Great Hotel, Beautiful Beach

I have been to Cuba many times. And this is my second time at this hotel, and I will return. No complaints. Just a good time. Staff was fantastic. Food was a good Cuban standard. Drinks always great.

Lovely as always

We have been to many parts of Cuba over the years but always return to Melia Cayo Santa Maria. The hotel is well run, the staff are warm, welcoming and do the best they can under sometimes trying conditions. The grounds are lovely and the rooms, large and comfortable. Sure, the showers were often lukewarm and sometimes there was a shortage of fresh fruit or veg but there was always plenty of choice in meats, cheeses, soups, salads and desserts. The beach is one of the best, and even when it's too wavy too swim you can walk the 8km and not feel crowded, ever. The country is in trouble, and the staff are grateful for any gifts. US cash is good but practical things we take for granted are perhaps better. We took acetaminophen, ibuprofen, toothpaste, toothbrushes, reading glasses and feminine napkins.

Great Resort

The hotel I was great, the rooms were clean and roomy, staff were amazing and friendly, shout out to Yoseet. At the pool bar, a la carts were yummy, resort beautiful and breach stunning , grounds were very clean and tidy, entertainment in Lobby was great, lots of local talent on the instruments

Worst resort ever!

Only positive is service was good and rooms were clean The food was horrible and there were major shortages. No it’s not a Cuba thing as other resorts had plenty of food. No bread or flour products for 4 days. No rice for 2 days. No juice, yogurt etc etc. rooms are dated to the point of the bathroom door rotting off 1/4 of the way up. Mold in tub area. Drinks were limited and no pina colada’s. Like really?????

Beautiful Holiday!!

Had a wonderful trip, the Meliá Cayo Santa Maria was a lovely hotel!! Grounds were beautiful, Staff was exceptional! Our housekeeper Zailyn was perfect!! So were our waitresses and waiters, the gentleman that delivered our bottled water, bartenders, All the staff were!! The beach is fantastic and you can walk a long way in both directions! Heavenly! Cucumbers, carrots, peppers and tomatoes!! Olive oil always there but no vinegar! Breakfast was good omelettes, no bacon and no syrup for the crepes but had vanilla and chocolate pudding for toppings! Lots of delicious fresh bread and desserts! Ice cream was delicious as well and several flavours were always available! A La cart restaurants we went to were Japanese and International. Both were good! I heard the Italian was very good also! What stands out especially was the entertainment!!! They had the best every night!! The dancers and shows were superb. Much better than I have seen at some Mexico and Dominican hotels!! They were so talented and was a joy to watch! Had a fire guy one night who juggled etc and was excellent! Always had hydro and lots of hot water!!! Beautiful gardens and pools with swim up bar! Towels available every day! Please consider going to this wonderful resort!! We will return!! Thank you Melia!

Great people work here!

The workers at this resort were amazing! From the beach, snack bar, pool, buffet, lobby bar, front desk, gardeners and A La cart all the staff were friendly and went out of their way to make our vacation a memorable one. The resort is a bit dated but they were working on some updates when we were there. The beach made it all worth it!

Beautiful resort!

Our family absolutely loved our stay at the Melia Cayo Santa Maria. Naybi was so great with our kids for activities all week. Plus, the beach is the most beautiful with the best service for drinks. The food by the pool bar is awesome for all meals of the day.

Amazing Resort

Melia Cayo Santa Maria holds a 4 Star Went there 2 weeks ago, honestly everything was great. No shortage of food and drinks. There was beef, pork, fish, and even pasta. Snack bar was amazing. For drinks the variety is endless with a very nice selection of cocktails. It was way more than I even expected. The staff were super friendly. Some have worked with the Melia chain for over 30 yrs including one of the chef there. The place was very clean.Everything was up-kept. Hotdogs get your hotdogs

Beach and pool excellent. Very relaxing, never felt crowded at either beach or pool as resort was not too busy. Service was very friendly and for the most part prompt. Room are dated but clean. Nightly entertainment is good, but repetitive. The food Oh the food. It was by far the worst part of the trip. Unless you love hotdog. Hotdogs are serve with EVERYTHING!!!

Special Place

We visited Melia Cayo Santa Maria in 2018 and had planned to return the following year. Here we are 6 years later and finally making our next trip South. The resort seems to have had a number of upgrades since we were there last. Our room was beautiful! We were so glad that Daniel was still there. He was one of the main reasons we returned. The pool was nice and Luis was always ready to find us a table or pool floaty, and to have a toss of the football! And the beach is amazing. You won’t find a nicer one anywhere. The entertainment team did a great job. There was one night that the sound system gave them some issues so the band that was to play in the lobby was unable, but the other nights there was something fun to watch. We will definitely be back (probably in less than 12 months) and are looking forward to it already. Shout outs to Daniel, Yamile, Yanelys, Luis and Norge. The people are the best!

Everything perfect

For the price you pay,nothing to complain..workers are amazing, beach is spectacular..we go back next month..yoandry beach bar good food cooked by Gerly the chef who make miracle..good servi by jorge too..lobby bar worker are excellent. Can't name all of them ,customers service excellent..I can't complain..for the price it's unbelievable we get a clean room with AC..lol..real travelers will not complain at all..

Third time to the Melia CSM

We love the size of this hotel and the beach is fantastic, large, and great for walking. Morning coffees to start your day is a must. Food was as expected. Disappointed in tripcentral not dealing with my booking promotion adjustments.

Very relaxing resort

The resort was great. Had a great layout close to everything. It is on the smaller side but great spot to recharge. The beach and the water was beautiful we spent everyday on the beach. The staff were all nice and work very hard to keep people comfortable with all the shortages that they face everyday. A little disappointed in the food with the shortages of things but the staff would help anyway they could. The area of Santa Maria is beautiful and may return again in the future.

Wonderful Resort, beautiful beaches!

This trip to Cuba was my 9th, Cuba is having a very difficult time for their people and somehow managed to still give tourists so much! The rooms are lovely, it’s a great size resort, not too big, lots of coffee, drinks and while there are some food shortages everywhere there was lots to eat and enjoy. Great relaxing vacation spot!

The location is beautiful…wonderful beach and pool area…what really made the vacation is how nice the staff were!!…we have been there twice and the second time felt like we were reuniting with family!!….

Beautiful place

The hotel was beautiful, kept very clean, suggest carrying tissue with you for bathrooms would be the 1 thing, staff was so hard working and the most kind and helpful. Rooms were a great size, and clean. There was things for all age groups to do whether at the resort or down by the ocean

Wonderful resort

We loved how the resort is laid out, very easy to get around. The groundkeepers do an amazing job! And I can't say enough about the animation team...they are all very talented and kept us entertained every day and night. Our room, while a little worn down, was clean and the beds comfortable. We had an issue with the toilet not flushing on the first day, but maintenance fixed with a couple of hours...THANK YOU! All the staff are very friendly. Beautiful Resort

The resort and its staff are beautiful and helpful. Because of the pain in my knees I was limited to where I could walk, so they moved me to a closer building to the buffet. (much appreciated). We tipped the housekeeping staff, buffet waitress, and lobby bar staff, but this is purely personal. All in all we would go back to that resort again. The only negative is, the long bumpy 2 hour bus ride from the airport to the resort.
