Amazing resort.

The grounds were well groomed and beautiful. Food was fantastic and plentiful. Entertainment was amazing. Rooms were very clean and had a week stocked fridge. Pool was a fun time. All and all it was a fantastic time with friends.

Could not ask for more!!!

My wife Joy, and I just returned from RIU Montego Bay on the 25th of February 2026 after a relaxing and top notch resort. This resort is only 10 minutes from Montego Bay airport and is in emasculate condition, considering Jamaica had recently been hit by a massive hurricane. The only way on the resort that indicated it had been hit by the hurricane was that the palm trees were missing some leaves everything was up and running at top speed. We were able to eat at the Stake restaurant twice during our 7 day stay and the 10 once stake was the best meal possible. All of the bars served you quickly and orderly making sure you were looking after as quickly as possible. The entertainment staff did a magnificent job and kept things hopping including talking to us and expanding how they weathered the hurricane and keeping guests safe during it . A big shout out to Allison and Suzy from the entertainment gang that provided our fun times and also Kiara at front desk who kept us informed and was able to answer any questions we might have. Both Me and my wife are Rui members and were able to check into Rui resorts before arriving and because Joy has mobility issues we had requested certain buildings and floors before arriving. WOW. Whoever is in charge of the room placement nailed it on the head !!!!! We could not be more pleased with our room placement, Ground floor and very short walks to the pools, bar and Pepsi outside lunch restaurant!! Rui out did yourselves and made our stay the BEST ever. Also the packages of Blue Mountain coffee from both Tripcentral and the Front desk were much appreciated This has been one of the best Rui resort we have been to and we will definitely be back soon. Just OK

The good. Resort is nice and clean. Service was great everywhere. Food was good The bad. Pools did not match pictures at all. They were small and most likely full of urine. Beach looks ok but water is mostly gross and ocean floor mushy.

All right

The outdoor bathrooms you need more towards the bars in the pools it’s unfortunate for people stocking up on bagels and other breakfast stuff. I was there for five days and I couldn’t get a bagel that I would want it. and the service was great.

Enjoyed ourselves

The bartenders were absolutely amazing especially Kemar, Gaverick, Phillicia, Antoinette and Saiqa. We enjoyed most of the shows that riu puts on in the evenings and other things they do during the day. The riu entertainment team was great at their jobs and made sure everyone was having a good time. Beautiful Resort with some constructive criticism

The hotel grounds and the staff are outstanding. The lifeguards could use a little polishing up on their people skills. Rules need to be liberally applied and publicly posted. The swim up bar needs to be cleaned more often, it gets grungy and unhealthy by noon.

Birthday Success!

I went to riu montego bay with 5 people to celebrate my birthday and i had a fantastic time! First let me say the food at pepes is 10/10 do not miss out. the food overall was really good and the entertainment was phenomenal. the entertainment staff really gave their 100%. I have been to many other resorts and rius and this was the best one. Food great. Drinks were really really strong. We had to ask the bartenders to put tiny shots because they were filling 80% of our cups with alcohol and then  [... read more]adding a splash of juice or pop.Our room was spacious, the bed was comfortable. We had to call to ask for blankets as those weren't in our room but we got it right away.

Wonderful Resort

We had a most wonderful 1 week stay at the Riu . This was our second time there as we enjoyed it so much. Certainly we will be back. The selection of daily foods at the Buffett was great, the Jerk chicken hut was even better. We also enjoyed a delicious meal at the Steak house. Our Room was well suited and clean, we requested a certain Room and was so glad to have been able to get it. MJ and Brandy were always so kind and the whole Resort Staff as well.

Fun Resort

Despite being a very large resort, never a shortage of lounge chairs or dining spots. Great bar service and variety of beverages. Rooms are spacious. 5 pools so have choice of quiet or active. Downside, beach is very seaweedy & mushy bottom. Good entertainment, Riu Party is so much fun!

Ok

Beach is a bit on a hill and the water was not clear (lots of rain)so snorkelling sucked. Would not stay again manager at front desk unorganized lots of people standing around and it seems to take forever

Best time

We had 6 people in our travel party to celebrate two 60th birthdays. All of us had a fantastic stay with no complaints. The food including the buffet was top notch. Going into the water at the beach was a bit of a challenge as there were many large pot hole type drop offs every few feet when walking in the water. There are no golf carts to bring you around the resort so expect to get your steps in which actually pays off since the food and drinks is so good. The resort itself was Ok

The beach was terrible. In the ocean the sand was mushy. Not nice. Check in was at 11 am, we new our room would not be ready until 3. we waited until 4:30 and no one contacted us. We went to the lobby and stood in line for 1 hour . They changed 3 out of the 4 rooms we had as they said they were not ready. No beer in our room every day. No coffee in the room everyday. No toilet paper. Hairdryer wasn't working , they came and fixed it but left the screws and garbage on the floor. You cant even smoke on your balcony at your room. No golf carts to take your luggage to your room. No consistency between the rooms. No lighting in the hallway. Ala cart Sophia we booked online for 5 people. When we arrived we got such a hassle said it was for only 2 people. We finally got in and had to wait for over 1 hour before our food showed up. Food in general is good. Wait staff are great. So happy that at the buffet all the foods are labeled for people with gluten allergies.

Pool Party Place

I would recommend this resort to people who like to party, be entertained and who mostly use the pool. Not a place if you are looking for peace and quiet or if you mostly use the sea as there is a lot of seaweed in the water. We wore water shoes every day as we only use the beach and sea. No complaints with our rooms or getting towels. Lots of choices for food and staff were mostly good at providing service whether or not they were tipped. Enjoyed being in Jamaica and all it has to offer but would not return to this hotel because we prefer beach and a clear sea.

Riu Nice. Jamaica Nice.

Pros: Clean and immaculate. Staff was helpful and friendly. Lots of variety with food, drinks, activities and amenities. Cons: I did not get my birthday package as promised. I did not get the room I was promised. I was never told airport transfer was included. Some of the bartenders were rude but the others were extremely polite.

Amazing resort

This resort is absolutely beautiful. Very well kept. The staff is wonderful and very helpful. Our ocean view room was amazing, high recommend getting that view. The food was great with lots of options for everyone. The entertainment staff was incredible with lots of energy, and great evening shows. The beach is beautiful with clams water. Drink are also very delicious with awesome bartenders. I will definitely be going back to Riu Montego Bay again.

Good resort!

The hotel offers spacious rooms, clean facilities, good pools & a good fitness center. We felt that some of the facilities closed too early. The pools would close by 6 pm which we felt was too early. The pool towels would run out by middle of the day and would not get replenished. Overall, a good property. The Neon party was great entertainment.

Amazing place

Everything was clean. Staff were amazing and very interactive. Remembered our names. Good food. Hotel room was spacious and had an amazing view of the ocean on the top floor. Entertainment was always great and always something to do whether it was dancing, swimming, playing games or late night festivities like neon party or white party. Adult resort. Great Resort

This Resort was just wonderful, the food, entertainment, room cleanliness and the staff overall. We stayed in Bldg. #1 on 2nd floor and enjoyed our view as well. We will certainly come back. The grounds and pools are well maintained , public washrooms kept clean throughout the day.

RIU Montego Bay Resort

Let me start by saying that my wife and I were very disappointed with the RIU Montego Bay resort. The food was not at all what we had expected most always it was cold and was not properly heated and when it sits there for a while it was not very desirable. The food did not have any flavor very bland and not appealing. We tried all the different restaurants and it was pretty much the same. In fact we ate off the hotel as much as we could. When you have some time I can tell you more about our experience. We ended up using someone other than Sunwing Tours because the lack of our customer experience.

Amazing getaway

Hotel and grounds are kept beautiful. It didn’t matter what time you got to the beach or pool, there were always enough chairs for everyone. The food was very plentiful and always a good variety at the buffet. We tried all the al a carts, and they were all very good with great service. The entertainment group were present all day long mingling with guests and were fun to be around.
