Too bad

This resort has the potential but we didn’t get to see it. Every day the shortages of alcohol except for rum was getting earlier and earlier (before noon). We did not experience any of the upgraded Harmony Club benefits they listed and there wasn’t a butler.

Week stay

Just returned yesterday after a week vacation at this resort We stayed in the Blu side and stick to this side mainly . We walked thru mostly to get to beach but that's about it The check in was fine , we arrived early and our room wasn't ready but they stored luggage til they got us our room early just to drop bags and change The resort was empty ..in all my travels to Cuba (this was my 12) I have never seen a resort this quiet .but in speaking with our other friends that work at various re [... read more]sorts it's the same everywhere .it would appear most resorts are very empty. The beach is beautiful..it Cuba sandy and it was calm on the days we were there , lots of loungers available. Our room was a first floor building 28 closest to the pool and main lobby . The location was perfect . Be prepared , no safes and we had to ask maintenance to come and repair our sliding door to help it lock and we created a door jamb while we were not in the room. The room has a definite small of mildew and mold . The beds were comfortable . No coffee maker in our room and no glasses ..we just grabbed some from the buffet for room cocktails or coffee (we being a travel kettle ) The grounds were beautifully kept up and yes it's dark but let's be thankful we have power at the resorts as the locals do not. Bring a flashlight and leave it when you go . The bars - pool bar , beach bar and lobby bar were great they had everything we needed or wanted - vodka, gin, even soda and tonic ! Lots of red wine and of course beer (yes Cristal) The food in main buffet was Cuba buffet - they are doing the best with what they have Pizza station and fried rice were a nice surprise! They had ketchup , mustard and hot sauce and hp where we were there . Yes there are a ton of birds in main buffet...but your eating outside lol We only went to one al la carte the Japanese again- food was fine and people were amazing The staff are phenomenal, simple amazing ! Considering the hours they work and their hardships at home they are amazing ! I encourage everyone to actually get off the resort and go and experience Cuba ❤️ take some time and talk to them and understand and appreciate their history and their present . My partner always gets bitten by anything and even with spray and cream he got bit but not anymore or less then other trips ( bring spray and leave spray ) We used a local tour guide (and friend as we have used him for approx 11 excursions over the years ) Leysester Ortega We did a snorkel tour to the Bay of Pigs highly recommend for the history and the ? Fishies We also did an overnight to Habana and was able to really see Cuba ...and see the beauty and tragedy that is Cuba ❤️ feel free to message me if you want more details on the excursions - do it ....worth it and no where near the price of the *Sunwing * tours and personalized and amazing Overall , good resort no issues for us We would return

Food sucks

They run out of certain food like chicken. Only one day they had fresh cut tomatoes and pickles.. no lettuce or salad as we know it. Fruits were limited. Too many mosquitos at buffet during dinner. Every room has some issues and no matter how many times you report at the lobby, they will not come to check. For example I reported the issue with saftey box since day one at least every day, but no one ever came to fix it!!!!

Home away from home in Varadero

We came back recently from Resonance Blu. Great hotel with beautiful beach, amazing staff, well maintained grounds and decent food. I would recommend this hotel and probably will be back soon. Special thanks to customer relations department, animation, our made we stayed in building 22. Yoga with Amanda and as great!

Food was better than expected Slight flooding of common areas Hotel was relatively clean All staff were friendly and helpful Hotel grounds are beautiful and well maintained Bus ride into town was fun and exciting

Relaxing and Enjoyable Stay – Will Return! I recently stayed at this resort and had a wonderful experience from start to finish. The overall setup of the property is excellent — well-organized, clean, and easy to get around. The beach was beautiful, clean, and perfect for relaxing or taking long walks. No air conditioning in the eating areas!!

I would not go back because of the air conditioning issues. I couldn't eat because it was just to hot!!. The hotel itself is not bad. Big. Good beach. Nice staff. Nice rooms. Free wifi. . I will also say that it's very big. So bring good walking shoes.

The beach was great but quite far from everything

The rooms were clean and partially updated. They had the buffet closed for Blu so we had to go to Mystique for all meals. It was a 10-15 walk each way. There is a bar before you get to the beach but it doesn’t serve all the drinks and there is no place on the beach to get drinks or snacks. Definitely not for those with mobility issues as the grounds are not easy to navigate and everything is a minimum 10 minute plus walk from the rooms. Memories Varadero Beach Poor Hotel Management

We paid for Diamond Club and had none of it, apparently we were in a renovated room Upon our arrival Day 1 No internet, safe not working, no hot water, no phone in rooms to call Lobby which was 1 km away, no Diamond Club service on the beach the whole week They shut down the only buffet and forced us to 3 a la cart restaurants which was a shit show Ran out of plastic cups, beer, vodka the list goes on We have been coming to cuba for over 20 years and never experienced such cayos in my lif [... read more]e We understand Cuba .. people are always great and housekeeping were wonderful as well as weather but the running and management of this hotel is to be desired Making us rethink Cuba vacations

Great Resort

Hotel very clean..grounds are beautiful...staff were excellent.... Shortages on food...but staff tried to accommodate everyone... Entertainment staff very friendly hard-working people... Shortages on alcohol and beer... But you'll find something to drink....... Diamond club.. don't waste your money we got nothing that was offered on the website...

Nice resort beautiful grounds and pools are doing some renovating staff was very good housekeeper keep my room nice and clean 2 ladies in the buffet were awesome the cooks where very accommodating some of the fountains weren't working took away a bit of the beauty

Memories Veradero, 2024

Beautiful hotel overall. The grounds were impeccable; Very well maintained. The staff and services were wonderful! The hotel manager, Fernando, was very present; always milling around in various areas of the hotel, and ensuring things were running smoothly.

Budget Friendly

The pros: The Beach is absolutely stunning! One of the best beaches I have been on. The staff and entertainment staff are all incredibly friendly! They are the reason people go back. The cons: I will preface this by saying Cuba in general is struggling badly all over. You must bring extra toilet paper with you everywhere. The public washrooms generally run out of toilet paper, and you only get one roll a day in your room. Often the toilet seats are missing, and lightning is poor i [... read more]n many of the restrooms. Lighting at night is lacking, be sure to use a flashlight getting around at night. The buffets are at the lobby, and this is a very large, spread out resort. I would not recommend for anyone with mobility issues. Pathways are flat to the buildings, but you have a rough ramp to get to the beach, which would not be wheelchair accessible. Also there are no elevators so ground floor is a must for anyone that can't do stairs. The ground floor balcony door did not have a lock on it either. Bring a pole to block the door. Food is almost the exact same every day. We always had enough food, but absolutely no variation, with the exception of roasted pork one night and the a la cartes. The grounds were not maintained well, long grass, plastic cups and confetti left all over on the way to the beach. The rooms were very basic. While my room was clean and well stocked with water and towels, another in our party had no towels replaced until asked, had to ask for toilet paper and extra water, sand left on the floors and cups were jot replaced, just rinced in the sink and put back. We both tipped well daily, so seems hit and miss depending on your housekeeper on duty.

Fairly big not bad

Just got back. Grounds where kept neat. Lots of open wire along the paths.some part lit up. Need a flash light to see building number at night. Food no eggs just powder eggs.buffet was same every day.bread but no butter. First morning no Coffee. Next 6days coffee but very weak and cold at times . Beer some times.somtimes vodka. No mix for 7 days just some kind of juice. No fancy drinks just rum and juice. No shows. Just disco music for young adults. Same music at the beach at the pool then at th [... read more]e square from 9 to 1. That was the only intertament everyday. Cuba day nothing big .real hope things change back to the way they use to be. Until then I will not be back we didn't get drinking water for 5 days.if you didn't bring a to go cup with you, you could only get a cup of water from the bar

Beautiful resort

It is very large and grounds spread out but beautiful. The first couple of days we were confused about the location of everything. Once you get to know your way around its fine, everyone was very friendly. The room was on ground floor and was damp and chemical smell the first night was bad, The floor was dirty the first day but once they came to wash floor we aired it out after a couple days it wasnt as bad and just got used to it. There was work going on everywhere but it wasnt an issue for us, My main complaint was the room was cold and damp. And was a few crawley bugs but after they washed the floor with bleach I didnt see anymore bugs not cockroaches but centipede and soil bugs. For what we paid it was a beautiful resort, We were not sure where the beach entrance was but once you know you know. It would be nice to have a boardwalk to the beach as we got bitten by sand fleas. There were not enough chairs some days at the pools and beach. The new chairs look nice but are very hard and not adjustable. The lobby is beautiful and a great hang out place. Some lights missing bulbs not matching etc. beautiful table in middle missing glass. Would look beautiful with a centerpiece on it. Loved the beautiful blue comfy chairs to wait for golf cart back to room or beach. Couple massage was great. Food was fine not an issue. We had been to Cuba so knew what to expect and had a wonderful time. You can rent the old cars from the lobby and go into Varadera, the Beatles club music was amazing!!

It’s Cuba babaay

It’s Cuba yall, the food will keep you alive but that’s about it. The people here were amazing, coffee was great, pools were nice and the swim up bar was great too. Keep in mind there are some shortages down here, and they are doing everything they can to keep us happy. We did the Jeep Safari and it was possibly the best day of our lives, and we were on our honeymoon. The worst part by FAR are the obnoxious tourists who are rude and don’t understand Cuba and what’s going on. Grave disappointment!

Going down I was aware of the shortages in Cuba but I guess I was surprised at just how far they went to make things stretch. Everything was watered down. The drinks, the sauces. There was no pop in the whole resort and mostly no milk and only 1 kind of juice a day. The buffet served the same thing all week and the al a carte restaurants are closed. A lot of the washrooms had no toilet paper and some had no toilet seats. Some people had no air conditioning, others had doors that wouldn't w [... read more]ork. Remotes had no batteries. One guy was told that his TV didn't work because it was TOO NEW! I was with a group of 24 people who had no room phone service because the building had been hit by lightening before we got there, { who knows how long before } and they still put them all in that building with no way to contact the front desk about problems. To walk from our rooms to the reception and back was 1 km. I realize that Covid hit them hard and they are also switching ownership but I was blindsided by a hotel that is still advertised as a 4 when it struggles to be a 2.5 at best. Given 3 to 5 years, I hope it is able to achieve a 4 star rating again but, I won't be going. Sincerely, MKB P.S. This was my second time at this resort. I have also stayed at Grand Memories twice.

Memories Varadero Resort - Our Experience

This resort is gorgeous and extremely well maintained, the beach is beautiful and the staff is wonderful. Special staff I had met were Annabel at the egg station and the other women, Lisbety at the beach bar and Adrian of the diamond club who helped me with any issues I may have had. The resort during our stay was experiencing major supply issues with food and alcohol which was not the fault of the resort. The only negative things I can say about the resort is that the 24hr snack bar was n [... read more]ot open 24hr as it was not opened from 9:00pm to 9:00am daily and the al a cart restaurants were not always available. This could be because the resort occupancy rate was less then 50% during the holiday season during our stay. I would highly recommend this resort if food and alcohol choices are not your priority.
