Our best choice!
The view, the rooms, the food, the employees, the atmosphere, everything was perfect!
The only things that were less than ideal were the weather, the sargassum, not bringing slippers and small enough peso bills but these are all out the control of the resort.

Just ok...
Trying to find the positive in a mediocre week away at the Seaside Suites. Dated rooms and bathrooms however, housekeeping was consistent and attentive. Food was tasty but most items were cold or at the best warm. Booking a la carte can be challenging at any resort, particularly difficult here. Despite walking past restaurants 1/3 full after being told there are no tables. Feel perhaps this is a result of staffing - optics of empty tables were frustrating when we couldn't eat until 10 p.m. most [... read more]nights. Very understaffed so hard to get support when needed - Mildred the night manager was amazing and helpful. Lizbeth and Armando at the preferred pool were lovely and kind. Most uncomfortable chairs - beach, pool, restaurants, rooms, makes for a long week when you can't get comfortable anywhere. For the money and the star rating I would suggest this is not a 5 star but perhaps a solid 3.5 with some elements being a 4. Thankfully the weather was amazing which makes everything better.

Excellent value for money! Some improvement recommended.
Clean rooms and excellent service. Great private beach with no sargassum.
Best wifi coverage I have ever experienced Need to improve prepared foods at most restaurants. Suggest having free coconut days and providing an all

A Little tired
We travel 2 times yearly and have been plenty of times to the Mexico Mayan area and have stayed at alot of 4 and 5 star properties. We selected this property as AC had it on for a steal. This property in its time was great I'm sure. I would rate it a solid 3.5 stars.
Room - comfortable and clean - bed was very comfortable and air worked great.
Swim Out Balcony - water was very cold and the swim out goes in front of all rooms on that floor. Great place to spend time when it rained . Got very l[... read more]oud at 1:30am when our neighbors are either side of our room decided to party outside on their and our balcony. Security called and dealt with it in about 45minutes.
Food - very confusing / al a carts closed on a scheduled dark night. didn't have a problem booking 2 for the 7 day stay. - Italian is very good.
the buffet at dinner is subpar, and had a lot of shell fish and fish dishes. not much assortment. The lunch buffet at the outdoor grill was excellent
Beach - No beach at all on the Suites side and couldn't walk from Suites to the Palms by beach as the nudest resort separates them with fencing. This is not the place to go if you enjoy walking the beach.
Pool - not a lot of sun except on top of the restaurant on the landing - I had to clean the debris every morning though, as the rain would not drain due to the debris on the landing.
All in all - good but not great. alot better 4 stars out there in the area better than this apparent 4.5 to 5 star.
They could do with a major update and keep the place a little cleaner.

This is a beautiful well groomed romantic resort!
This resort is undergoing a change of management and lots of processess and procedures are relativly new to the staff, it will take some time for them to adjust or abolish some of the changes. If you are expecting a large lavish buffett its not there! A small buffett awaits you with only breakfast and dinner, lunch is offered at other restaurants and BBQ beach area, this gives you the opportunity to explore and experience the cuisine and lovely staff. Once a week the buffett is closed for dinner[... read more] and this when things can get hectic, be early for the amazing one of kind beach dinner! Night life is limited to a rather quiet somber tone as the resort is transforming into an exclusive spa/wedding venue. The pools are very clean and lots of places to bask in the sunshine. The beach is not the best for swimming and snorkel but hey nothing will stop you from taking dip in the pristine waters and clean sand. The bars are limited to a few international drinks but the very knowlegable bartenders will knock your socks with some tasty mezcalitos! Overall the resort has well groomed grounds, golfcart rides, great places for photograpy, scenic and very relaxing.

Beautiful Resort
Very clean and well maintained. Beautiful resort. We were not informed about the personal concierge, when we did find out the one assigned to us wasn’t there so we never met her, ended up learning and finding everything on our own with some difficulties in some areas of the resort. The upsell of packages (food, spa etc) was a bit much. Shuttle to airport over 2 hrs due to going off route to pick up people, making that resort location not favourable to travel too and from with that type of tra[... read more]vel/shuttle itinerary (understand that is more of the airline Sunwing issue).

Great time
Rooms were clean, pool off the balcony on the sea side suite side was chilly. Food was outstanding, staff went above and beyond for everything. Drinks were fantastic and entertainment was great. Beach however was terrible. Rocky, lots of seaweed(not resorts fault) sand bags to step over to get further in water. Administration very pushy with wanting you to join a “ membership†presentation. We had to be uncomfortably stern to say we were not interested at all. Long drive to the airport

Great Food! Beautiful view - swim out not ideal.
Great food and service within the restaurants/bar. Super friendly staff. We had some trouble with our hot water for 4 days before it was finally fixed. It was frustrating having to spend time trying to get someone to fix it each day but they were always so nice - it’s hard to complain. The ocean view Swim outs are beautiful BUT (floors 2 and up) don’t get much sun so we never ended up using it during the day…Which for me defeats the purpose. We had to go to main floor level and sunny spot[... read more]s are limited. Lots of shade and beautiful beds to lie on by pool and beach. Beach was nice on Palms side and they worked so hard to keep it clear of seaweed. Lots of sunshine spots there. We enjoyed the live music, “quiet†party night, karaoke, beach volleyball. The seaside suites pool was VERY loud in afternoon if you like party atmosphere. Overall a great trip with the gals - I just wouldn’t book Seaside Suites for the swim out. Palm side seemed to have some nice swim outs but some were also super shady. The rooms were clean - I gave rooms 4- star because of the water issue - sounded like a common problem for our particular corner room. If you enjoy pools and a swim out for the sun/convenience - I wouldn’t go to Seaside Suite side. Bar was restocked and great room service.

Better than expected
This is our second trip to El Dorado resorts by Karissa. Previous was with Royale. So our expectations were high. They were exceeded. We experienced some challenges which were from what challenges all resorts namely staffing. Our room was in some disrepair and lacked amenities like bathrobe etc. But these issues were expediently dealt with. Food was beyond superb though because of their capacity metering availability of reservations was hard. Got better as we were there. We got to go to all opti[... read more]ons. Spa was exquisite. Beach had a weed problem but they were cleaning daily for 10 hours a day and hauling seaweed away. By day 5 or 6 the seaweed was cleared and the water pristine . Best snorkeling. Many activities to choose from . We will go back

Wonderful New Year's Vacation
For New Year's Eve 2022, my wife and I took two of our adult daughters and our son-in-law to El Dorado Seaside Suites Infinity. It was our 3rd time at the resort and everyone else's first time. We had a fabulous vacation! Our daughters had two poolside swim up rooms (ground floor). We had a 3rd floor infinity "swim up".
Accessibility:
One daughter uses mobility devices to get around. We rented a GoChair from PlayaMobility (in Playa del Carmen), and brought her walker and canes. The resor[... read more]t isn't quite accessible by Canadian standards - there are "little" steps up and down all over the place. However, a ramp was placed in front of her room for the week, and most of the restaurants had a ramp to help with any steps. The staff and guests were willing to help ease the GoChair in/out on the handful of occasions that she required assistance. Ultimately, she was able to get in and out of the pool daily and visit the beach (with family assistance). And, to explore independently.
Meals:
El Dorado Seaside Suites is a gourmet inclusive resort. Every meal was delicious. The dinners being the most elaborate, elegant and unique in terms of culinary experience. It seemed like every meal was better than the previous - nightly we were proclaiming "best meal ever!" only for it to be outdone the next evening. Our favourite restaurants were the Culinarium (fusion), Carreta (Mexican), Mia Casa Dorado (Italian) and Klay Talay (Asian).
COVID Protocols:
ALL STAFF were masked at ALL TIMES. Our rooms were cleaned daily and were spotless. There is a nightly turn down service. Guests are asked to wear masks on the transportation (stretch golf carts) and in the common areas. Most guest complied, but not all (such are the times). In your room, on the beach / loungers / Bali beds, pool or swim up bar masks were off. Our concierge arrange for private COVID tests in our rooms ($100USD) 2 days prior to departure. It was professional, convenient, quick and we had the results (5x NEGATIVE) within about 12 hours. So, it's definitely possible for 5 fully vaccinated adults to vacation for a week and remain healthy. (As confirmed by random testing upon return to Canada.)
Rooms:
All the rooms were magnificent and accessible once inside. The bathrooms were spacious - jetted tub, separate shower, separate water closet. and double sinks. All of which are good for a marriage. Our only regret was not getting a poolside room like our daughters. The higher floor provided a more spectacular view and privacy. But, the Infinity "River" was COLD, while the main pool was relatively warm. But, in the end we prefer to swim instead of wade.
Other:
The El Dorado team "bent over backwards" to provide a great stay for our family. All servers were courteous, warm and professional. We'll be back.

Resort NOT for us
We found the resort beautifully maintained, staff were fantastic, food was good, COMMUNICATION totally lacking.
My husband and I are older and he needs help getting around, we found this resort to be more for people that like to party that is NOT US.
We like to relax and just veg on vacation and are used to much more service and help for transport. I would not recommend this resort for someone older.

Fantastic Resort
We moved from the Suites to the Palms, next door (same property). Was a great decision as the Palms is more private than the Suites. Fantastic services and accomodations. Special thanks to our Concierge J Romero, and butlers Ana and Arturo - they were AMAZING!!!! They made our stay perfect. Very disappointing beach front though - it was a rock wall for the most part because the beach goes straight into the ocean (and not in a nice way).

Excellent service!
The staff are so considerate to your needs. Cleaning constantly! We’ve been twice, once during Christmas break 2019 and recently Dec 23rd to 30th 2020. We stayed on the 4th floor ocean front swim up in the Infinity section and loved it! Gorgeous views. Highly recommend the deep tissue message and Hydrotherapy at the spa. Enjoy!

Service with a smile
My best friend and I stayed a week at the El Dorado Seaside Suites (Infinity Side) in an ocean view Pool suite.
The resort is fairly new and fairly well maintained, with modern, spacious and clean rooms.
Our room was a corner suite on the 4th floor in Building 6. We had a fairly large infinity pool with direct access from our balcony.
The first night, we had to call security 2x because there were 10-15 people standing outside of our room ‘scream talking’ at one another til well after[... read more] 2am. We asked them if they could move or please keep it down, but it didn’t stop. Due to the proximity to Kanaloa Bar - on the 4th floor, this happened again on our last night. Definitely don’t accept 6401 as your room if you like sleep!
The pools were freezing. Apparently they don’t heat the infinity pools or the main pool, so not many people were using them. We went in a couple times, and it was definitely neat to see it when you looked out- but ultimately, they were always in the shade and mostly too cold to use.
As I mentioned before, the room was large, modern and clean. They had nice robes and spa quality toiletries. The first day, there were plenty of towels- however, they seemed to dwindle as the week went on. I had mentioned to my concierge that I liked Coors Light over the other beers in the mini bar and I came in each day to find it stocked.
Something odd about the resort- housekeeping comes in once a day- at an approximate time that you tell your concierge. Later in the day, the bar/snack person comes in to fill your mini bar. Later, a towel person comes into the room... and lastly, someone came in 2 days to do turn down... but only 2 of 7. Due to all the different staff coming & going, it was really difficult to siesta!
Beach: There really isn’t one. Infinity has one spot you can wade in and that’s nice... The rest of the frontage is behind a wall and is a Reef. They’ve done their best and added sand and chairs along it and it’s still lovely... but if you’re looking for a beautiful beach, you won’t find it here.
Sensimar has a larger beach which is very busy. There are very few chairs because it is so busy. It’s also very far from Infinity- you can take a shuttle, but you’d better not forget anything or it’s kind of an ordeal...
Food:
There is only 1 restaurant on the Infinity side and it is only open for lunch. There’s a fantastic steakhouse/grill upstairs and a pretty underwhelming buffet downstairs (under the main pool, which is neat, but the selection was very poor and nearly no one was in there- ever). Other than that and the aforementioned Kanaloa Bar (which was the only ‘nightlife’). There is a Starbucks in the shop on the 1st floor- but it is extra $.
To eat, we had to go to the Sensimar side or the ‘Main Lobby Building’. It is not that far to Sensimar where there is
- The Gourmet Pub (excellent Calamari!)
- Culinarium Restaurant (try the cajun chicken- it is NOT what you’d expect, but IS amazing)
- Mia Casa (Italian- did not attend that location)
- Mexican You need a reservation (see your concierge)- Excellent food, fantastic drinks and amazing service- bring an appetite!
-Guacamayas Bar - A bar with swings & snacks. Nightly entertainment here and a super fantastic vibe. Everyone seems to flock here after 9pm, so seating was tricky... but there’s
dancing!
BeachBBQ was closed the whole week, so we didn’t get to eat there.
There is a quick serve restaurant The Sandwicherie & a buffet but we did not go to them.
Main building-
Seaside Market Buffet- Only breakfast option. Very small selection- the Egg station cool was excellent. Often things were left empty or running low... and not very hot.
Never attended a lunch buffet. One dinner buffet was very disappointing. Stuck to A La Cartes after that.
Asian Restaurant- Need a reservation, but it was fantastic! Delicious food. Thai, Japanese & sushi. The sushi was great. The pad thai and curry was also pretty fantastic. The service was impeccable.
Mia Casa- Italian. Super cute ‘Village in Italy’ streetscape style decor. Awesome food & fantastic service. Loved the addition of the dessert cart.
Each night there was some sort of live music and an Aperol Spritz branded bar at the Main Plaza at Sensimar which we really enjoyed as a chill after dinner drink before heading to Guacamayas or to the show.
Entertainment was lacking. We saw a Fire & Lights show - which was great & a Circus Show which was also pretty great... but that was it.
They had ‘entertainment’ at Kanaloa bar but it was Karaoke- no one sang.. and a band, that was decent, but literally took 7-10 mins between songs... and every song was a ballad - on Rock night... I went to bed.
The Naay Spa was lovely, but if you wanted to do the hydrotherapy or ‘water journey’ as they call it, you have to pay $27-35 USD unless you bargain for it included in your spa treatment. Unlike other luxury all inclusives I have been to which allow you unlimited access to it.
We were approached on the beach by a spa employee who wouldn’t really take no for an answer... I knew I wanted a massage, but the prices were quite high $200+ USD per person, I hadn’t quite decided. He kept offering different deals and we ended up with 2-4-1 plus water journey for free. By that time, why not! haha...
I had the Kukulkan Massage which was a combination of several techniques & very enjoyable.
Several times throughout the week, the same guy approached us. Even our last 2 hours at the resort, they were still trying to talk us into ‘one for the road’. That was a little much.
The staff are lovely and everyone is friendly. One of the guys at the Seaside Market even seems to remember everyones names - day after day. It is really the staff that makes the resort more appealing.
There were definitely pros... and a few cons about the resort. I would consider going again, but feel that at the price point, I’d probably go somewhere else. I just found many things to be lacking ‘something’.

Incredible Resort!
The resort was excellent!! Food was top notch, staff was friendly and catered to every need. The rooms, restaurants and grounds were very clean. Many different food options for every palate. I have been to this resort twice and would go back again!!
