Awesome Resort

Grounds: were beautiful Rooms: were nice, we had pool view on the preferred side. Beach: nicely kept. the downside is the seaweed, but that cant be helped Food: Very good! I like the no reservation required. We never waited more than 20 min to get in. If you want a/c while you eat, you need preferred This is by for one of the best resorts we've been to and would go back next year.

Very nice resort

Everything in resort was excellent except the buffet restaurant,lots of improvements to be made.Hotel staff were excellent especially our cobcierge Osvaldo and staff member Sharina.They reached out to us daily to make sure all's well with myself and wife.Beach was terrible.

It all about the beach !

No matter how great the hotel or food is the main part of taking a trip to a sunny destination where there is ocean is to Enjoy the beach . Sadly we did not experience this at dreams onyx hotel and spa . The excursion was ok but again the beach we attended was full of seaweed . Will not be going to the Dominican Republic ever again and will not recommend anyone. Else to go .

Good overall experience

Overall, this is a good resort and we had a pleasant experience. The food, location, pools, and facilities are all good. However, my main issue is the price. They charge a significant premium, around 20 to 30% more than many comparable resorts, but I honestly did not find the overall experience to be 20 to 30% better. The bread tasted like it was a couple of days old, and the coffee was very hit or miss. After that experience, I did not order room service again. 2. Pools: The pools are good, clean, and enjoyable, but they are similar to pools at many other resorts. I did not find anything particularly fancy or premium about them. 3. Water slides and activities: There are some extra slides and water features around the pools, which are nice to have. I tried them a couple of times and enjoyed them, but after that they did not really add much value to the overall experience for me. 4. Lazy river: The resort highlights the lazy river quite a bit, so I was expecting something special. It is okay, but compared to other lazy rivers I have experienced, this one felt more like a pool with very slowly moving water. It was nice to try, but definitely not something I would consider a major reason to choose this resort. The regular food was good, the location was good, and overall the resort was enjoyable. I am not saying this is a bad resort at all. My issue is simply the value for money. When a resort charges 20 to 30% more than comparable options, I expect something noticeably better or more premium. I just did not find that here. The overall experience felt very similar to other good resorts that cost considerably less. At a more competitive price, I would have a much more positive opinion of this resort. But at the current pricing, I personally do not think the extra cost is justified, and I would not return at this price.

Good 3 star resort

We recently stayed at the Dreams Onyx Resort and Spa for two weeks in mid-May, and unfortunately, the experience fell short of our expectations. On the positive side, the pools were cleaned daily, most of the staff were friendly (especially when tipped), the à la carte restaurants were well-maintained and clean, and the property offers an easy, accessible walk between the two resorts. However, there were several significant drawbacks. The lobby felt sterile, lacking any ambiance or music.  [... read more]The buffet food was consistently bland and repetitive. At the à la carte restaurants, we felt constantly rushed throughout our meals. While the pool surfaces were cleaned, the skimmers never functioned properly, leaving bugs and debris floating in the water all day. Furthermore, tipping felt mandatory for even the smallest service, such as receiving a bottle of water. The service regarding pool chairs was particularly frustrating. Butlers would reserve chairs for guests who never showed up; despite rules stating that staff should clear unattended towels, this was never enforced, even when other guests made direct requests. It was also disheartening to see that butlers could be easily bribed; other guests openly bragged about paying $200 to receive "preferred" treatment without actually booking a preferred room. We spoke with several other families from Europe who were there during our stay, and we all agreed that we would not return or recommend this resort.

Another AMAZING stay

Another amazing week at Dreams Onyx. This resort out stands the rest of them, they are so organized from the big details to the small ones. The staff and service are top notch. Preferred Manager Kaira and Jelissa in the lobby bar made a special inpact in my vacation. Make sure to see them on yours! Best restaurant is the French restaurant, the taco truck is also a must! Amazing, above and beyond!

Everything is amazing, including all the staff who are always willing to help. The buffet was also great with tons of options. The entertainment team Veronica, Sharina and others are superhumans! They work really hard to arrange activities throughout the day and I thoroughly enjoyed it! The Waterpark was a surprise for me so I made the most of it! One of my most luxurious vacations for sure

Unfortunately first and last visit

The hotel and grounds are beautiful. Well maintained and clean. The rooms in the 7000 block are modern and well kept and staff friendly, courteous and helpful. We were greeted warmly upon arrival with a smile and cold drink which helped to temper our disappointment that not only were we unable to be in adjoining rooms from our daughter and her family, neither were we even close to one another. In fact, we were across the jungle pool from each other. We made the best of it and got more than our s [... read more]teps in. The biggest disappointment the FOOD. Each person in our family was sick from some form of food item over the 7 days there. Our 3 year old granddaughter needing to see the doctor on site who was excellent. Thankfully she was feeling better before we had to fly home and the rest of us too. Been to DR 5 times and never been ill until here. We were amazed how quick the concierge and security came to the clinic when they found 3 of our family were ill. We loved the idea of no reservations at the restaurants and had no issues getting a table for 6 while we were all still okay, then we had to solely rely on buffet which we found underwhelming. Repetition of same foods each night. Found hygiene an issue with one set of tongs for several food items in one section of the buffet. The pools are lovely, clean fun. The best resort ever to find loungers by pool or shade at the beach. Beach is clean and palm trees make great shade to get out of the sun. Lots of entertainment for everyone. Great family atmosphere. Would I go back? Sadly no.

Beautiful, kid friendly resort. But not the best food

We spent 7 nights at the Dreams Onyx Resort. The layout and up keep of the property was beautiful. Most of the staff were pleasant and kind. Special attention to the amazing - Junior at the lobby, Dani at the beach and the housekeeping staff. Unfortunately at different times of our trip all of our family was severely sick, which really put a damper on the trip. Even so, we had to take our daughter to the clinic on site. Dr. Vanessa Del Rosario (with Clinic Assist) truly put us at ease and was [... read more] amazing with her. The resort came in to check on her too. But we worry it was the quality of food, since we all got six throughout the trip. I’ve been to many all inclusive resorts, several in Punta Cana. This one by far is the most beautiful- hotel room, layout, etc. But one of the lowest quality as far as food. We unfortunately didn’t get to experience all of the dinner options since we all got sick. We tried to play it safe with the buffet, but still was underwhelming. Lots of events each day for kids, which was great! Gift shop was cute, lots of supplies/meds too.

2nd time enter than the first!

We visited this resort in November and loved it so much went back in February. We were not in preferred club yet felt spoiled the moment we arrived! Every single staff person from maids to servers always had a smile and welcoming comment! We would give this resort a 10/10 from rooms to food to beach to pool to entertainment etc etc. can’t wait to return!

Dreams Onyx honest review

Dreams Onyx was everything we expected and more. The hotel suite was spacious, clean and modern. The grounds were well maintained and quite beautiful. the pools were large and not crowded. the Lazy River, water slides and pool was very nice and usually a bit in the shade in the afternoon. There was never an issue finding lounge chairs. The beach was very sandy and swimmable. There was sea grass but it was regularly removed so not usually an issue. The food at the restaurants and buffet was  [... read more]very good but not exceptional. There was a wide array of food selection at the buffet. The Coco Cafe had the best coffee. The entertainment was generally quite good. The bars had the normal drinks and we did not have the preferred package so don't know if they had a better selection of top shelf alcohol. Overall the staff were welcoming and wanting to please and we had no issues whatso ever. I would recommend this resort for families or adults.

Highly Recommend

Great resort, clean, well maintained, amazing friendly staff, good restaurants, zero complaints. No reservations at restaurant is great. Taco truck is awesome. Easy to get a pool chair. No towel cards is the way to go.

Good resort, loved the food

We enjoyed our stay at this resort. We went for 5 night with our 6 month old and overall were happy with the hospitality. The food was good and we have halal food which they took care of for all our meals. I have great things to say about their food concierge- Santo who made sure all our request regarding food were promptly attended. The housekeeping and dining staff is good but I dint really find the Front staff at reception very welcoming. The room they initially gave us had AC not working  [... read more]and broken sink and they took a long time changing our room. We were upgraded to a better room but it took them 3-4 hours to do this. Otherwise we liked our stay. Satisfied with the cleanliness level and safety standards. And again loved the food.

Wonderful family vacation

Travelled here with a group of 10 family members ages ranging from 12 to 71 years old over Christmas. Wonderful family resort. Safe, clean and beautiful! Staff was excellent. Preferred club was definitely worth it. Water park was a great bonus. Food was average for all inclusive but everyone always found something to eat. Shout out to our Butler Osvalda.

What a great places to relax ?

This hotel has everything anyone could ever want. Great pool side sever provided by Nelis and Ismael also Angle and Jean. They really took care of us. Our butler Nelson did a great job at taking cake of all our needs. Overall this resort is a definitely a return place.

Excellent Resort!

There is a reason why this resort gets a 5 Star Rating, the resort is amazing! Can’t say enough about the experience from beginning to end! Glad I choose this resort for my Dominican Republic vacation.

Beautiful walkable sandy beach!

We checked in late on Nov 24, our first experience with the resort was in the morning at orientation seminar. Our room was modern / larger than expected on the top floor. The grounds were very well kept and pools were impeccable and was easy to find loungers either on the beach or pool area. The beach was beautiful and very warm along with lots of palapas and loungers. We enjoyed the lazy river and water slides. Good variety of food at the buffet with gluten free and vegetarian options. The barefoot grill was a great place to pick up a burger and great fries along with a salad. We found no problem getting through any of the 6 A-la-Cartes, with the French and Steak House as our favorites. The Fire show was excellent and would highly recommend it. There were a number of weddings while we were there. It was great experience and plan on returning soon!!

Amazing resort

Everything you could imagine in a perfect vacation that’s exactly what it was beautiful resort amazing restaurants lots of things to do excursion where also amazing I would recommend this resort to couples and if you’re traveling with you’re family lots of things for kids to do this resort had everything for everyone

Fun Resort

Just came back from a week long stay at Dreams Onyx for a family wedding. The resort is the perfect backdrop for a beach wedding with it’s picturesque views. It’s family friendly for all ages to enjoy including a fun water park. We also spent time at the neighbour resort “Breathless” where it’s adult only. Both resorts had great food options and the staff were very accommodating to ensure our stay was perfect.
