over their heads out to the boat across the rocks without a life jacket. Had the worker fallen that baby would not have survived and many people fell trying to get out across the rocks in the rough water. I know that a young girl died at the resort a few years ago from drinking homemade booze the resort gave her and I don't think they learned their lesson as I saw them filling up alcohol bottles from plain white jugs.

Outstanding Resort. Beautiful ambiance and beach.
Our stay at the Iberostar Waves was amazing. The resort is vast and surrounding by lush mangroves that attract birds and hear their chirping. Our room was fabulous close to the beach and could hear the sound of the waves from the room. The staff and services are great. The only drawback was the entertainment. The hotel needs to raise the bar on entertainment. The hotel has many restaurants and offers an international cuisine vegan and gluten friendly options. There were a few East Indian [... read more]families and it would be nice if indian food was added to the menu. It is an eco friendly and paperless resort therefore you have to rely on concierge to assist with figuring out the services and navigating the resort. Overall we had a great experience.

Good value for cost.
The hotel is in good condition, our room was great, clean, no issues. The grounds are very nice, lots of paths through the jungle which is very different than other resorts we have been too. Well lit at night. The resort is stretched out and will require a lot of walking. I had blisters after the second day! There is a cart and wagon that runs every 10 minutes. The food and drinks were good, not the best that we have had. We really like Iberostar, employees were very nice. Beach was nice[... read more], no issues getting a lounger. One issue at the beach is the overwhelming number of Coati’s. they stole a burger right out of my hand while trying to eat at the beach. We watched them go through beach bags, tip over drinks, etc. the Cancun airport is massive and the Air Canada included transfer service was very disorganized. It took over an hour to figure out which van to get in, they seemed to be overwhelmed. Overall, it was fine but we like the Iberostar in Peurto Plata much better and we will probably stick to that.

Still a great resort
This is a beautiful resort and you feel welcome from the moment you set foot in the lobby.
The grounds are gorgeous and meticulously kept. The buildings and restaurants are clean and pretty well maintained by the staff but there were a few areas that needed some attention. The staff are friendly and very accommodating and attentive.
The pools are beautiful and you never feel crowded.
One thing that I did notice this trip ( we have been to this resort 3 times) was that there seemed to be a sh[... read more]ortage of staff at the pool bars, and some restaurants. We were on vacation so not a big deal to wait for things but I felt for the staff.
The only other small complaint was the quality of the linens in our room weren’t great- towels were frayed, pillows old and flat Still useable but not up to the standards we had experienced previously.

Family friendly resort
Friendly staff work hard to help you enjoy your stay in this gorgeous resort. Enter from the open air lobby, through pillared walkways, down winding paths surrounded by lush vegetation, into airy immaculate rooms and massive pool area, we were wowwed. The beach was also wide and lovely, and the waters fun to body surf through. There is food for every taste, and options from buffet and open air seating, to more formal dining rooms. Beautiful resort; great time!
This was our 4th time at this resort and once again, we had a fabulous time.
There are now 3 dedicated routes for transportation, one for each resort, (green, blue and purple) where golf cart drivers will pick you up while walking on the path. My only recommendation for this is that during breakfast and dinner there should be more carts available which would mean shorter wait times. Also, a bench at the side lobby on Del Mar would be very helpful while waiting for a cart to arrive.
The grou[... read more]nds are beautiful and well maintained as are the buildings and rooms. Everything is very clean and the staff are very pleasant and helpful.
The pools are incredible; also very clean and well maintained. Lots of comfortable loungers are available around the pools and at the beach.
The food in the buffet was excellent with a large selection. The restaurants we dined in were also excellent except for the Smoke House (didn't care too much for that). The food and service in the Mediterranean and Italian was excellent.
The entertainment in the theatre this time was great. We noticed an improvement in the productions. We especially enjoyed the Mexican show; it was beautiful.
The entertainment team does a great job in providing lots of things to do. However, we found the music at the "party pool" to be very loud every day, especially when they had the "Pool Party" on Tuesday. We had to leave that area because of the extreme noise. Even people in building 19 (near the front of the resort) complained about the intense noise.A not so positive change in the resort is that the previous "quiet area" has been changed to "members only" area. This is unfortunate because, as previously mentioned, the music in the pool area can be pretty loud, so this was a nice area to go...not anymore.
It would be great if dancing after 8 was offered. "Dance lessons" is posted almost nightly but many times we were disappointed because staff didn't show up. These lessons were mostly Salsa, Merenge, etc. No need for constant lessons, just put on the music (any music) and encourage people to dance.
We especially enjoyed the daily Zumba class at 3 pm with Jesus. He was great.
The beach is gorgeous; long and wide with white powder sand and lots of loungers under the palapas.
All in all, the vacation was great and would definately recommend this resort. We plan to be back next year.

Beautiful resort!!!
We had a great time at Iberostar Del Mar in Mayan Riviera, Mexico
Food was amazing, lots of wildlife there such as peacocks, flamingos, swans, many types of different birds and LOTS of coati just to name a few
Great shows as well but we didn't pay for any (shouldn't they ALL be included)
As repeat customers, we were greeted by name and welcomed.

Perfect resort for relaxation
The grounds are amazing, with so much greenery and wild life. They have pink flamingo's, white and black swans, couti, peacocks, and of course iguanas just hanging around like the tourists. The walks to the restaurants and pool/beach are the best. You feel like you are walking through a little jungle. The pool is the best you can find a quiet spot or be down by the party. You can find a shady spot if you need a break from the sun or just keep on baking.
The restaurants are great but the [... read more]buffet is just as good. So much variety every night something new to try. They chef they have on staff is really great at his job. Best buffet I have ever had.
The staff are by the friendliest people and they really enjoy their jobs....after talking with one of the waiters at the lunch buffet we discovered that a lot of the staff have been working at the resort for more than 20 years. The rooms are a bit dated but very clean...I felt like it had a rustic feel to it so it works for me.
If you are looking for a place to relax by a pool and enjoy eating good food and drinks than the Del Mar is perfect for you

Amazing Location
Spent a week at Iberostar ParaÃso Del Mar. beautiful, lush jungle like location only a half hour drive from the Cancun airport. This is now a non smoking resort. This was great for us but we heard many people complain that they weren’t aware of this fact. A solid resort that is good value. Lots of work occurring around the property to make the resort even more appealing.

Amazing Resort!
The Tripcentral.ca provided excellent vacation package with reasonable price for us (2 adults + 2 children) in July 2023. Our travel was smooth with no difficulties. Our environmentally-friendly resort is spreading over 400 hectares of sea beach area that is itself a small town with 3 hotels and all the required facilities (many restaurants and cafes) in the heart of the mangrove forest. The beauty of the resort is enhanced by the peacocks, flamingoes, racoons and other birds and animals that ar[... read more]e roaming around the resort. The resort staff are very friendly and always eager to assist us. Adequate resting shadow-spaces on the beach, with plenty of beach towels, are available to a large number of guests at any time. The white-sandy beach of the resort in July was wonderful with little or no water-floating weeds. It was also well secured by the local police petrolling regularly. Our 2 kids also enjoyed in snorkeling and other programmes of the resort on the beach and free boat rides. The dishes served were very delicious, with varieties - that fit both non-veg and veg people. Interesting programmes of the hotel engage both adults and kids throughout the day - well organized way. The hotel rooms are spacious, with sound air-conditioning system. We got nice walks to reach different places of interest in the resort. However, the dinning places were getting too crowded at the time we visited (July). Most of the rooms in our hotel are not facing sea view. Marketing to get membership of the resort was rigorous and time-consuming for us - we were asked to have 5-star hotel visit and breakfast there, along with visit to golf course and other places in the resort - that did not attract us. Overall, it was a memorable and amazing vacation for all of us.
