Easily among our top 3 resorts

Loved everything about this place. The food was incredible, the staff were friendly and hard working, and we were happy with our room (we upgraded to an ocean view). Several pools to choose from, and we enjoyed the numerous activities for adults and kids. Loved the policy of "anything on the lounge chairs before 9 am will be removed", which prevented people from reserving chairs. There was never a shortage of chairs, and lots of locations to choose from. The coffee bar was a nice bonus, and the [... read more]re were several places along the edge of the property that you could sit quietly in the shade and enjoy it. The entertainment was great, all through the day and night ... and I don't say that very often !! It was easy-listening, and not outrageously loud by the pool. The peaceful live evening entertainment was moved to the lobby bar, or rooftop bar, ...or to the basement if it was going to be loud, and possibly an irritant to the guests. Perfect!

Everything as it should be

Hotel grounds and buildings are well kept. Good overall value. Decent quality and variety of food. Loved not having to worry about finding decent chairs. Lots of beach chairs and pool chairs with shade. Great beach and great terrace bar overlooking beach. Decent entertainment.

Good enough

Pros: The service is superb. The beach and ocean here is beautiful. The staff was all really great to deal with. Cons: hotel is old. Rooms are small for the price. Entertainment was sub par. Overall expensive for what you get so I think there are better resorts.

Charming Iberostar Selection Playa Mita

Great little resort. Set on a hill overlooking the ocean. Clean, well maintained, and friendly. The food was amazing in the restaurants and buffet. Staff was very attentive. The waves were a blast to play in. We would go again.

Great resort

This was our 9th trip to Iberostar Selection Playa Mita and we have been to PV 26 times so far. For money spent this resort is excellent value. It isn't our favorite out of all of hem but 2nd in line and significantly less money comparatively. The buffet is always excellent with lots of fresh choices and on staff chefs to make you up something special. There is also someone coming through the dining area with a cart of special treats. In the 12 years we have been going there it if course has more wear and tear and needs some TLC in spots but overall still great. This year we found it too busy and more kids then previous and most of the staff has slipped in their service because of being overworked but there are still some stand out workers. The beach is long and beautiful and so much fun to swim and boogie board but during full moons the water is high so your not getting out there until close to noon. They definitely need to replace the beach loungers and umbrellas but they are always available. When we have come with family the grandkids enjoyed the kids camp. All in all I would still say 4//5 for sure and possibly 5/5 if your coming with children and not going to an adult's only.

Good resort

Grounds are lovely. Pools need tiles and lights replaced, some covers were being held on with zip ties. Rooms are spacious and clean. Water in the shower was tepid at best but hot at the sink. Juan was the best concierge and made our stay wonderful. Food was good. Lots of activities every day. The kids doing activities looked like they were having a blast.

Beautiful resort

The Iberostar Playa Mita is a gorgeous resort, right up there in the best I’ve been to. The grounds are impeccable, the food is very good with a huge selection for every possible taste . The pool has the most amazing view of the ocean right in front of it, and the entertainment staff do a great job keeping everyone entertained throughout the day. A quick 20 minute Uber trip into Sayulita makes getting off the resort easy and fun - definitely go check it out! All in all, a great choice for a nice vacation.

Amazing vacation

My stay at your resort was wonderful… the grounds were beautiful, the beach and ocean are what I will miss the most … my grandsons wedding was beautifully handled by your staff… the food at your buffet was excellent and the staff friendly and attentive.. the restaurants were all very good except I was disappointed in the food at the French restaurant… not at all what I expected … the Japanese was superb with very talented chefs .. The rooms were a bit dated but very comfortable and the cleaning [... read more] was excellent … the bathrooms need some work … our stopper would either get stuck down or not go down at all making bathing difficult … and our safe didn’t work at all Overall though again I had an incredible vacation and would certainly stay at your resort again..

Disappointing Experience

The resort itself has loads of amenities, is very well laid out and the grounds are beautiful. There are also loads of chairs around the pool at all times and a very good area for children. While the public areas are kept very clean, there are maintenance issues. The sink in our room leaked on the shelf below, the air conditioning couldn't be adjusted and nothing was done about either issue during our stay. The food was almost always cold whether it was on the buffet or served at a specialty restaurant and the vegetables were often very undercooked.

Amazing hotel,had beautiful grounds very well taken care of . The food was awesome lots of choices,fresh The staff were helpful and friendly.The rooms were clean and comfortable the maid service was fabulous We will go back

Best value for money

We have stayed at this resort 7 times now and one of our daughters was married here 8 years ago. We have also stayed at both Secrets several times and this resort is better value for the cost. This last time there were some cons compared to previous visits but also some pros. The Buffett was amazing and Luis the PR and the head chef and fellow staff were fantastic wanting to make it the best experience. No more reservations at the French or Steal House. The new pizzaria was excellent. The [... read more] steak house and french were not as good as previous visits. Downgraded menus and poor wait staff but the buffet staff made up for it. Isabel at breakfast and lunch was beyond expectations as well as Gustavo at dinner. Rooms are plain but comfortable beds and very clean. We love the beach and Antonio at the beach provides great service. No friendly bartenders or this trip but Myrna was great at the tiki bar. We will highly likely stay again.

Great time! Excellent choice for our March Break (2 adults + 2 teens)

Just back from a March Break trip. Was great for our family. Hits: - Wonderful staff. Really lovely, hardworking people. The Activities team was particularly awesome, but everyone made us feel welcome. - Daytime activities. From archery, to rifle shooting (not a Canadian thing but loved it - who knew?), to ping pong, to Bingo (yes, Bingo), to pool volleyball, to beach aerobics and beyond, there was always something to do. Teens and adults could do as much - or little - as desired. - Size. B [... read more]ig enough to not feel small, but walkable. - No seaweed on the beach! (Yes, it the water can be rough and it's got some pebbles but I walked in both directions in bare feet without issue.) - Food worked for the week. Snack bar was a major hit with our kids. A la cartes were a nice change (we skipped Pacific Express due to poor reviews, but did the others). Misses: - Nothing major. Rooms were a bit dated, but worked for us. Pool needed a bit of love, but again, worked for us. We've stayed at many all-inclusives in Mexico, the DR, & Cuba, and this worked well for this life stage. While not a 5-star hotel (of course), we had a great time...and felt that the value-for-experience was strong. We would come back when back if we have grandkids - the hotel is built for multi-generational families.

Unfortunate experience

Experienced cash and jewelry theft from my room. Only received mediocre lip service in regards to the "investigation". Quite disappointing as the resort was clean and beautiful and the food was great. Hoped for a better outcome.

Excellent value for money

We have stayed at this resort 5 times and other all inclusive hotels well over 30 times. We travel to the PVR area 3 times per season. For it's price this resort is excellent. We love the gorgeous long beach and the boogie boarding and swimming. We sometimes choose a more expensive adults only and are disappointed in money spent for the little if no difference. We do find this resort not as great as it was but that could likely be due to the shortage of staff which is a worldwide issue.  [... read more]The staff is great with some super stand outs that make the extra effort. Lorena at the front desk, Antonio on the beach (when he isn't getting your chairs and umbrellas he is constantly cleaning up all the debris left by people on the beach ), Jose and Karen at the beach bar, Isabel in the buffets, Yesi in the piano bar, Rafael the restaurant manager just to name a few. All our service was excellent but they went the extra extra for us and our friends.

Good trip

Confusion over room when checking in, but was resolved by Gilberto, with thanks! Pool and grounds very nice, although pool was freezing for first 3 days. Red flag for most days, no ocean swimming. Food, plentiful and great selection, but luke warm at buffet. All Ala carts were really good. The French was our favourite. Maid service, so, so. Some days no towels, but made a call and it was resolved.

Oceanview room was fantastic!!

It was great resort due to everything was within walking distance including all a-la-cartes dining facilities. Arrived around 1 PM and was greeted with a margarita but was informed our room wasn't ready and we could check our luggage and enjoy the facilities until our room would be ready around 3 PM. The resort and vegetation was well maintained along with our room was cleaned daily. Beer allotments were hit and miss but one call to front desk and beer would be sent to our room pronto. The pool was always crystal clear and clean with many palapas to select from along with perfect weather!! As for the beach, it wasn't unusual for a red flag flying daily but the beach was excellent for walking in either direction for kms. Overall our stay was enjoyable and would return again.

Nice hotel with great amenities!

The AIR CANADA ride from the airport was long1.5 hrs, as we had to make several stops We stayed ocean front which was very nice, the beach is beautiful to walk and no problem getting chairs umbrellas are also available We went to the pool every day, you don’t have to get up at 6am to get a chair! There are lots and all have palapas for shade. Beach bar was ok, Buffet was good, specially restaurants leave a lot to be desired. They serve a large portion of meat with little veggies You do h [... read more]ave to make reservations, but this is easy with concierge bars ok, make a wide variety of drinks for everyone. There are guidelines for dress at specialty restaurants, but no one is turned away.. even those who think shorts and t-shirts are acceptable.. of course this is not the norm…. When did flip flops become evening wear? Pool & Beach! Green Too many men think this is acceptable. This is a great hotel and we would probably return. Lovely Mexico vacation!

We had a fabulous time enjoying the iberostar in the beautiful location of playa Mita. The live music and outside lunches were a treat! Our ocean front room was large, had everything we needed, a comfy bed and an amazing view of the long clean beach. The food was great everywhere, the drinks and wine were nice and served with pleasantries. The nightly entertainment was fun and entertaining. Great vacation

The resort is less than 10 years old so it has all the modern amenities including good wi-fi throughout. Rooms and common areas very clean. Beach very nice with no seaweed...water warm and clear...waves so boogie boards popular...staff at the ready with chairs, umbrellas and bar service. Pool area very large, lot's of chairs and palapas. Found food very good and varied but burgers, fries and pizza always available for the Domino's / MacDonald's crowd. Staff friendly and most speak Eng [... read more]lish and wear masks at all times. Our first trip since Covid and we felt comfortable. Guests do not need to wear masks on beach or common areas but must wear masks when interacting with staff and at restaurants (except while seated). Covid testing available on site for $. Golf course on site and is a nice layout which includes some ocean views (+/- $100.00 USD per round with cart and a bucket of balls). It has been sold recently and transitioning to new ownership which may explain why greens were very nice but traps were not maintained.

Environmentally Focused Resort

Check in at the Iberostar Playa Mita was quick and efficient. We were quite impressed by the service and almost everyone we came across spoke English which made it easier. We were very impressed on how Environmentally focused the resort was. Bravo on that !
