Casa Marina

The rooms were fine, but unfortunately there was a lot of noise from the hallway till 2 am in the morning, could not hear anything from attached rooms, just the hallway. The staff were great. The weekends were noiser than the week days. Unfortunately both myself and my friend got sick with e.coli, which was not a good experience, we are unsure if it was something we ate or drank from the resort. We did not eat or drink off the resort.

Casa Marina Reef Resort

Overall was good value for our week stay. Rooms were dated but can look at upgrading to a more updated room. We didn’t as we had everything we needed and don’t spend much time in the room. Food was good and has something for everyone’s taste. Liked that they had traditional Dominican food items and the fresh fruit was amazing ( Papaya, passion fruit, mango, pineapple etc..). Best roasted chicken we ever had as they seasoned it well. Resort is compact which is nice and loved the Infiniti pools on the reef side along with plenty of shade. It was also nice to be centrally located in town and did venture off to explore and visited Sosua beach to enjoy fried fish and beers. The grocery store is close also, and was nice to pick up some fresh mint for mojitos since this was only available on select side (adults only section). Another tip, the safe is not included with the room and need to pay separately for this and they do charge for wifi. We opted to go with eSIM instead with data package so we could use off resort when walking around town or using WhatsApp to communicate with friends and family. Good size pools and enjoyed the local music they played as opposed to the American music normally played at resorts.

Great Resort

We had a great time at this resort, our rooms were nice, very clean. The option to walk through town was great. Will definitely go back again. Would recommend this hotel. Service was great, food was good.

Cheap Vacation

cheap vacation !!!!!! we did not want and got garden rooms we all wanted to change But they said NO bath pealed all over and no rails to hold on to Beds and maid service good Buffet was good but special diners were disappointing not as good as buffet trips were Very expensive pools good But walks ways and steps very dangerous, no rails all lights shone into the air !! Nice resort

The resort was very nice considering it's rated a 3.5 . Our room was comfortable. The grounds & pools were very well kept. Enjoyed the 3 small pools overlooking the ocean . The food was delicious except we didn't like the repetition of the same food every day for the entire week . We liked the idea of being able to step out into the town of Sousa which was very safe . The restaurants were great . Overall was a great holiday.

Not the best experience

The resort is beautifully located and staff is generally nice, but that's it for the plus side. The place is not very clean, we had a very leaky faucet, toilet not working properly. Drops of rain water falling from the ceiling. Noisy revelers walking in the corridors late at night despite 'no noise' signs. Food average, people smoking in restaurant areas. It is a tourist factory big time. Quantity over quality.

Great Resort

We enjoyed the resort! Loved the entertainment, the whole family did. It was a great getaway.. Some of our rooms had a mold smell.. and on last night I noticed that the one room had it on the roof and it was COVERED.. (I did not stay in that room so it was not seen until I went and say down for a while) Aside from the one room.. I would go back! My kids are already talking "mom, next year when we come..." The beach is hit and miss.. it is nice, just the waves can be rough.

Bang for your buck

Although this resort is dated, it is well kept. The food was good and plentiful. The location is awesome. The beach is just fine. As for the the downfalls, the staff, smiles aren't coming easy although they should be free. The service at the bar is slow. The cleaning lady had more smiles and did a very good job. The resort needs to purchase more pool chairs. The staff should not bother people for a massage.

A good reasonably priced resort with nice beach's available

Over all we would give the hotel a good review. We have been going there about 6 years now, this year for 18 days & have found staff & services quite good. Quality & varity of food was very good except for their roast beef which was available most days. I had thought of requesting to talk with the cook to find out what there tenderizing process was as it turned the meat soft & mushy even though ccooked perfectly. Good resort

I think this is a nice resort. The food was decent some nights better than others ? the a la carte restaurants had no AC so we ate quickly and left again food decent. The drinks ok, stay away from the wine horrible ? on a positive note the staff and the view’s fantastic! We chose this hotel because of price and close to city. However pretty good for a 3 star hotel. If you stay the entire day at a resort this is not a good option. This hotel is worth it if you do activities outside of resort.

Home away from home

This was my 11th time to Casa Marina and it did not disappoint. From the amazing views, especially the sunsets, to the fact that you step out front of the resort and you are in Sosua. The staff are eager to please and are so hard working. Don't be afraid to venture off the resort and take in the many restaurants and shops that Sosua has to offer. Will I be back.. you can count on it.

Great value

The hotel grounds and the facilities are well maintained and beautiful. The buffet food is good but the specialty restaurants (3 of them) are not very good. The resort made us stand in line at 10am every day to reserve the specialty restaurant of the day and it wasn’t worth the wait. We stopped doing it after we tried all restaurants. The room was very nice. A few issues with the shower wand with water splashing all over. The room towels were taken away every day at approx 10am and only returned [... read more] in the afternoon as it appeared they didn’t have enough towels to do a complete change-over. The maid service was great. Overall, it was still a great resort and a great value. I would go back again.

Nice resort/ great location

The rooms were ok. Nothing special!! The service was good. The only complaint would be the below average food!! I would return for another vacation at this resort. Many very good restaurants walking distance from this resort.

Love it here

Casa Marina Reef resort, rated as 3.5 stars, I would rate more as a 4 or better. The reef side does need to be refurbished, I won’t deny that, but the rooms are kept clean and that’s important to us. Housekeeping is timely and efficient, only once during our stay it was after 3 before our room was done. People complain about no hot water, there’s lots, just let the water run. The meals are great, always a variety and always your choice of beef, chicken, pork and fish at each meal. Friendly  [... read more]staff tops it off, willing to help with your needs. And lastly, yes Dominicans are there on weekends, but you can’t go to any resort whether in Dominican or Mexico and not encounter local people. They pay just like us, be respectful, smile, speak to them, the younger people are just like ours. Also, worth noting, a lot of older people and long stay clients, us being one of them.

Buffet was very good...registration and front desk service was not

For a 3.5 star it was fine. Wish bars were open all night. Front desk staff was not helpful, asked for ground floor as I have knee issues and was put on 3rd floor and then sent to find my way and carry my own luggage with no help

Great location

This resort has many good quality’s!! I love the location. You can see whales some mornings. The problem with this resort was the food!! Probably the worst food I ever had at a resort outside Cuba!! The service was not the best. The word that comes to mind with this resort is cheap!!

Not up to last day stay expectations

Did not like the pavers for walking on for a senior. Our room was not up to date we had a much better room before overlooking the pool beside Buffi and dinner lounge if I go again I will pre-book another room our room we had patio door would not lock closet door would not open no drawers to put clothing in and the phone fell apart in my hand I talk to the front desk no results and we faced a Barbwire fence our room last time was beautiful and we paid the same price this time so why was such a [... read more] downgrade room .?

Keep Expectations Low

Worn bath towels, staff often forgot to bring a bath mat, leaky tub faucet, non-working hair dryer, safe that needed maintenance to open, dodgy AC that required several front desk trips & maintenance people 2x, rough bedsheets, mattress cover moves around underneath while sleeping, extra fee dodgy room wifi, plentiful but bland & tasteless food, conflicting information from staff re: how/when to reserve dinner & how many at a time may be booked, if you go on their pricey tours you have no way to [... read more] book a dinner reservation, plastic patio chairs were very worn, no chest of drawers in room to put clothes, your basic all inclusive - could consider upgrading to Select. too many rooms have 2 double beds rather than king/queen. Don't stray off site at night.

Extremely happy

The hotel and accommodations were amazing the locals were friendly you did not fear walking off of the resort I had so much fun lots of activities for people of every age. The staff there were extremely outgoing friendly and willing to do what it takes to make us happy the bartenders were phenomenal

Very nice safe and quiet resort

Our room was in building 9 which was very nice. Staff were helpful and friendly. The food was good on the buffet but I did miss their snack restaurant which used to serve chicken pizza burgers fries salad and ice cream, (when buffet was closed). The grounds are kept very well. The views are spectacular the beach is well maintained. The pools are clean it would be nice if there were a few more lounge chairs, tables, chairs and umbrellas . The surrounding area has a lot of places within walking distance, by cab or organized excursions you are pretty centralized.
