Beautiful Resort

The resort was beautiful and indeed a hideaway far from the main highway. The restaurants were excellent but some of the menus were limited to only a few entries. The service was very good and the rooms were spacious and well acquainted. We had to change rooms because the top floor of the diamond oceanview Terrance has a second level leading to the roof sporting a jacuzzi and lounge area which my wife could not access but the transition to one floor lower was done without question and on [... read more]ly our comfort in mind. Our suite had a butler who was very hard working and gracious but we did not receive a turn down service which was part of our package and went a day with no housekeeping at all but this might have been attributed to the room change. The service at pool side was amazing and any drink we ordered out of the norm was put together for us. We had one bad dining experience at the Armadillo tex mex restaurant- my wife ordered the lobster dinner for an added price and after waiting close to 90 minutes for our meal we just walked out and went to the buffet. The manager found us at the buffet and was very apologetic but there were guests who arrived at the tex next after us who were done there courses and leaving while we were still waiting which made me question why the lobster dinner was taking so long and whether it had been frozen but in all fairness I didn't ask, it was my choice to leave. If you want to take a taxi into Cancun from the Royalton a round trip will be about $140 American currency which we did take advantage of for a wonderful Sunset cruise on a galleon which included a surf and turf dinner on board. Because we booked the diamond suites we had private checking and checkout and had many privileges such as priority reservations for the 10 dining rooms and many other extras from bedding, robes and slippers to top level alcohol and a private adult pool and chez lounges around the pool. I was a bit disappointed in the evening shows as they were more kid and family oriented with no adult themed Broadway or nightclub performances in their theatre but no hardship as we enjoyed them regardless. All in all for the money and value we were very satisfied and happy with the resort. Excellent getaway spot

We had an Oceanview Jr. Suite in the Diamond Club Hideaway section (adults only). The hotel is close to the Cancun airport and easily accessible. The hotel is grand and contemporary in style, without excess bling. The spa is excellent as are the food options. The entertainment was less interesting, but the poolside afternoons were lovely. Great service from all. Unfortunately the beach was not attractive, with much sargasso, despite efforts to clean it, the water appears dirty.

Not highly recommended

The hotel is grand and beautiful but too many flaws. Not senior friendly. On arrival, The room we were assigned in was too far from every activity. My husband has knees problem and difficulty walking far. Asking for a wheelchair we were told we have to pay. Room#’s were not in any numeric sequence, on level of lobby you have 5000, 3000, and 2000 series. Too many trip hazards. I had a fall on one of the designed water pond with stone that is dirty on one of the guest service rows of rooms, asking [... read more] where the nearest washroom was. Medical staff was helpful brought wheelchair and put a lotion on my sore left leg. Washrooms are located nowhere near and poor signage.

Service is incredible

Hotel is spotless, cleaning service fantastic and the service was a five star. My only complaint is the relentless harassing of attending a presentation of a time share (though they never call it a time share but that’s what it is). However, in saying that, they were only doing their job and took us saying “no” in good humour. But it was constant repetition to convince you otherwise. Awesome way to celebrate our anniversary

Spent the week enjoying everything. From Edwardo in the hideaway buffet meeting us every morning with mimosas and coffee to Geronimo at the hideaway pool remembering our favourite drinks with his great sense of humour. Can’t forget Alex at the Zen for providing a great meal along with providing the energy to make the night most enjoyable. The beach, the rooms, the service, the food was definitely over the top. Only home for a few days and already missing it.

Amazing Clean Resort

It was a 10 out of 10. Food was excellent, pools exceptional grounds were very clean. There was a cleaning staff throughout the resort. The restaurants were great. The entertainment was awesome. The rooms were great ? The maids did a great job cleaning all the rooms.

Great resort!

The resort was very clean and well appointed. The staff took pride in their work and were very friendly. The rooms were large and very comfortable. I felt very safe wandering the grounds. There were many dining options and the food was excellent. (Watch out for the $20 US bag of Lays chips!) We loved the beach and swimming in the ocean for a few days until the seaweed made it impossible. Great for kids

The kids pool are was amazing. The boys wouldn't stay out of it. We had a swim out right in front of the water park. Highly recommend so you dont have to fight for lounges.. Pool chairs and umbrellas are gone early in the morning. People are up at 5:30 to put towels on chairs. They dont enforce rules to stop hoarding lounges. The food was resort food, good but not great. Restaurants are hard to book. The trucks had amazing fresh fish fingers. The property is beautiful but unfortunately the be [... read more]aches were covered with the sawgrass. Ocean swimming was not enjoyable.

2nd time at Royalton Cancun

I had a super relaxing and fun vacation. The staff are all very nice and helpful. Things that could use some attention ceiling in the shower was falling down and the tap handle fell off. There was an old sock in the baths and the glasses in my room were dirty It is next to impossible to get dining reservations at restaurants. We had to go to front desk and plead with them to find some for us. The Buffett is ok but I’m not eating all my meals at a Buffett. Honestly I am not su [... read more]re I would recommend to a friend based on how frustrating it was to book dinner reservations . And you can only book 2 days in advance ? You get either 5:30 or 9 pm It is much better in the adults only side that’s where we stayed last time. We had little ones with us this time and they had lots of fun .

Great resort !

My wife and I just got back from a one week stay at the Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun resort and we really enjoyed our stay ! The hotel, the room , the pools , restaurants and staff service were all extremely good. We booked it with the Diamond Club perk, and although we appreciated very personalized service from our assigned butler and the 1-hour hydrotherapy session, not so sure it was really needed. The only negative point I would say was the beach which was really not enjoyable because of [... read more] the enormous amounts of sargassum (sea weeds) that would flow in constantly, forcing most of the people to use the pools instead. Because of that, most chairs around the pool would get taken by 7am each morning, forcing us to get out real early (6am) to drop our beach blankets on the chairs to ensure we got a goot spot. Otherwise it was almost impossible to find any chairs on the entire resort afterwards, Other than that, I can say that everything about the resort was really high end, with high end services.

Loved it here!

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this resort. The whole resort was very clean and well maintained. The service we received was exceptional! Very friendly staff everywhere we went. The food was great with lots of options. We particularly loved the coffee bar and gelato! What a treat! My husband and son made use of the gym daily. It was very well kept with lots of equipment. I participated in morning yoga and Zumba classes. All instructors were fabulous. The grounds of the resort are beautiful a [... read more]nd the rooms were very nice. We loved hanging out by the infinity pools every day. Another selling point was the resort’s proximity to the airport!

Almost Great

Visiting this location was my first experience with an all inclusive location. The rooms were exactly as advertised, they were great. Very clean and well looked after during our stay. The staff was very helpful and there is a LOT of staff to help, very friendly always with a smile. I did find it to be very large ( larger than I would want in the future) some of the restaurants were a long walk. There is a very well appointed buffet with plenty of options PROBLEM was a lot of the food wasn' [... read more]t very warm, some was actually cold. Cold scrambled eggs really don't cut it but you can get freshly made omlettes. The other restaurants were difficult to get bookings at a reasonable time for me. The Italian offering was down in the kids section. Upcharges at the restaraunts for improved steaks or cuts was tremendously expensive. example at the Steakhouse on site to move up to a better cut of steak cost $ 180.00 US, in my opinion that is an unjustifiable charge. Honestly between the food and the size of the overall facility this resort isn't one I will be going to in the future. The ocean beach really was un-useable due to seaweed coming in, they tried to keep it at bay but couldn't keep up.

Great resort!

We really enjoyed our time at Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun. The rooms were beautiful and cleaned daily. Food was great, a large variety to choose from. We did run into troubles trying to book reservations through the app; however, we went to guest services, and they were super helpful and booked us in for dinner reservations. Drinks were always cold, and service was quick!

Still full from the amazing food!

My husband and I just got back from the Royalton Hideaway and I want to board a plane and head right back! The resort was super clean. The food was five star. The coffee shop had the best pastries and we tried every coffee drink on the menu and we were in love with every one of them. Will be going back to this resort!

Paradise!

This resort was amazing, the rooms are bright and spacious and the cleanest I have ever seen. If you are hungry there are many many food options, if you are thirsty there is a bar withing 50 strides all staffed with some of the nicest employees I have ever met. The 13 pools are spotless, the washrooms are plentiful and clean.....truly there was not anything I did not enjoy and am looking forward to going back in 2 years.

Stay away from this resort

Value proposition? Zero HUGELY Overpriced for what they can deliver. Stayed at Hidaway Diamond Club - top tier price for a two-star motel quality. Daily struggle to get your room clean (forget about turndown service), VERY dated furniture and rooms desperately needing a complete renovation (shower drain covers missing, handles of the shower valves falling out, grime and calcium buidup on the "rain" shower heads, one of the bathroom sinks constantly clogging, closet doors "partially" working, th [... read more]e same with the balcony doors). The Front Line staff - FANTASTIC, the management - utter failure, not caring, not giving a damn, wholly dedicated to push their version of a "vacation club." Add to this the fact that they are extremely short-staffed, old dingy beach towels (that are constantly in short supply), room towels that were at one point white, but not in recent history, Old, breaking down beach loungers, beach bars that looks like they might present some health/safety hazards. One thing is for sure: we will never stay in the Royalton property again.

Royalton Riviera Cancun

Check-In & Room Check-in was smooth even though we arrived on a full bus. The Hideaway has its own separate check-in area, which was a nice touch and helped speed things up. We didn’t use Diamond Club, just stayed in a regular room, which was clean and spacious. It did face the mangrove swamp (not the ocean or resort), but honestly, we didn’t spend much time in the room or on the balcony anyway. The jet tub in the room didn’t work that great and took a long time to fill, but everything else was [... read more] solid — room was cleaned daily, towels replaced, minibar always stocked. No towel animals or extras, but everything was comfortable. Food & Drinks We tried quite a few restaurants and Dorado and Hunter’s Steakhouse were our favorites. We also did the Zen teppanyaki dinner, which was definitely worth it — awesome food and a fun show. The buffet was good, especially for breakfast, but the omelet station always had a bit of a line. I kept it simple with bacon, eggs, and toast most mornings. Drinks were top-notch — we tried tons of different cocktails, but the passionfruit margarita stood out. Bartenders were friendly and creative, and we never had trouble finding something new to try. Pools, Gym & Activities The pools were awesome. We stuck to the same one most days — close to the main pool but still chill. Servers came around nonstop with drinks, and tipping early in the day definitely helped keep the drinks flowing. I hit the gym a few times too — it's really well-equipped and clean. We didn’t try the spa because the prices were outrageous. One of the highlights was our trip to Isla Mujeres. We rented a golf cart, toured the island, and spent some time eating and drinking at a beach club. The food there was amazing and it was such a cool way to explore the area at our own pace. Service & Vibe The staff were all fantastic — especially the servers around the pool. They were super attentive and kept the energy fun and relaxed, even if things weren’t always lightning fast (they have a lot of people to serve). A little tip goes a long way. The overall vibe of the resort was whatever you wanted it to be — chill, party, romantic — a good mix of everything. Beach Only real downside was the beach. The waves were rough during our stay and the seaweed situation wasn’t great. There was a big pile of it you had to climb over just to get to the water, which kind of killed the beach vibe. Overall All in all, it was a fantastic trip and we’d definitely consider going back — especially for the pools, drinks, food, and overall atmosphere. Just don’t go in expecting perfect beach days, and you’ll have a blast.
