Poor experience. The rooms have virtually no sound insulation, making it very difficult to sleep due to noise from neighboring rooms and floors above. The dining experience was equally disappointing, as Royalton Splash guests appear to have fewer restaurant options and lower-quality food choices than guests staying at Royalton Punta Cana. The resort creates the impression that Splash guests are second-class customers. Would not recommend.

Amazing Family Resort for littles!
This was our first family trip with our 4 year old and 1 year old and Royalton Splash Punta Cana did not disappoint. There was always somwthing to do for both kids, whether it was the pool, the beach, or the water park. The rooms were fabulous and well maintained. Only thing that could be fixed was the showers did not drain well and would leak from the side to the floor. The restaurants were delicious and service was impeccable, particularly at the Mexican Restaurant. Overall, amazing trip and w[... read more]e would come back with family/friends!

Family fun
Lots of fun in the water park and pools. The beach was beautiful. We could only get into one À la carte restaurant as they were always booked, and the one we got into was not good, food was horrible. The food at the buffet seemed to be the same every day, so it got old, fast. The staff were good, helpful and friendly. Beautiful resort, sunny and hot the whole time, which was great! We all enjoyed ourselves except for the 2 days that my wife and I got sick

Medicore resort at best
Royalton Splash was quite run down in comparison to other Royalton resorts (including the sister resort next door) that we’ve stayed at. The buffet food was repetitive and often cold. The staff at breakfast were grumpy and barely tended to the tables. The butler was absolutely useless all he did the entire vacation was book 3 al a carte restaurants. We did not get the beach bag, bottle of wine, bottle of champagne or snacks in the room as advertised. He msged us daily asking where we were and no[... read more]t once did he connect with us on the vacation in person other than the first day and last day when he expected a tip. The pool tiles were falling off and my daughter cut the top of her foot the first day on them in the main pool. The pool entertainment was lousy and often didn’t start until 3pm.
The beach was beautiful sand and well kept. The beach chairs however were literally on top of each other and not spaced out it was impossible to enjoy without 10 people around you at all times. They were all piled at the top of the beach ways away from the water and squished together like sardines. Was to uncomfortable.
The room had a weird pull out bed when advertised with 2 queen beds. The shower leaked into the hallway and into the toilet area. The door lock did not work. The back patio door had no handle. The drawers would often open and get stuck. There was no hair dryer in our room at all.
The flight on the way had none of the upgrades that were paid for. The seats were uncomfortable, 3 in a row (not the double comfy seats as advertised). I had to pay for drinks and meals which were advertised as included. The way home was perfect as anticipated and the plane food and service was amazing.

Good enough for the price
I write this at home horrendously ill with travellers diarrhea which started 24 hours after returning, I thought I dodged a bullet but no such luck.
The resort is a 6/10 but for what we paid I’m ok with that. I had very low expectations going in after reading reviews so I was actually pleasantly surprised. If food is a high priority for you, do not stay here. If you just want to chill and drink a lot it’s perfect. Overall the staff is phenomenal, the Mexican, Italian (Grazie) and hibachi re[... read more]staurants were great food, but I would avoid the buffet. rooms were big but dated. Needs a refresh and better food and it could be a hidden gem

Amazing place
Perfect for families and groups.
Large resort with lots of choice for quiet or party areas.
Our room overlooked a pool and swim up bar.
Not noisy at night.
Lots of daily food choices at the buffet restaurant.
We also tried a couple of the a la cartes, but the buffet was our favourite.
Perfect weather with occasional brief rain showers.
In room fridge restocked daily with water, beer and pop.
Staff everywhere were friendly.
Only issue was smokers outside of designated areas.

Amazing Resort
We had a wonderful time. Travelled as a family with a 9 and 11 year old (non diamond club). Grounds were amazing, water park was an added bonus, food was great. Beach was wonderful. Rooms were a bit dated. We stayed in unit 22 which was one of the furthest units from anything, but we were next to the splash lobby. We did three à la cartes. Didn’t have trouble with the booking system like some others did. We loved the scoops gelato bar and the cafe. Buffet always had lots of food. No[... read more] one got sick from our group. The pools were wonderful but could use some fixing up as there was some sharp tiles that were causing issues for some of the kids.
Overall it was a wonderful vacation, and would highly recommend especially if you have kids that enjoy water parks.

Definitely nowhere close to a 4.5 or 5 star at best 3.5.
We travel to the Dominican Republic every year — sometimes twice a year — and this was by far the most disappointing resort experience we have ever had.
From the moment we arrived, there were issues. The room smelled strongly of septic, the TVs were not working, and the fridge did not work either. Basic room functionality should not be a problem at any resort.
The pool situation was extremely frustrating. There were only nine shaded umbrellas available at the main pool for the entire resor[... read more]t. We woke up earlier and earlier each day — even as early as 6:30 a.m. — and still could not secure one. For a resort of this size, this is completely inadequate. On top of that, the pool itself was disgusting. We actually had to inform the entertainment staff that it needed cleaning.
The entertainment team was mediocre at best. You would see them briefly in the afternoon — perhaps three times total throughout the day — and that was it. There was very little engagement or energy.
Restaurant reservations were a nightmare. We were initially told that reservations could only be made at 5:00 p.m. for the following day. Every time we attempted this, everything was fully booked. After three days of frustration, we were finally told that reservations could actually be made starting at 8:00 a.m. — despite having asked multiple staff members previously. The inconsistency and lack of communication were unacceptable.
Food quality and availability were also disappointing. For the entire week, there was no lettuce available at lunch or dinner, meaning you could not even make a basic salad.
Three days into our stay, we came down with a stomach virus that was clearly spreading throughout the resort. After speaking with multiple guests, it was obvious many people were affected. We spent four days in our room recovering. What was most concerning was that the resort did nothing to inform guests or attempt to contain the outbreak. They could have enforced hand sanitizing, sanitized shared utensils more frequently, or taken visible preventative measures — but instead, it felt like they were trying to ignore the situation.
We will absolutely never stay at this resort again.

Decent trip
Overall we do have a good trip. The staff here were very friendly and welcoming. The beach was stunning although a bit rough. Drinks at this resort were top notch. Made perfectly and massive variety. The food was just ok, typical resort food and nothing special. There are lots of pools but they do need maintenance, my daughter cut her foot at two different pools from broken drain as well as missing tiles causing sharp edges, also one of the pool lights was popped out of the hole and just floatin[... read more]g at the side of the pool with wires exposed. Water park was actually great and our kids had the best time there. That being said 5 out of 8 of our party did become sick with vomiting and diarrhea (which seems to be common at this resort from reading other reviews). Overall we did have a good trip however I would not visit this resort again nor would I personally recommend it. That being said if you have booked here I do think you will have a good time as long as you don’t get sick.

Deeply Disappointing From Start to Finish
Our stay at this hotel was, without question, one of the most frustrating travel experiences we’ve ever had. From the moment we arrived, the customer service was shockingly poor. Check-in took over two hours, and throughout that entire ordeal the staff showed no urgency, no friendliness, and offered no apology for the delay.
Because check-in dragged on so long, we missed the buffet entirely on our first day. Any traveler—especially those dealing with long flights, airports, buses, and hungry [... read more]children—knows that access to a real meal is essential. Instead, we were redirected to a small café serving hot dogs and hamburgers. The grill area appeared poorly maintained, and the food looked and tasted like it had been sitting out far too long.
We paid thousands of dollars to upgrade to the Diamond Club, hoping the higher tier would offer better service, care, and overall experience. Unfortunately, it was a complete waste. Nothing improved—in fact, things somehow felt worse.
At the Diamond Club, we interacted with a staff member named Carlos, whose attitude was dismissive, unhelpful, and lacking in basic empathy. For a service tier that is supposed to provide elevated hospitality, this was incredibly disappointing.
The wristbands used for room access were also poorly designed. Three of them fell off or were lost in the first day alone, resulting in a $450 fee—an unreasonable charge for something that clearly isn’t secure or durable.
Our assigned butler, Miguel, offered no meaningful assistance. The entire point of the Diamond Club is supposed to be convenience and personalized attention, but we received neither. He even gave us incorrect information about restaurant availability—telling us a restaurant was closed only for us to walk by later and see it open and filled with guests.
To make matters worse, our daughter cut her foot on a poorly maintained bunk bed, and not a single staff member showed care, concern, or initiative to address the issue. No assistance, no apology, and no attempt to fix the hazard.
The “premium alcohol” included with Diamond Club status was another disappointment. Not only did we have to specifically ask for it every time, but we were often refused or told it was only available in certain areas. Even small, simple requests—like breaking a $5 bill—were met with indifference or refusal.
Overall, nothing about this stay reflected quality, hospitality, or value for the money spent. The Diamond Club upgrade was especially regrettable. Between the poor service, misleading information, lack of care, and countless inconveniences, I can confidently say:
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Great Waterpark for Kids!
My family and I enjoyed our stay at Royalton Splash this September 2025. We upgraded to Diamond Club and enjoyed the perks. They had a separate check-in area for DC members that had A/C, snacks, drinks, and a bar with top-shelf selections. Our Junior suite was very spacious located in building 27. We were assigned one butler which delayed services however, he did a good job. The main pool always had great entertainment and games to get everyone involved. The Waterpark was a great time for our 13[... read more] and 8 year old, us parents had a ball as well! The waterpark has tons of seating and doesn't allow food inside which helps keep the park clean. The buffet was below mid with not much selection to choose from. I suggest shuttling to Royalton Punta Cana as their buffet is much better. Under the Sea, ZEN, and Mexicana Cantina are the restaurants we enjoyed the most. The steak at Under the Sea was better than Hunter's Steakhouse. The night entertainment at Royalton Splash was great with magic shows, Karaoke, trivia, dancing, and much more. We had a great time on our excursions and highly recommend the Monkey Sanctuary and the Seaquarium. The Shuttle to Royalton Punta Cana was very frequent however, seats fill up quick! The beach is a short shuttle to Royalton PC(2-5 mins), walk straight through the resort and you are at the beach(less than 15 mins) On the DC side of the beach, there was a lot of seaweed which we were not fans of. Overall the service should improve at Royalton Splash however this is a good resort for families.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay
Just came back from a 7 day stay and as a first timer in the DR, I was pleasantly surprised after hearing lots of mixed to negative reviews of this resort. This resort had it all. The grounds were well kept, staff was friendly and helpful and spent lots of time in the beautiful pool with a swim-up bar. Entertainment was fantastic, we enjoyed the Michael Jackson show, the magic show and the circus. The resort is very family friendly but also catered to all ages, so couples and singles can also ha[... read more]ve a great time as well, no matter the age. As a guest at Splash, you have access to the other resort which we also spent lots of time at. Food at buffet was ok; we got pretty tired of it by the 3rd or 4th day but that's typical from any resort from what I hear. I highly recommend the Mexican and Italian a la carte restaurants. The beach had lots of sargassum despite the hotel's best efforts to keep it off the shore and on the beach. But it also depends on the day as when we went before a few days earlier to check it out, it seemed to be okay. The water park is small and is geared towards kids but there's about 4-5 slides that are meant for all ages. Overall, we would definitely come back after trying a few other resorts!

Meh
Dated; broken lights; mediocre food - not what we were expecting given Royalton freely adds "luxury" after their name everywhere we looked. The app for booking a la carte res was terrible. It gave us a res on a night when the restau was closed??... It also constantly crashed. Nothing was simple or easy.

Amazing Resort, Beach, Staff, and Food - Highly Recommend
We loved our vacation! I took my 9yo son who immediately made loads of vacation friends and was living his best life between the waterpark and the beach. You get to use the Splash and the Royalton Punta Cana Resort. Its a BIG place, but the little trolley runs all the time and you never wait longer than 5min for a trolley. Reservations are hard to get for the a la cartes, but the food was great when we did get a reservation. The buffets were great. The rooms are basic, clean and modern enough. T[... read more]he staff were all amazing and we are so grateful for their kindness when one day my son got too much sun and became very ill. They were incredible. Honestly? I have no complaints! They're doing a great job at this resort and I absolutely recommend it.

An Honest Review
We recently embarked on a week-long journey to Royalton Splash Punta Cana. The staff exhibited a commendable level of friendliness, and the resort maintained a satisfactory level of cleanliness. We were enticed by the concept of "sleep at one and party at two." While this notion holds some truth, we were disappointed to discover that access to the dining options at the sister resort, Royalton Punta Cana, came with an additional cost. This was particularly disheartening, as we had hoped to dine t[... read more]here. Furthermore, we encountered challenges in securing reservations for à la carte dining, as availability was consistently limited. Despite our efforts to set alarms to access the booking app promptly, we often found ourselves unsuccessful and had to seek assistance from guest services. They were able to help us secure a reservation at the Japanese restaurant, which proved to be quite delightful. Aside from these two issues, we genuinely enjoyed our stay.

Perfect family resort
The Royalton splash Punta Cana was the perfect family getaway. The waterpark is great for kids of all ages, the food had a great variety and tasted great and they are very accommodating to allergies. The rooms are nice and well maintained, and all the staff is super hospitable.
