Great family getaway!

The Bahia Principe Legend was a great getaway for our family of 5, with kids ranging from 11 to 4. Buffet had ample options, although could have been better quality/taste. Some of the à la carte restaurants were fantastic (e.g. Mediterranean and Italian), while some seemed like they were just repurposing the buffet food. The pools, waterpark were the highlights for us. Overall service was good, not great compared to some other (higher end) resorts I’ve been to but nothing to really complain about. The shows were enjoyable for the kids, although a bit repetitive. The Oneiro dinner & show was really fun, although we went through a long 3 course meal before it really kicked into the performance. Overall, would rate this an 8/10 and certainly a great option for families that don’t want to bust the bank.

Old Resort and not good service

The hotel is old, the rooms were disappointing, very old, moldie and not very clean. Especially for the price we paid. The service was poor, and staff were actually rude, like they didnt really care about the people. We witness several medical incidents where none of the staff intervened and the tourists had to provide assistance or support. The beach is nice but very crowded, the food was okay, nothing special. Not a five-star resort. Two at most

I usually don't do the reviews especially when my review is not going to be a positive one but I do feel a little inclined to share a few words and they're not all positive. On the good note the beach, the sunshine, and the water were amazing. On the negative note I feel that the hotel, by far, is not a five-star hotel so if anyone is looking at the five-star hotel, stay away. Just FYI we booked two rooms, one for us and one for our kids. Both rooms were the same, with two bathroom fixtures that were not just outdated but outright broken. Both rooms were very humid even with AC running and our kids' room smelled moldy. Sorry, three stars is a stretch. The other item that I was not at all impressed with and this is going to be a big one is the level of safety and care. Unfortunately we have witnessed a person die at the neighboring resort that is also being sold by air transit. This is where we bought our package and the staff of that resort did nothing to try and rescue the individual. Ironically the following day as I was going at 6:00 in the morning to book a chair, it was impossible to get a chair at the beach. The resort is overbooked and oversold. I saw a lady falling down and when trying to reach the staff of the hotel they cared very little. I literally had to shout at them asking to help an individual in need so I would be very very cautious about going to this chain of hotels. Just for the sake of if anything happens, you are not going to be taken care of by any form of medical system. Ironically I'm thinking that maybe I will put up a short video. I filmed a lot of footage while at the resort and after witnessing such a traumatic event with the person on the sand being resuscitated, his heart being pumped by visitors and the staff of the hotel standing on the side observing yet another gringo dying on the beach. I do feel inclined to share this with the world so I might just post a video on their YouTube on that as well

We would never book here again.

****PLEASE NOTE: We stayed at the Bahia Principe Grand Punta Cana, not the Fantasia as is listed here.**** This was my 3rd trip to Punta Cana in less than 2 years, and the 2 previous trips had been absolutely wonderful. This time was a completely different experience. I have been through breast cancer in the last year, and this was to be our "celebration of good health" trip. Our check in, which was well after midnight, took over an hour. The room was small, dated and uncomfortable. The beds wer [... read more]e hard as rocks. Our room flooded on the 3rd day while we were at the beach, with dark, brackish water. We came into our room to see 5 people with mops frantically trying to clear out the water, with our door wide open allowing free access to anyone going by. We went to the front desk to request a new room and were outright refused. I explained that I cannot risk infection due to potential health complications, but this was not considered and we were brought back to the room that had flooded. My partner and I then had severe food poisoning from the buffet, which was most unpleasant. We were sick flying back home and have not felt well since. What was supposed to be a relaxing, rejuvenating experience to celebrate health and healing was actually harmful to us both.

Amazing resort and Staff

The whole experience was great, the staff was very helpful and the resort grounds beautiful and the food is amazing. Exactly what you want out of a holiday in the sun and the beach. Would go back in a minute.

Worst experience ever

The service was absolutely the worst. I have never seen a place have worst food and service from staff. The food was always undercooked and had the worst taste. All family fell ill because of it, and we've never felt I'll on any of our other vacations. Worst still, the resort was so big - I was literally working on a to-do list to take carts from one place to another and rarely got a chance to sit and relax which is the purpose of a vacation. Never going back.

Tough start with check in.. took almost an hour, got bribed that I would get the best room but I already paid for premium? Overly crowded. Gotta wake up at 6am to reserve a pool chair. Few of us got sick

Amazing resort

Everything was just perfect. I would definetely recommend Bahia Principe Fantasia A Family oriented resort with a touch of Fantasy. Staff are Nice, Resort is top knotch and everybody is happy and caring.

Awesome Family Resort

Perfect resort for families with children of all ages. The staff, atmosphere, activities, food and cleanliness of the resort are outstanding! Our family enjoyed the pools, beach, water park and entertainment

Hotel Review

Hotel grounds is huge. Need trolley car to take you to other Hotels on its site, or to the Lobby. Main lobby buffet was the only one open at the time. The other was closed . Our bathroom definitely could use a fan inside of it, and the shower pressure was very low. On-site there were plenty of village shops, and a massage spa which we had a couples massage. It was good. Overall food was good. Yes would recommend it to families.

Bahia Principe Grand Punta Cana

I was very disappointed. We are definitely never going back. Air Transat representative was very unprofessional. Most of us guests were ignored as the representative prioritized booking tours to earn commission. It became necessary for me and other to interrupt and remind the representative of our primary reason for meeting him at 10am in the hotel theater— obtaining essential information regarding our bus departure time. Wow! it is a matter of time before an unfortunate incident happen. The room was very nice and staff very professional.

Beautiful Beaches

Stayed at Esmeralda and rooms were beautiful with swim up pools. Beach was fabulous and pools were amazing but had to get up early to get a chair. We were originally booked into punta cana grande but rooms had not been renovated and were pretty bad with broken tiles in bathroom and weird smell in rooms. Very dated and filled with mosquitoes! We paid for upgrade to Esmeralda and we loved it! Food was good and staff were excellent but remember they are on island time so be patient with them. Bahia Principe Grand Punta Cana - Feb 2025

This review is for Bahia Principe Grand Punta Cana. Good: wrist band has a micro-chip that opens door to room; animation team (fun dancing, Zumba on the beach, aquafit, pool games, evening shows); food is mediocre between buffets and restaurants - fresh made pizza dough is delicious; can make reservations on a self-serve screen in the lobby or with Guest Service, Rodizio Brazilian restaurant was delicious! Nice beach (white sand, turquoise ocean); nice grounds with efficient trolleys to get  [... read more]around the property; self-serve coffee machines and wine/beer taps; the Village beside the hotel is useful with disco, shops, 24hr medical clinic, and specialty shows - need to make reservations for the Dominican Fiesta ($16 US). Bad: over 1 hour to check-in (after 2am, with mosquitos); no loungers available at pool or beach - many chairs sit empty with towels on them; overcrowded buffets and slow lineups for food - staff couldn't keep up with cleaning tables, plates, cutlery, making for a chaotic experience; have to pay for a fresh pina colada $5-$10US, otherwise, the bar mixed pina coladas don't taste very good. To know: big complex requires lots of walking or using trolleys to get around; my renovated room 22206 was well located near the beach but about 10 mins walk to the lobby for breakfast; gym is dark without enough weights for the few people using it, the leg press machine was unusable, I didn't see any cleaning between use of equipment. Bring: sunscreen, rain jacket and small umbrella, mosquito/sand fleas repellent, wash cloth (towels, shampoo/conditioner/shower gel/soap provided, but not cloths). Flights: Air Transat had delays on departure and return. My itinerary said "multi-meals", which means food for purchase, but Transat lacked choices. I ended up with a small, dry breakfast sandwich for supper, very yucky, for $10 CAD. Since it was a night flight (5:20pm), by the time we arrived at the hotel, there was only one gentleman to check-in a bus load of vacationers which took longer than expected. Punta Cana was 1 hour ahead of Ottawa; due to the flight delay (over an hour), the time to retrieve luggage, and the wait on the bus before driving 30 mins to the hotel, we didn't get there until around 2:30am local time. This turned into a 4:30am bedtime by the time I got to the room and found a snack (since a proper dinner was not offered on the flight). Maybe it's ideal to take a morning flight.

Wonderful Resort

In deed the resort is so huge and beautiful. The service is considered very acceptable. The only discomfort in hotel is mosquito spreading everywhere. Very good atmosphere for families with children. It is affordable and organized.

Incredible getaway!

My daughter and I went on our first mother daughter trip and this resort totally blew us away! We enjoyed the daily poolside activities, the stunning room, incredible meals! We had the absolute best time and made so many memories here! Highly recommend this resort! My daughter can’t wait to go back

We had a great trip

Our room could have used some touchups. Safe was broken. The pools are huge and not crowded, we were always able to sit in decent spots. Bubble party was awesome. Great Waterpark. Buffet was very plentiful with lots of options, nothing spectacular though. The a la cart restaurant food we tried was great. Service is hit or miss everywhere. The beach, while beautiful, was packed, and you are bombarded every 2 minutes with people trying to sell you things. It was super annoying. It is always very wavy aswell. This was fun for us, but also to be noted if you have kids. The teens club was horrendous and shouldn't be advertised, as such the game room. Both are in the basement and EVERYTHING was broken and extremely humid and musty. The nightly entertainment was decent. The grounds are spectacular, constantly gardeners taking care of the place. The castle light show was great and the feeling of being somewhere special was there. We loved all the exterior buildings and layout of the resort. Overall we had a great trip.

Great Resort especially young children

Great rooms very clean friendly staff, always working to keep grounds tidy. Resort is beautiful the only thing I would say is it is more for very young children even the entrainment not too much for the adults coming with very young kids, but if you have kids strollers to about 6 great Vacation. The food is awesome everywhere from the restaurants, buffets, room service beach...Great Food.

Perfect resort for little kids

I would give this hotel a 4 out of 5 star. I’ve been to many all inclusive. The grounds were clean and beautiful. We also went for a walk at Bavaro and Grand Punta Cana, equally as beautiful. I didn’t like the fact that this is not really an ocean front, Luxury Esmeralda is right in front of it. You had to take the electric cars which came frequently but still would have preferred to be a “real beach front” Buffet was better on the weekend, same with the entertainment. Overall, we had a memorable vacation. Highly recommend for kids 5 and below.

Good but not great

The resort was good but not great. This was our second time at Bahia Principe Fantasia (visited in 2019 & 2024). The room was spacious but the bathroom needs renovations. The shower and tub are showing signs of aging. The grounds are well kept and the food is always good. All of the a la carts were very good. The service was inconsistent. Amazing time!

We had a fantastic trip. There was so much to do for the kids from the kids club, to the water parks, mini putting, arcade etc. the shows at night were amazing, and the food/drinks were great. There was always something to do. The staff are so friendly, very hard workers. The facilities are all clean and well taken care of. No complaints!
