Disappointing

There was black mold on our bathroom ceiling and I ended up with bacterial pneumonia hospitalized for 3 days which the doctor at the hospital said it could certainly be caused by mold They switched our room. The new room had a faulty electrical outlet. Theywere supposed to fix it but never returned. They put a huge cable outlet running across the room which could have ended up with one of us tripping. Not luxury at all

This hotel is simply the worst I’ve experienced. Very short staffed , bad food and management ! The closed restaurants and canceled reservations because they’re under staffed . Checking in took over an hour because they only have one person working the front desk ! They sell you on upgrading to diamond luxury club which is absolutely useless and waste of money They give you a butler that can’t do anything because the hotel can’t simply provide you with nothing ! TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE

Unfortunately we had a very bad experience at the Roylton Chic. Staffing - while some staff were great, shoutout to Raul, a great deal were not friendly. It was like we were bothering them. Food - this was a great disappointment. First dinner steakhouse, my wife had the Chicken brochette. Chicken pieces were so overcooked you could not eat it. Next morning we had a pickup at 9:30 to play golf. Went to the Diamond club for breakfast. Arrived at 8:45, ordered breakfast right away. Did not arri [... read more]ve and had to leave at 9:25 to catch our taxi. There was only one waitress serving the entire restaurant. Next night in the Italian, I ordered what was described as a variety of fresh fish. It was deep fried group of fish pieces that were so over cooked that tasted terrible. Then we had lunch at the beach restaurant. We ordered chicken wings, taco salad and a Caesar salad. The chicken wings sat under the warming lights for 30 minutes waiting for the salads. We had to ask the waiter what was the delay. He advised the cook was new and learning. Then we watched the cook and waiter use their bare hands to prepare the salads. We decided at that point to the leave the resort. We met with the Sunwing representative on sighr to file a formal complaint. That person Dubby was very good and assisted us wanting to know all the issues. We them met with the manager of the property to review our issues. We made arrangements to move to another resort. In 35 years of travelling, we have never left a resort due to issues. Sunning refunded us for the days we were on at the Royalton Chic but lost a full day of our vacation moving to the other resort. Worst experience ever!!

First time in my may may years of travel have I ever left a resort early. The noice from the pool and the construction/repairs was unbearable. Always being approached to buy spa packages from different employees. The food was terrible, always dry and overcooked. Service was non existent in many cases. Second day waited 45 minutes for our breakfast and finally had to leave as we were golfing. The final straw was when I watched my server reach over the kitchen counter and pick up all the ingre [... read more]dients for my salad with his bare hands and then watched the cook making the food ungloved and not washing hands- totally unacceptable! We moved to another resort after that. Sunwing did reimburse for the 4 nights, but did loose a day of vacation having to pack up and move.

Great for the price

We thought I was clean and well maintained. The staff were friendly and energetic. We enjoyed how close the pool and restaurants were to our room. Seating at both the beach and pool was limited after 9 am.

Amazing travel agent and resort

The resort was well laid out, everything was clean, and the restaurants and the food were great! They had a wonderful little coffee shop and their barista was exceptional and very friendly. The pools were very clean and all the bar staff were courteous and fast. We had a larger group and they accommodated us with our dinner reservations.

Great resort

Clean, right on the ocean, surf was rough with yellow flag most days. Great staff. Food was excellent. Pools nice, grounds beautiful. Option to upgrade but did not do so- not necessary for us. Did not go on any excursions.

Nice but not at the standard of the Royalton Brand

Stayed at many Royalton hotels and this specific location definitely is in need of an upgrade and refresh The hotel rooms were sub-standard - mold in the washrooms and very dated look and feel. For some reason there is a window in the shower that directly faces the bed - very strange. The lobby, pool area, walk areas, all had chipped stones, and or broken tiles. The pool absolutely did NOT have enough seating areas. We had to get up at 6:30am just to make sure there was a chair for the day. It is all inclusive, however the small cabanas were $50US to rent - so they were empty and yet there was no place to sit. People were taking other peoples chairs and umbrellas. At one point, they also ran out of towels. The pool was also not very clean and every day, since there was wind, one of the small pools was completely covered in sand. Public washrooms, were clean, but sometimes, ran out of T-paper, and the stall door handles were either "hanging-on" or broken off. The restaraunts, there are four BUT only two on a given night were open, so was very hard to book to eat since the reservations were already booked up. The cafeteria, was the only option for eating. It was good, but every day, breakfast, lunch and dinner - you get very bored with eating and what is available. Would have been nice to be able to dress up for a nice dinner. Gift shop is very expensive. If you need sunscreen, the min price is between 29-49US for a bottle. On a positive, the people were nice and friendly. Others, were a little desparate for tips.

Not recommended

We travelled to Royalton chic 25 th of February to March 4th, 2026. Overall good resort in the beginning, foods not good at all. I had only pasta and pizza during my stay there as their food wasn’t good. Room looked like clean but last day we realized my husband having some rashes on his skin. We thought it’s like allergies or reactions to something. We we returned to Canada and my husband didn’t feel well, he had visit with his family doctor and he said it’s be bugs bites. I’m so freaking out b [... read more]ecause if just one of them was in our clothes or luggage will mess up our life. If it happens I will sue them. I do not recommend this resort at all.

The hotel is not truly a 5-star property. The main issue was the food—it was often not fresh, sometimes overly salty, and frequently served cold. It felt as though some of the meals had been prepared the day before. The bathroom and shower were also quite old and had a damp smell. The entertainment was okay, and the hotel itself was calm and quiet, which made it good for relaxation. The pool was definitely the best part of the stay. Great Vacation

Spent a fabulous week at the Royalton Chic, Punta Cana. Lovely resort with well kept grounds, modern clean rooms with a comfortable bed and amazing shower, and very friendly staff. The food was top notch, with abundant variety and flavour included at the buffet and and specialty restaurants. The coffee shop became a daily stop for us offering a variety of muffins, fruits, sandwiches and ice cream as well as tasty coffee all served by a very friendly and lively young lady. The large pool was refr [... read more]eshing and the Vibe team encouraged participation in many fun activities. We especially enjoyed the Aqua Fit and Aqua Cycling. The nightly shows were entertaining. Our only recommendation would be to post the daily activities and times in a central location for guests to see.

Resort is ok

The Jr. Suites are small, including the toilet area & shower, if you are a bigger person you will find the toilet room too small and challenging to enter/exit. If you upgrade to better rooms or even diamond club the experience is completely different (we had people in our group that were diamond club). The service at the restaurants is terrible, they were disorganized and it became quite frustrating. It was difficult to get glasses for water & then getting them refilled, when you asked staff for a drink they seemed to forget about your request. I didn't see a supervisor or manager on the floor to ensure proper flow of staff to manage client needs. The resort was not full which made the lack of service surprising. Unfortunately the service at the a la carte restaurants was not any better. Cleaning of the rooms daily didn't always occur which was odd, we had to address this multiple times, we had a large group and other people in different buildings experienced the same situation. Bar service was good & the drinks, the food was good. Service at the Cafe was the absolute best! Entertainment at night was fantastic. We won't return to this resort due to the service, it is surprising how much this negatively impacted our stay. There were people in our group that had been to this resort three times and will not return.

The worst resort I have been

This resort is maybe two star and only because of the staff the service desk, the waitress bartender, they did an excellent job The resort itself falling apart the rooms are not in a shape to stay in. The food is always cold. Never been heated right Think twice if you wanna go there

Excellent Food

I guess it’s real 5 star. Excellent food and service. All I can point out is responsibility on the part of the service staff. A few things as under:- 1. The used drink glasses/ tumblers kept lying on the poolside and in the centre where we see a tree. 2. Towels and plates left at the beach, not picked up and returned by guests by evening continued lying there. This limits availability of beach chairs for the next day morning.3. Pools not cleaned every day

Disappointed

Basic room, expected room to be more luxurious. Toilet flush was very loud. No bathrobe. TV did not work. Fan made a lot of noise. Cupboards and drawers for clothes did not close properly. On several occasions found that the patio door was unlocked when I know we left it locked every time we exited the room. Resort under construction ... not all restaurants were open. Not very pleasant. I have pictures of this pipe. The next day someone had cut it ... not removed it! Very few working umbrellas in the pool area. Loungers in the pool and beach area were old and worn, some broken. Ladies public toilet near the pool area has two stalls, one had no toilet seat. Tried to recharge my phone in the lobby area ... tried 4 different outlets before I found one that worked. Resort needs upgrades everywhere!

Royalton chic - disappointed

first room we checked into was old, fridge full of rust, room was run down. We asked a room change and got a newer, updated room. Next, the resort was not cleaned or maintained as it should be. Garbage floating in pool, staff not caring as much as they should overall. Food was OK. Our return flight was delayed so we got transferred to the Dreams CapCana for 2 nights and it was a beautiful resort- newer, very clean, big spacious rooms and huge buffet. I should of stayed here.

Great Resort

I was pleasantly surprised by our stay at this resort. The grounds were beautifully maintained and clean including the beach which was raked every morning with a tractor. The rooms were comfortable and clean.The service was amazing, from the cooks at the buffet to the servers in the restaurants to the bartenders and waitresses, all were pleasant, polite and truly made our stay fantastic. The food was also very good, a good selection at the buffet everyday from breakfast to supper. We ate at 4  [... read more]a la carte restaurants and all were great, with our favourite being the Italian followed by the Indian. The entertainment in the lobby every night was also good and our gang had fun dancing and watching the performances. If anything could be improved, I would suggest more beach chairs at the beach they were sometimes hard to find because people get up at the crack of dawn and reserve them with their towels. We were an older group of travellers whose ages were 50-late 60’s and everyone enjoyed themselves.

Resort needs alot of TLC

almost impossible to get reservations in the a la carte restaurants,,,not enough chairs on the beach,,, staff very friendly but everyone has their had out for a tip ,, trying to charge people that have already paid alot of money to travel there a surcharge to watch the superbowl in the hotel lobby (240 american) is robbery

Nice resort

Landscape and lobby were nice, gym was just what we needed, lots of classes and activities to keep people busy, beach was nice, buffet and restaurants were good, but the individual rooms were needing some big time love. You can't put a pink light under the bed and ignore paint on the floors, messy paint jobs, drain covers missing, hair on the floor, dirty walls, etc. Wouldn't take much to make it great without having to pay for a swim out or diamond club. Love it or Not!

The good: Resturant selection and food was great. Rooms were well laid out and kept spotless. Customer service is over the top and everyone is friendly. The Bad: Not enough chairs on the beach or around the pool for the number of guests and people come out very early to put a towel on chairs as a reservation. The music at the pool seems to be from a pre-recorded track with little variation from day to day, by day 3 you need to find somewhere else to go away from the noise. The Ugly; Upgrades, Time Shares, Vendors on the beach, everywhere you go someone seems to want to sell you something.
