Don’t pick the Bavaro Resort

The compound had about 7 resorts, don’t choose the Bavaro one. The customer service there is terrible, they give you dirty looks the whole time and they only speak spanish. The buffet also has a terrible smell that makes you nauseous when you eat. Pick the Punta Cana one or any of the other resorts. The entertainment was good and we still had access to some other resorts so we were able to enjoy ourselves.

Gorgeous property

Property was gorgeous and clean. Food was good. Not always hot/fresh. Entertainment nightly was decent. Room was nice despite leaks in ceilings. Drinks awesome. Worst part was staff. Rude and Uninterested in serving clients

Bahia Principe Bavaro Grande Review from a First Timer

Room we checked into was musty smelling, didn't have hot water and the patio door would not lock. We asked to change rooms and were accommodated in our request although it took and bit of back and forthing and coming back later to pick up the key when the rooms was ready. Ground were beautiful, the staff was extremely friendly and pleasant. Even those who were selling excursions and trinkets were polite and not pushy. I believe that the confusion and congestion would have been better managed if the coordinator was able to provide instructions and call out the ready orders in English. Through it all and there were many frustrations expressed by the waiting customers, the staff was pleasant and professional.

Bahia Principe grand Bavara

Grounds were beautiful but needs maintenance.Room was nice but needs maintenance but very comfortable. Food was good but repetitive. Too many,mosquitoes I got bitten all over my feet . Service could improve at the buffet

Great Grounds and Beach

The hotel was nice, restaurants great food, beach nice and clean, as was pool. Friendly staff. However, our room, although clean, was infested with mosquitos every nite and we came home with bites all over our face, etc.

Wonderful resort

Everything was great, service was good, food was above average, property was very well maintained, although the resort was a bit busy, it was sometimes difficult to find a good spot at the pool. The beach was well kept, drinks were unlimited,

Not impressed

The grounds were lovely. The pools were nice,but way over crowded. The beach was difficult, on a hill, too many chairs. The rooms were mediocre,our view on balcony was the back of a building where staff were working and yelling at 6am, and trucks unloading supplies, very disappointed ??. The cleaning staff were good the first 2 days, then they didn’t take dirty glasses away or replace them, sometimes the blankets would be on the bed, sometimes in a heap on the chair. Too many problems

Food and staff was amazing. Beach was terrible, sloped, could not get a chair and they were lined up like a movie theatre. Pool was fine. Our room was poorly looked after, no coffee, towels etc. Room cards stopped working 3 times. Little bugs in our room. 3 out of 6 people on the trip got such bad bug bites their legs were covered in large red spots, Mosquitos maybe. Such a huge resort its far to walk anywhere but there were plenty of trolleys.

Poorly run resort

Dining wonderful Rooms were old, smelly, horrible beds and furniture, plugs didn’t work most of the time..these rooms should be gutted The first 2 days rooms were cleaned, that’s it! Our bare feet would be black upon bedtime. Room remained cluttered, empty dirty cups, glasses, nothing wiped down. The only thing that was done was the bed was made. We were locked out of our room till 1 in the morning. We had to get angry with the front desk in order to get new keys. Service was terrible. No pool service but we could tolerate that. It took 3 hrs to book in, they didn’t have a third room for us Loved the grounds, shuttles and the variety of foods. Wish there was some English entertainment Unless service, rooms changed , I wouldn’t go back I know there are lovely rooms available, we were very unlucky. This trip was booked 6 months before, no excuse

Resort way to busy...not enough staff to handle cleaning of tables during breakfast and supper...mosquitoes in lobby very bad

rooms were very nice ...grounds and pool and beach area very nice...easy to walk on the beach...vendors were not pushy...should teach staff to comunicate and understand english...all in all not a bad experience., but could have been better

Good but need more work to return to recover state

I think that both hotel and other services (room especially) need improvement. We went here as we have been before but service is not yet at that level of pre Covid.Room was cleaned but a lot of mosquitoes inside, toilet holder broken, shampo holder didn’t work, tub with stains or damaged, tv hardly could see any program in English. Reception seems very slow and hardly helpt to get any information if needed. In the resort was really hard to get coffe and drinks ( beer) because either coffe mascines were not ready or in very small number in restaurants. We had to ask waiters to bring water, coffe or beer and in some cases we hardly get it or got it at the end of meal. Pool was very crowded and hardly could find place to sit unless you wake up early. The place is good but not sure if I will go again. Thanks

Disappointing Smelly resort experience!

Disappointing Stay My Brother requested a crib for this 14 month old Before leaving for this resort. He did not get a crib for Two days after several attempts made to the front desk. Next the place smells bad the Buffet Restaurant has a smell kinda like sewage that makes you not want to eat there! Food and service is subpar on a good day! Our Room had mold in our bathroom! Bahia compound of 7 resorts in Punta Cana is not recommended

I DO NOT RECOMMEND HERE 2.5 star 3 at most The bad - wifi works 35% of the time and slow,can be upgraded for $, but it won’t improve - Food is always cold at the buffets/ under cooked and burnt even when they first open - Short staffed/ rude - Taking over 2hrs at the à la carts restaurants - Can only pick 3 a la cart restaurants - Staff can’t speak English - Pools cold - Staff doesn’t seam happy at all - Live wires out in the open - Things In disrepair - Room keys quit [... read more] working and taking 45 minutes to get new ones - Room had a lot of water in it from the ac, took 2 try’s to fix - Bugs are really really bad at night no matter where you are, you will get eaten alive - Service is really really slow The good - There are some good staff/ really nice and fun, only found 6 - Room was always clean - Food at a la carte restaurants really good - Golf carts to take you to places From all of the people I have talked to this is one of the worst spots that they have been to, but you can go for your self and see it first hand, but I wouldn’t recommend it. If you see good reviews it’s either they were payed or it was there first one The Bahia chain is amazing. I loved all the Bahia resorts in other parts of the Dominican as well as in Mexico. My all time favourite resort ever is the Bahia Pincipe luxury runaway bay Jamaica that we went to 2 months prior to the Bahia compound in Punta Cana. We have been to 9 Bahia resorts. This resort compound was severely disappointing. It had the potential to be so much better. Hot food and the property sprayed for insects would have made a world of difference.

Hotel/tripcentral review

Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro villas #30 and up, BEWARE!! They call these rooms superior suites, not even close! They are old and falling apart, the musty smell when we got to the room was overwhelming. The room and adjoining room was invested with mosquitos and there were tiles missing in the flooring. We paid to upgrade to a premium room and that was worth every penny, villa #22. These villas appear new and are very modern as well as being close to the beach.

Beautiful place

The grounds were well maintained, the public areas were cleaner than most I've seen down south, the rooms were clean and spacious BUT a fan in the bathroom is a must and the shower door is not big enough to stop the floor of the room from getting soked. Now, in our case we are old and have bad knees and legs so the fact the buildings have 3 floors and have no elevators we were exhausted every day from stairs because we were on the 3rd floo [... read more]r. In general. NICE spot. It's too bad there was too many waves at the beach.

Stay away!

Terrible (slow) service, run down and unsafe. Took 3 hours to check in and buffets were dirty and had bugs. They ran out of alcohol (tequila and rum) mid stay. We will not be returning and felt as though we paid for a 5 star but went to a 2 star max

Fantastic Resort

The grounds were clean and green spaces well maintained. The pools were clean and varied. Food was abundant and varied. The swim up bars were a nice touch. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. There were many ramps for walkers and wheelchairs to access the different areas.

Amazing resort

Bahia Principe is amazing resort, but don't use West Jet . We had worse transfer from airport PUJ to Bahia Principe . They could not resolve it during half hour ping pong me from one reprehensive to another, even I show them my printed booked documents. at the end one of them said , I done it specially , I was teaching you how you must talk with me. For next my visit , I will use different air fare company like Air Canada , Transat , and will try avoid West Jet . Beautiful surroundings

Beautiful surroundings, fairly good service. Good food but came home sick on the plane with food poisoning. Not a happy ending. Would not go back. If you are the least bit afraid of the food, don't go it will ruin your holiday. AC in the room very substandard. Lots of mosquitos in the room. Wifi was terrible even after paying the premium.

Beautiful and Relaxing

Our Agent Natasha Spencer did an amazing job making the arrangements for trip. We got exactly what we asked for.. 2 bedroom junior suite close to beach and pools. It was conveniently arranged so that at checkout- you can go straight to airport and catch flight. The resort was well kept and beautiful. Staff were friendly and helpful even though they had difficulty with English. The rooms were a little dated and could be cleaner but it was good. Lots of great food to select from and local [... read more] drinks. There was entertainment for the entire family every night which was awesome. Sadly, it was sad to see the large amounts of food wastage in the Buffet area from guest especially when surrounding areas of resort has visible poverty. It was a pleasant first time experience.
