Amazing Vacation

Hotel was great, upgraded to have access to secrets side for the pools and extra restaurant access. Service at the pools were great, be prepared to wake up early to get prime chairs! Otherwise great for the most part. Rooms are a little boring we had a penthouse and i expected more out of it, also had to requests rooms to be stocked they didnt do that daily which was frustrating.

Best holiday ever

We had a swim out room. Everything about this resort exceeded our expectations. Food, service, rooms, amenities. Would 100% recommend. View was and location are excellent. Only down side is as the beach right out front could be a little rocky.

Small Pool

Actually were upgraded to the Secrets side which is the adult side and in the shade all day the swim up rooms. The pool areas were quite small for a resort of this size and were crowded. No shuttle back to the airport was provided.

Dreams Vallarta Bay

We stayed in PVR during late April 2023. The hotel lobby is impressive and provides for wonderful views of the bay. However, you are cornered constantly by staff who want to sell you the Unlimited Vacation Package. Its not a time share....but it is. The rooms are a little dated but very clean and plenty of towels, and toiletries. The beds we did not find to be very comfortable. The swim up pool (also the activity pool) was filthy especially as you entered by the bar. I have never seen a [... read more] pool as dirty and full of hair/skin as this one. The other pool was much more clean, and so that's where I spent a lot of time. The staff was very polite, helpful, and always responded "Its my pleasure". The ocean was very rough, red flagged almost every day, so we did not spend alot of time there. Food was spectacular. The Mexican restaurant was our favourite, while the Japanese one was our least. We also spent a day next door at Secrets, and the Sushi Bar was delicious, Oceana was marvelous. But the best place was the Ice Cream shop. We were entertained by Orlando as he made our crepes. He was truly delightful. My biggest beef is with Air Canada, who cracked my luggage on my way to PVR and provided absolutely no assistance until I arrived home. Further the Air Canada Rep Hugo Ernesto Corona never showed up for our briefing with him, and he too provided no help to our luggage situation. Calls to Air Canada were pointless, frustrating and took away from my vacation. We had a very nice vacation at the Dreams Vallarta. Cleaning the pool more often during the day should be a priority.

Very good resort

We really enjoyed our time at Dreams PV. I stayed in the Preferred Club section, and I am not sure the upgrade was worthwhile for me. It allows you to enjoy a bar on the second floor (I don't drink) and there are some snacks and foods set out in the lobby all day long. The M& Ms in the room were a nice touch, but I would not pay for the upgrade next time. The pools were great, and so was the beach.This was a family resort, so lots of kids. If you wanted to use the sister resort right next do [... read more]or (Secrets) you had to pay. You also had to pay to go to the restaurants on the Secrets side. So the two resorts are quite separate, and you are not allowed to just grab a lounge chair on the other side. We loved the coffee shop! Great coffee served as well as snacks all day long. The service staff were truly great. All in all, I liked the resort. They do try to upsell you a lot. Some restaurants have special areas (eg. the second floor overlooking the ocean) that you can only go to if you buy a bottle of wine. Aside from the many times they tried to upsell us, the resort is great.

Vacation at Dreams

Firstly; we weren’t to pleased to be harassed as soon as we arrived for a sales pitch to buy vacation plans. We go away to get away from all that. When we arrive, we just want to go to our rooms and change for the beach. The rooms were fine but showing signs of age. The hotel almost completely shut down the pool areas for a dinner later that day. Insane! Again, we want to relax by pool. There was nowhere to go. Half the time our rooms weren’t cleaned as the maids didn’t get to us till 6is [... read more]h? 😳 we are in our room at that hour cleaning up for dinner. We paid all inclusive, but wine wasn’t included at some of the restaurants 😳Other than that; we enjoyed ourselves and found the staff to be good and the food good. Location is good (within walking distance of downtown).

A Bit Disappointed For a 5 Star Resort

Excellent value.

Dining areas good with high quality small portions ( as it should be ) of food, with exception poor ambiance Buffet area. Great viewing lobby over beach/sea with bar service. In evening music sometimes far too loud. Good quality bedroom/suites all with sea views and balconies.

A Wonderful Resort

This is one of the nicest resorts I have stayed at in western Mexico. The rooms were large and the bed was very comfortable; the restaurants in the resort provide a good selection of food in their menus; and the facility provides opportunities for a number of activities to keep you active so that you can enjoy the food and drink that all-inclusive resorts provide and not feel too guilty. Perhaps the most special thing about this resort was the people who work there. They work very hard to pro [... read more]vide their guests with excellent service, they make you feel that they are happy in what they do, and they do so with humour and great attention to their guests.

I thought the employees and the food was the highlight of the NOW resort

I thought the employees were especially friendly and went out of their way to make you happy. The grounds and pool were maintained very well. There were many activities to choose from. The room was not maintained to a high degree but was acceptable. I enjoyed my stay and would return again.

Peaceful and Relaxing

The resort was very well-maintained and the staff exceptional in delivery of service. Now Amber has great access to the city, beaches, and pools without having to take long walks to amenities. The city is also has reasonable transportation costs to explore all that the Puerto Vallarta area has to offer, such as zip lining, jungle tours, snorkelling, etc.

4th visit and would return for more

Excellent entertainment, food and hospitality! Every person working at the resort seems genuinely enthusiastic and it was an absolute pleasure once again! Very clean, food was amazing at Castaways and Capers as well as the buffet and room was so comfortable. Live music in the lobby was the most enjoyable way to finish off the day 👍🏽

Nice resort but far from a five star

Having stayed at other Secrets resorts in Mexico, we came with high expectation and were slightly let down. Although Now Amber is a nice resort, the food wasn’t up to par, the opening times of the restaurants were odd (6:30 for dinner?! At a kids resort when some babies/kids go to bed at 7?!) The room maintence was lacking (there were decals missing off our wall and the smell of musty mold was extremely strong) The beach was terrible (which we expected from PV but it was really small, rocky,&  [... read more]dirty). The resort itself is quite beautiful and the pools are nice. All in all, we would not stay again.

Good resort

Good Points • Service was quite good. Anything I asked for, I received with a smile. • Food was good. Every meal I had was delicious. Buffet for breakfast and lunch was good (less food available at dinner...maybe they are expecting you to be at a restaurant?). • Pools were clean; grounds were kept immaculate. • House keeping was very good (although it was done much later in the day than I have ever had at other resorts) with turndown service. • Room was comfortable, large enough,  [... read more]and great bathroom and AC. • Everyone (including cab drivers) had amazing English. Language was literally never a barrier. • I felt safe both on and off the resort (but note I was not wandering the streets after dark). • Entertainment staff (in particular Noe) is great, they are friendly and fun. • The Mexican fiesta was lovely. So many thoughtful touches, from the décor to the food to the entertainment. I really enjoyed myself there. • I liked there was no bracelets or towel cards. Just grab a towel whenever you want, so much better. • Beautiful view of the ocean from nearly every room. • Hotel is close to the marina, airport, town. It is nice to not travel on a bus for an hour after a long flight. • Beautiful sunsets! Less Good Points • Seriously loud bands in the evening. I wore earplugs and slept with a iphone white noise app to try to drown out the loud music. I am not sure any room would have been different. The layout of the hotel means you (and your children) will be awake until fairly late (midnight or later). • The shows at night need some venue improvement. If it was raining it was held in the basement of Secrets (that was fine actually since it was air conditioned). The venue at Now was not covered so rain (which happened half of the evenings in the summer) was a problem. When it was not raining it was so bloody hot, please get some fans. No breeze at all and it was too hot to properly enjoy the entertainment. • I wish we were able to go to the Italian restaurant (we have kids so not allowed). My kids are well behaved and eat the same foods as us so I am not entirely sure why they aren’t allowed. • The only place to go in the evening is the lobby bar. I really think this resort needs at least one other place for people to hang out, preferably a place with AC. • The kids club….while I heard other families enjoying the kids club, mine didn’t seem to. First off, it is a bit weird that you can’t see what they are up to in that space. And the bungee trampoline for example, why not have it out in the open (say by the pools) so that it can be used (with staff assistance) for more than 1 hour a day? Also, the whole thing is quite scheduled so I think it’s a bit rigid in terms of what activity is done when. • When we got off the plane in Puerto Vallarta, the sharks pounced on us to sell us time shares and inviting us to look at some Cirque de Solei property. They posed as if they worked for Air Canada so beware of that. Don’t hand your hotel voucher to anyone. Also, I am used to riding in a coach bus to the resort. We were shoved in a taxi (and we crossed our fingers we were actually headed the resort). • The beach isn’t great. The water is full of jelly fish, the bottom is full of painful rocks, and there is no bar down there. • The pool (in particular the one with the water slide) has a rough concrete bottom. Every kid’s feet were shredded until they were bleeding from the rough surface. We tended to go to the other pools for that simple reason. • The elevators. OMG so hot in there. Please install a fan, somebody will faint in there!

An excellent family resort

The Now Amber is a great place for a family vacation. All staff where very friendly and accommodating. Lounge chairs at the pool areas and beach were available later in the morning. Buffet was well stocked with a variety of international foods. Wait staff at the specialty restaurants were very pleasant and well spoken. The activity and/or entertainment crew kept everyone busy with sporting and game events.

Very nice hotel, rooms excellent

The hotel is very nice, rooms are excellent and very well-furnished. Comfortable bed, huge shower, wifi everywhere. All face the ocean as far as I could tell. Pools are good, but the beach is just okay as the ocean is unusable unless you maybe have some water shoes. Buffet was decent but not outstanding, however the a la carte restaurants were all excellent. The 24-hour cafe was used regularly. Note that the Now Amber is a family resort, and Secrets right next to it is adults-only. They a [... read more]re apparently nearly identical save for the limitation.

Great trip to Puerto Vallarta

The Now Amber is a lovely resort, much smaller than what is in Riviera Maya though so if you like large sprawling resorts this is not for you. I would also say it is definitely not a 5 star but a solid 4. The best part of the resort are the employees they are all warm and welcoming, friendly and very accommodating wanting to ensure everyone enjoys their stay. The worst thing about this resort is the buffet,  [... read more]the selection is limited and very little change from one day to the next and the food was warm at best unless you had prepared eggs. The other negative is the special events take priority over the all inclusive guest. There was 2 weddings and a large convention that took over the lounge chair area right by the pool, eliminating a significant amount of seating in the middle of the afternoon for the duration of the day. The last negative comment pertains to the housekeeping of the room our mini bar was only restocked 2 times during the week, not a big problem because there is a full bar on the second floor. But the cleaning staff did not provide hand towels 3 times during the stay. I think these are little issues and would not prevent me from recommending though. Last but not least if you don’t like cigarette smoke don’t go here, smokers are so disrespectful of others enjoyment smoking in the pool is disgusting and ruins the enjoyment of those of us wanting to take in the fresh air and outdoors several guys were smoking big cigars which was difficult to escape the smoke and smell.

Very nice hotel

Hotel was good nice and clean Food however was just okay. The portions that they gave us in restaurant and also Buffett were small. Cleaning the rooms was good however a few times the maid was late and had to call to get the room done Liked the coffee place and enjoyed have a late night cold or hot drink with dessert. After being on the resort for a few days they did not have ice cream for the rest of my stay. Overall had a nice time but again the food could have been better.

Amazing Resort

The place was beautiful clean well kept, people that worked there were very nice and helpful. The rooms and view were just so beautiful. The only thing I did not like was the food in the buffet area .

Week at the Now Amber

Fabulous grounds, amazingly friendly staff, and an overall great time. The Now Amber worked very hard to ensure our stay was as enjoyable as possible. For example, my gluten free wife was given gluten free products for almost every meal by the head of the kitchen staff (bread, muffins, cookies, pasta, and even a pizza!). Our kids loved the kids club (ages 8 and 10) and went often. They also loved the kids pool and the main pool area to swim. Food was great at the a la cartes but not staffed as well as they could have been which left us waiting a couple of nights. We went to 3 nights of entertainment and enjoyed all 3 very much.
