Great resort

Great place, amazing people, good food. The beach and water- I don’t have to say it as we should all know that Cuba has the best beaches and water! Good entertainment and a lovely place to escape and recharge.

Total Amazing Resort

The best place ever. Totally relaxing place. If that is what your looking for. Food was great with no shortages. Our butler Melia was awesome and was always checking on our needs. The staff on this resort are the best always friendly and helpful. Can't wait till next year to return.

Are room was lovely outdoor shower all the staff are wonderful we loved the piano bar A wonderful holiday Been to Cuba many times and would definitely return to this hotel great entertainment and wonderful staff Highly recommend

Just a little tired

The hotel is around 30 years old and is starting to show its age. We were there for two weeks and enjoyed our stay. Typical Cuba the food was sufficient but very repetitive with shortages starting to show, they ran out of white wine, Gin, Cola, coffee was Spanish not Cuban. We had to be moved from the first room they put us in on the royal side (7136) block as nothing worked, hair dryer, lights and plugs, the furniture was really beaten up and the view was of nothing! They moved us to 7242 wi [... read more]th a view of the pool which was better but still furniture was well worn or broken, some plugs worked, patio doors were damaged and didn't lock. The bed was comfortable and linens clean. The shower preasure was low and some days no hot water to shower in. The last day there we woke up to water pouring in around a ceiling light due to roof leaking. The grounds are very well kept and looks good but you start to see the flaws in the resort on the first day in. I'm sure there are worse resorts in varadero and unfortunately for the shortages we wouldn't stay there again. We love Cuba and have been there 9 times and love it. Shame it's being targeted by the Trump regime.

Will not return to this resort

Rooms are extremely dated - lounge chairs on balcony were rusted not a chance we were sitting on them. Curtains were hanging off the curtain rod. Beach was not maintained (very sad to see) no activities on the beach and very limited activity around the pool during the day Food was the same every day at the buffet Drink selection was very limited Staff at the piano/ cigar and The Rock bar were very friendly I know this is Cuba and we did not go expecting a high class trip but this was a  [... read more]big disappointment and was happy when it was time to come home. Resort review

Overall we were quite disappointed with this resort. We went with an open mind but found a lot of disappointment. We knew the food would be hurt and miss but we found we had to stick to pasta or chicken for the entire week. No fruit, no beef, pasta sauces were bland. Hotel check took 4 hours to get our room. Shower had no pressure. Not to mention I had all of my jewelry stolen out of my checked luggage which I know had nothing to do with the resort but just added to our experience.

Wonderful Vacation

We had an absolutely wonderful vacation at Paradisus Princesa Del Mar, January 16 - 23, 2026. The grounds are beautifully maintained, the room was also well kept and clean. The food was delicious, plentiful, and we especially enjoyed the freshly cooked turkey. Beach was amazing and the hotel staff were friendly and were happy to assist. I will definitely return!

Good stay!

The place is showing its age but is well maintained. Saw groundskeepers every day and some upgrades being built, maybe a bar closer to the beach!! Housekeeping was top notch, room kept tidy with our constant coming and going. Appreciate the job they did. The main restaurant was a buffet with local fare, which is what I wanted. Always plenty of everything. Bars were stocked and never told me I couldn't have a beer! I would return.

Beautiful resort!

This is a beautiful property, well maintained by hard-working staff. The pool was amazing. The room was large and comfortable. The buffet was repetitive but the food at the a la carte restaurants was quite good.

Relaxing Vacation

We had a wonderful stay at the hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our vacation. The hotel rooms are somewhat dated but very adequate. We were not able to use the coffee make in our room as it required a specific pod that they were unable to obtain, however they supplied us with a kettle for our tea and coffee was readily available in many areas of the resort and room service is available if you wish. We have been to Cuba before and were aware that the Cuban people experience challenges obtaining good [... read more]s, food, parts etc., what they lack in supplies they more than make up for with their cheerful, helpful attitudes. The food was good, rather bland in some cases, but we had expected that and brought some spices and condiments that we knew we would want. We had hot water and electricity throughout our stay. The WIFI was excellent at the beginning of our stay however as the hotel filled up after Christmas we were not able to connect regularly in our room - but not a problem as we went to Cuba to relax. We stayed on the lower royal side near the beach entrance, the resort grounds are large so we did a lot of walking but again it was not a problem and was nice to take a stroll after dinner. The resort is clean, there are many washrooms around the resort. The marina across the street has a few nice shops and a coffee shop that makes fantastic cappuccinos! All in all it was a very good vacation and I would definitely return in the future.

Average Resort

Beach: It was never cleaned, piles and piles of debri from ocean on the beach 24 hr Snack Bar : Only had hot dogs and nothing else. We loved the resort!

We stayed from December 22 to Dec 29 and the resort is beautiful. That said, we stayed in the Royal section, where the amenities are elevated. Food was plentiful, staff are wonderful. There is an older section that I would steer clear of... it needs some work. The al a carte restaurants are good. On the Royal side, you are assigned a butler who will look after anything you need. It's Adults Only, so it's very laid back. Beautiful resort

The resort grounds were beautiful and very well maintained, creating a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere throughout the property. The room was spacious with a nice balcony. The food was quite good. We were there on Christmas eve for which a truly special dinner was prepared. The staff were very welcoming and friendly.

Princess Paradisio Del Mar

We had an amazing stay at this all-inclusive resort in Cuba. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome with their warmth, friendliness, and constant smiles. The level of service throughout our stay was exceptional, and the team went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and enjoying every moment. I would also encourage guests to consider bringing small personal essentials and treats to share. Items such as Tylenol, feminine products, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste toothbrushes, powdered soups, crackers, peanut butter and sweets for the children are greatly appreciated.packing these items in ziplockss or tied socks makes it easy to distribute. These everyday necessities can make a meaningful difference for families and staff, many of whom work incredibly hard while earning approximately $35 USD per month. In addition take lots of one dollar USD bills for tips. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a safe, friendly, stress-free all-inclusive escape in Cuba.

Amazing relaxing resort

Out of 4 resorts that I have stayed at in Cuba, I'd rate this one the best. While there are lively areas, there is always quiet sports to sit and relaxe if that's what you want. There are numerous bars. There is good table attentive table service. Cuba being as it is can result shortages. At times there can no limes, or lemons, or cola available. You need to be a fexable drinker. There is only one kind of beer. The tenis courts are in rough shap. Tennis rackets and balls are available, but the [... read more] attendent isn't always around to issure them. So if you want to play tennis bring your own racket and balls.

Quiet and relaxing

We stayed in the junior service royal suite. Based on time of year it was not busy. Some areas were showing wear. Staff were very friendly even though we were not sure they understood what we were asking a good part of the time - always a sile and appreciative of tips / gifts. Food selection were very adequate. Mix options for drinks limited ie no cola !

Exceeded our expectations

This resort dramatically exceeded our expectations of a Cuban resort. The property was spacious, clean, well manicured, the rooms were perfect (we were in the Royal section), the food was very good, we ate at 4 different restaurants ( the Japanese is a MUST), food presentation excellent, the staff were Exceptional, from front desk, servers in restaurants, cafe's, bars, maids, grounds keepers...everyone was over the top courteous, engaging. The beach area was spacious, the pools expansive, clean. [... read more] A must place to visit. On our flight home we heard from many persons who stayed at other resorts, they commented about how they paid less than $1,000 BUT in the next breath they spoke about 'tired properties', food bland or poor, non courteous staff, lack of or no hot water, etc etc. There is an old saying, you get what you pay for...The Paradisus Princesa Del Mar is definitely worth the price, it will be a MUST return for us.

Nice resort

Great beach and swimming pool. Italian restaurant excellent. Japanese very good. Buffet - got enough to eat but a little boring. Service and staff very good. Rooms and grounds good Had an enjoyable stay and would consider going back. Kettle in room which I thought was a good idea. Would bring some coffee and tea if I returned.

Paradisus Princessa Del Mar - Formal Resort Review – Cuba / Meliá Hotels International

I recently visited Cuba and, in light of the country’s current conditions, I wish to acknowledge the exceptional professionalism and dedication of the Cuban people. The staff and service providers were consistently courteous, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. They work diligently to ensure tourists feel comfortable and valued, despite frequently lacking access to basic necessities in their own lives, including reliable medication, food supplies, water, and electricity. Their efforts deserve ex [... read more]plicit recognition. The food provided at the resort restaurants was of good quality, with a reasonable variety. Meals were generally fresh, well prepared, and healthy. However, my experience with the hotel property operated by Meliá Hotels International, a Spanish hotel chain, was entirely unacceptable and fell far below the standards of a hotel advertised as five-star. I stayed at the hotel for 11 days (10 nights) and was required to change rooms three times due to persistent and serious hygiene issues. First room: There was a strong and unmistakable smell of urine. Upon opening the bedding, I observed multiple dark yellow stains across the mattress. No mattress protector was in use. Second room: I requested a room change and was moved the following day. Prior to accepting the room, I asked to inspect the mattress and was refused. Initially, the odor was less noticeable, likely due to extensive use of air freshener before guest occupancy. Once the room was adequately ventilated and the balcony door closed, the smell of urine became evident, similar to the first room. Several days later, a severe thunderstorm caused the air conditioning system to fail. The combination of heat and persistent odor made it impossible to sleep. I woke at approximately 1:30 a.m. and contacted the front desk. I was informed that the air conditioning would be restored shortly; it was not. After a second call, I went in person to the reception at approximately 4:00 a.m., exhausted and unable to remain in the room. Third room: This room presented the same conditions: a noticeable smell of urine, visible urine stains on the mattress, and again, no mattress protector. It is entirely unacceptable that a hotel marketed as a five-star property fails to provide fundamental hygiene standards, including clean, unstained mattresses, the use of mattress protectors, and rooms with clean, breathable air. Responsibility for these conditions rests with Meliá Hotels International as the hotel owner and operator. The local Cuban staff demonstrated consistent effort and professionalism and are clearly constrained by resources and conditions beyond their control. The issues described reflect systemic management and maintenance failures by the hotel chain, not deficiencies in local staff performance. Given the duration of my stay and the repeated nature of these problems, this experience represents a serious breach of basic hospitality standards and should be addressed at the corporate level.

Surprise in Cuba

I had given up on Cuba a couple of years ago because of the declining resort conditions and the food. But a friend encouraged me to try Varadero, and another recommended Paradisus. When we arrived, the first day was rough—four hours waiting for our room and underwhelming buffet food. But the second day was already much better. From there, things just kept improving.
