First time visit to this resort and I was wowed. I payed three star price and got five star treatment including receiving top shelf drinks by other five star hotels in cuba standards. The food in the buffet was good only it was lacking in quality, possibly being very early in the low season as the hotel only had fifty to possibly seventy-five persons. My only concern was the beach and pool area. The beach is not for playing on the beach and in the water. It was all coral and lots and lots of sea[... read more] urchins, swim shoes are a must or receive painful stings from sea urchins tentacles, however the beach is great for snorkeling. The pool bar area is full of fly, too many so. Bring fly traps. The area is great for handicappers however wear sticky shoes as the large tiles are very slippery when wet, also many of the tiles are loose snd can be a trip hazard.$5:00usd shuttle into the city direct from the front entrance.

Melia Trinidad Peninsula: Love this resort it has to be one of the best resorts in Cuba. I was there in November just went back again and heading back in the next two months.
The hotel is one of the cleanest ones and well-maintained. I’ve ever stayed at the room the service everything was a five star, the meals, especially restaurants the snack bar. I would highly recommend this resort to anybody as a five star selection of the cocktails. The martini bar was fantastic.

Melia Trinidad Peninsula: Love this resort
Fabulous Hotel and Layout. Swim ups are amazing here, staff is some of the best. Food here was good for Cuba compared to a lot of the resorts. No shortage of water etc. Yes the power does go out but the generator kicked it quickly every time so no need to worry. For Cuba the beach directly on the hotel is rocky. you can go to the left of the hotel and there is a man made beach. Also a 20 minute walk will take you to a gorgeous beach with hotels and restaurants where you can enjoy the wate[... read more]rs there. There are really no daily activities at this resort. It is a very laid back style but one of my favourites. I did travel solo on this one and was extremly comfortable here. The bus ride is very long if you fly into Santa Clara but half the time if your flight goes to Cienfiegos

Melia Trinidad Peninsula: Beautiful Resort with Hard-working Staff !
This is a beautiful resort - only approximately 18 months old.
The pick-up from the airport and drive to the resort went well. Check-in went well, and we were thrilled to receive an upgrade since it was our anniversary trip. Snack bar was open so we were able to eat upon our very late arrival.
Grounds were beautiful and well-kept. Gardeners were out every day working on grounds.
Rooms were well-kept and water pressure was excellent throughout the stay. There were no blackouts at all[... read more].
Pop, water and beer were refreshed daily in the refrigerator in the room. Extra water was always available.
Staff worked very hard. Upgrading to LEVEL provided concierge service to help book restaurants and catamaran; also private bar and restaurant. Variety of food that was very tasty. Options for a la carte, as well as the buffet.
Entertainment was minimal at times in the night. Always a big screen and DJ after the performances were over.
Beach area was rocky. However, if one walked along the shore, there were areas where one could freely enter the water without rocks being present. Also natural water area to the left of the beach as another option.
Check out excursions into the town of Trinidad and hiking excursions to the waterfalls. Ensure you choose the right one because one of the waterfalls excursion is more challenging.
Overall, my husband and I had a great time and would consider going back to this resort. We normally only visit a resort once.

Melia Trinidad Peninsula: Beautiful Resort
Location – This resort is 3 hours from the Santa Clara airport. On both trips, to and from the resort, our bus broke down. We were stranded on the side of the road for an hour while we waited for a mechanic to arrive, which delayed our flight home.
Food – the buffet had a great variety, and the a la cartes were excellent. The flies in the restaurants were annoying. The juice was freshly created – no added sugar!
Beach – The beach sand is lovely, but the water was not great. The ground was cov[... read more]ered in seaweed, rocks and coral. There was a natural pool to the left of the resort, but it felt awkward to use since it was in front of another resort.
Staff – Most of the staff was lovely, always willing the help.
Room – Our room was spacious and clean. It was always stocked with clean towels & toiletries. If you are staying with a friend, the bathroom has glass walls, so you will lack privacy.
Fitness/Gym – There was a great variety of equipment that functioned well. Air conditioning, water and towels were provided.
Entertainment – This resort provided my favourite entertainment. They often had a live band/singer in the evening or dancers.
Overall, for the price we paid, I would definitely return & recommend to a friend.

But you had several pools to enjoy the refreshing dip! Lots of entertainment, singers, dancers, different Every nite. Sunsets on the Caribbean every nite was picture perfect. Melia Trinidad Peninsula: Great resort
The accommodation and food were great. The staff was friendly. Other than the bad internet connection, rocky beach, and room door lock not locking all the time, we had an amazing stay at this beautiful resort.
!Just returned from the most incredible trip to Cuba, and I have to rave about the Melia Peninsula Trinidad! From the moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty.
Luxury and Comfort: The resort itself is absolutely luxurious. Everything was spotless and well-maintained.
Staff: The staff were the heart of this resort. Always smiling, helpful, and genuinely friendly. They went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic stay.
Food & Drink: Prepare to be spoiled! The buffet was extensive, [... read more]with something for everyone. Breakfast was a highlight - I swear they had eggs cooked in at least eight different ways! And the coffee...oh, the coffee! Don't miss the Chocolate Frappuccino with rum – it's a must-try!
* Vegetarian Delight: The Mosaic vegetarian restaurant was a revelation! Absolutely delicious. The other restaurants were also fantastic, offering a great variety.
* 24-Hour Snacks: Perfect for those late-night cravings! The 24-hour snack bar was a lifesaver at 4 am.
* Daiquiri Bar: Words can't describe the amazing drinks at the Daiquiri Bar. The Espresso Martini, with that rich Cuban coffee kick, was simply divine!
Beach & Activities: The beach is truly unique and breathtaking. The natural swimming holes and incredible snorkeling opportunities made it an unforgettable experience.
Overall: I have absolutely no complaints. This resort exceeded all my expectations. If you're looking for a luxurious, relaxing, and fun-filled vacation in Cuba, the Melia Peninsula Trinidad is the place to be! Highly recommended!

Melia Trinidad Peninsula: Great Resort.
The hotel itself was great, the rooms, dining areas, the pools, bars, beach and the staff were all amazing. The only thing they need to improve is the entertainment as there wasn’t much going on around the pool for fun and at night it was just a band or singer, dancer and then a video screen for the rest of the night with videos of songs to dance too.
I would go back again.

Melia Trinidad Peninsula: Christmas Visit
Hello everyone The melia unfortunately for a new hotel as of January 2024 falls short in the service area.
The bartenders and food buffet servers were less then satisfactory.
We have been to Cuba many times mainly Varadero area .
This hotel needs to train their staff about some simple customer service to smile and to at least appreciate our presence at your hotel.
We do put food on your table and help give you a living .

Melia Trinidad Peninsula: Service lacks.
The 2.5 hour bus ride to the hotel was good. The guide was very interactive and informative.
Check in at the resort was basic. We were not given a map or general overview of the hotel to advise us of the amenities. We requested a crib and I confirmed during check in that it was in the room already.
Room: we had 2 swimout rooms, in building A. The room itself was nice. The rainfall shower head was great, except that the shower itself sits on a platform above the floor, and there is no slan[... read more]t for the water to drain... therefore if you continuously stand under the shower head, water floods the room. Otherwise, always had hot water and strong pressure. I found the beds to be hard. The swimout would have been amazing if we were in ANY other building. In building A, there is no sun. It is shade 100% of the day which made it freezing and unusable. If you get a swimout in building A, request a switch immediately as it's a waste of money otherwise. The hotel knows this, as they came and removed all the sun umbrellas from these rooms during our stay.
Food: The a la cartes are basic, Sasa (japanese) was probably the best of all. The a la carts fill up real quick by people in advance of their stay, but you are able to book the week of dinners at once rather than daily. Keep the paper for the bookings, as the lady who books them failed to actually schedule 2 of our dinners but luckily we had the paper to show we booked at the times. They do not fill the a la carts at all... most restaurants appear empty so they really limit seating. I didn't care for the food at Alma or Mosiac restaurants. The buffet is VERY small, and dishes are rarely rotated. They ran out of eggs during our stay, so we had 4 days of no eggs for breakfast. They do have a grilling section and for the first few days, they gave large portions and cooked the meat thoroughly. However, when the resort became busy our last 2 days, we saw this change drastically... meat was only being half cooked, and the cook was using the same Tongs to touch the food and garbage. So that was a real turnoff once we observed that happening.
Beach: the sand is real rocky... as is the water. I recommend water shoes if you're going to try to enjoy the water at all. They have 2 swings in the water to take pictures on, which I was excited for... until I saw that they are LAYERED in algae. The hotel should be cleaning them regularly. There is a nicer beach 30 minutes away by walk, near the Memories hotel. You can rent sun loungers for $1.
Entertainment: probably the worst I have ever experienced. There is no advertisement of what the entertainment will be at night, it rarely starts on time, there is no guest engagement. There is no stage. The hotel sets up small mats for the performers, and it just makes it look very uncomfortable. There are no chairs. Guests were using chairs at the bars or the Bali beds. However, if/when the hotel gets busy, I imagine this to be very uncomfortable.
Service: was absolutely TERRIBLE. I ignored other reviews that complained but now I get it. I am still waiting for approximately 6 water, 4 pops, 2 coffee, and sugar to be sent to my tables. If you ask for a drink or something during the meal, the staff acknowledge you but you're lucky if you actually get it. I was baffled by this. Tables at the buffet were not reset once used. If they were, they were not reset completely... often missing glasses or Utensils, Napkins, etc. It is as if the staff is running around not knowing what their job is. There is no clear direction.
Housekeeping was good. I have no complaints. The rooms come with only 2 towels and 2 hand towels... I asked for extra and she maintained this throughout the week.
The crib we requested ended up being a playpen... it's base was broken. The staff tried to layer it with blankets... however i had to complain about this as that became a safety concern for my 5 month old suffocating. It was replaced but wasn't much better.
Right now, since the hotel has only been open for 1 year, I understand why it's a 5 star. However the furniture is cheap and not maintained. The room furniture is already peeling. In just a matter of time it will be just like any other hotel in cuba. The resort is not set up to manage a lot of people. I think our experience would have been a lot worse if the resort had been full the entire time.

Melia Trinidad Peninsula: Absolutely Amazing!
We just returned from a week at Melia Trinidad Peninsula and we’re already planning our return. The bus ride was a little long from the airport (about 2 1/2 hours) but it was well worth the drive.
When you arrive and walk into the lobby, it’s very tranquil. It has a spa-like feeling throughout the resort. Everything was brand new and so clean.
The rooms are modern, light and bright (but equipped with black out curtains) and we particularly loved the shower with the waterfall head and hand spr[... read more]ay nozzle.
We heard that the beach wasn’t very nice, but we were pleasantly surprised by how nice it was. It wasn’t white powdery sand like some beaches, but it was nice sand and the view of the mountains in incredible. We didn’t need water shoes like some reviews suggested. The water is calm so it would be great for kids where you don’t have to worry about large waves or under currents.
We are pool people, so that’s where we spent most of our time. If you’re looking for a party pool, this is not the resort for you. The main pool is fairly quiet and there isn’t an abundance of pool entertainment. Although we didn’t partake, there were a few poolside classes like Zumba, yoga and aqua fitness. My only complaint about the main pool is that the swim up bar is not staffed, so you have to sit there until a bartender on the other side sees you or you have to get out to go to the bar.
We forgot our reusable/insulated cups and really wished we had them. Drinks melt super fast in the heat, and glass cups have to stay at the bar you’re sitting at. If you want to leave, you have to take your drink in a paper cup which starts to disintegrate almost immediately and does affect the taste of the drink.
The food was excellent. We didn’t notice any shortages, they even had ketchup and other condiments, bacon, delicious omelettes and tons of bread. The fresh fruit was choices were papaya, guava, banana and sometimes mango. I would have liked some berries, apple, grapes or oranges, but it wasn’t a terrible selection. Each bar had espresso machines and we enjoyed many cappuccinos. The frappuccinos were also excellent! To our surprise, we had no belly issues other than the usual discomfort if we over indulged.
We had a room on the second floor which is the top floor, and so glad we did. It gave a spectacular view of the pool area and we could see the ocean. There was also an elevator, so no need to carry luggage up stairs. We almost upgraded to a swim up room, but once we saw the view we decided to stick with the room we were given on arrival with the ocean view.
For the most part, the staff was excellent. There were a few bartenders who weren’t overly personable and quick to say no to certain drink requests, and then another bartender would come along and make it without question, but that was rare.
We are Canadian and love a Caesar, but their idea of Clamato is tomato paste mixed with water, so if you’d like a good Caesar be sure to bring your own supples other than the liquor.
We left the resort a couple of times, the first was to go to “The Cave”. It’s a disco/night club built inside of a cave - very cool! We went with other Canadians we met at the resort and felt very safe. The locals were very friendly. We only went for an hour to check it out, and that was long enough as we were all non-smokers and as it got busier, the cave started to smell like cigarette smoke. It cost $20 each way to get there by cab and then $3 per person cover, which included one drink.
The second time we left the resort, it was to go on a horseback riding excursion to a water fall. The excursion was offered to us by one of the Melia staff. When we arrived, the horses were very malnourished and looked unwell, so we asked to be taken back to the resort. We were told it was $13 each when we “booked” and there were 7 of us. When we retuned to the resort and went to pay, he asked for $30 each plus the cab ride. We refused to pay that as we didn’t even go on the horses but my boyfriend and I paid the cab fee of $20 and $40 for the horseback riding. In hindsight, I wish we didn’t pay anything because it was a very disappointing and sad experience as an animal lover, but lesson learned. Book any excursions through your travel agent or the front desk of the hotel.
Other than some house files, there were virtually no bugs at the resort, no wild life other than a few stray cats, and we only saw one small lizard.
We went for a couple massage, and it wasn’t great. The workers who massaged us didn’t seem to be trained in massage therapy. There was hardly any pressure, a lot of fast hand movements, slapping and karate chopping! It was $179 Canadian for the two of us to have a 45 minute massage. For that price, the massage therapists should be well trained.
We were unsure how much cash to bring, but $200 American was plenty to leave $1 for most drinks and $5 the few times our room was cleaned or for a la carte dinners. We also tipped our bus and cab drivers. The cleaner seemed to come to our room each day late in the afternoon while we were having a little nap, so it was only cleaned 3 times during our stay which was ok for us, we just asked that she leave clean towels.
I had tip money left over at the end of the trip to buy a few little treats and keepsakes at the airport.
I was hesitant to go to Cuba, especially after hearing of the travel advisories / shortages, but it was my favourite down south trip yet. We will absolutely return!

Melia Trinidad Peninsula: Good resort
I visited this resort in the last week of April 24. The hotel is very clean as it is new. Rooms are spacious. Staff is friendly, food is average as there is not much choice of items which is typical of Cuba. The good thing is the amount of condiments they offer as it is rare in Cuba. Pools are good, big and nicely maintained. The beach is rough. The sand is like lime stone. Except for a few sand patches in the water, the sea bed is all but dead spiked coral and is very shallow so that you can o[... read more]nly swim in high tide but during high tide it’s a heaven for snorkelling enthusiasts. The most concern that I observed is the travel from Santa Clara to Trinidad. The travel is 2.5 hour and about one hour of journey is very rough as road is badly damaged and broken that tires you down even before you get into the hotel.
