The grounds of the resort are beautiful and the entertainment is top notch. For some reason is says I’m reviewing Hideaway but we were at the Punta Cana Diamond Club. Tried to get connecting rooms - no luck. Reserved rooms ahead of time - not honored. Our daughter has a shellfish allergy and it was a very difficult experience for her. We informed the resort of her life threatening allergies and on the second day we found a shrimp tail in the children’s pasta. We had a good response from the staf[... read more]f to help accommodate her need to use take out containers and eat in her room. On a few occasions we were stopped and questioned about using take out containers. The beach has beautiful sand but the water is not turquoise - it is kinda like swimming in an Ontario lake. The pools are super warm and both my kids got ear infections after a few days. Being ear drops because they are 35USD at the shop at the resort. The water park at Splash was a lot of fun.

Nice resort
We loved the resort and the pools and beach. No complaints there but unfortunately the food was not good. No salad in 2 weeks. I was sick on a few occasions which was not good as I spent this time in the room. We will not be back again. We complained to management and the did nothing. Many people were sick. Had trouble booking a la cartes as they were full trying to book online. I coul go on and on. This resort is not a 5 star. I’d give it a 2.

Great resort!
Hubby and myself: both Seniors, recently spent 2 wks here.
We booked thru Trip Central, Forest. Ont,; agent Karen G.
Our third floor corner room had 2 balconies with ocean view and pool views.
Our butler Laura was exceptional : helpful and prompt with our requests.
All staff: friendly and hardworking.
We enjoyed the following restaurants there:
Dorado, Zen, Jade, Hunter Steakhouse and Grazie Italian
Weather was stellar!
Thanks Karen for arranging this marvellous trip!

Overpriced and overrated
The good - clean, wonderful mattress and room, superb bar service, lovely beach. The happy greeting every morning from coffee lady in hideaway. Breakfast at Dorado The desserts
And the rest - - -
60 mins wait at airport for nobody missing. 60 minute drive in horrendous traffic. Nobody to show us to our building in the dark in spite of paying diamond club. Butler - supposedly our "man friday" was like a ghost at the end of the phone. But turned up when we were leaving - of course. Abominable [... read more]food at restaurants. Hostess at Mexicana shouted at us for not sitting in the corner as she wanted. Two disgusting, inedible meals at Dorado. Two others at Hunter but too dark to see food. Stick to the buffet - at least you can see what you are eating.
Final crowning glory - sick now since Friday morning and 4 hours in emergency last night
Advice if you really are set on going - go Hideaway and steer well away from Diamond and Restaurants.

Great/Bad
Just got back from this resort have stayed here three times in past years. First time great Dennis the best Butler you could have attentive. Second time it was due to Air Canada strike ruined plans to Europe we settled for what we knew. Stay was ok but food appeared on repeat service gone down and noted weekend was packed with as per staff “family and guests from the area” and the resort turned into massive party. The rooms clean never an issue with that. I slipped in water outside the coffee sh[... read more]op injured knee and thought it would be ok limped for the rest of the trip but still have injury to knee. This third time here a last minute trip as we canceled Italy due to flooding and protests we came back to what we knew again had heard the resort had renovations done and better now. Dennis going on leave home still arranged part of stay for us before he left. The food ok again but we got sick last day diarrhea and vomiting gonna say it was probably the salad we did eat that and I don’t normally as I advised by friends that salad washed in regular water but you can’t brush your teeth with it?? Been sick for three days now had to miss work and also fell outside the same coffee shop due to water again same knee in pain again. Reported the incident to Butler he said to go to guest relations but after reading reviews of guest’s that had been injured and the horrible ordeal they had reporting the incident I decided not to go through with it. I was not going to leave the resort pay for cab to hospital when they say not safe to leave resort. I mean marble floors everywhere!! They need a designated person mopping up water outside that shop or a rug. Somebody’s gonna get badly injured there. I seen several people slipping throughout the resort almost hitting the ground. I hope they take this review serious and do something about this risk. The beach wiped out apparently by rough seas just before we got there. I mean it happens they had a break wall in place ocean still beautiful. The amount of non guests walking up off beach and sitting in the diamond club beach area no bracelets getting free drinks and food maybe family and friends?? I noted one security guard on beach one day he walked by never seen any the rest of trip. The amount of merchants trying to sell you everything from massages to hair braids to jewelry and wooden carvings is crazy!! Then you go back to your room and get staff badgering you to book things?? It’s nuts!! I feel it’s not a vacation anymore. The shows usually posted somewhere now it’s word of mouth by staff. Used to have a show every night. That has turned into movie about americas best singers and a pirate movie. There was a heavy rainfall one night took out the front entrance of the Dorado restaurant that was the main restaurant for the hideaway guests where we were but they repaired it over 24 hours!! Impressive!! The pools including swim ups water levels very low below filtration levels. I would say some of the staff make your stay welcome and the sunsets amazing but for the price we paid and that was a last minute deal as we had originally booked to go to Europe again but unfortunately there was flooding and protests so we opted to what we knew again. I suggest if you go here take regular room not in Hyde away area don’t pay for diamond club as its not managed and the Hyde away pool small and packed with guests not managed by staff either. The pool water in all pools is like 38 degrees. I suggest get in the swim up pool to cool off that’s where we went. The room service menu has little food on it and used to be 24 hours at royalton but now until 11 pm..Pay as little as you can for this resort otherwise save your money go somewhere else.
We will not go back there,

Nice hotel with average service
Especially the girl working (pasta station in Gourmet restaurant : the lady who worked on 20 September for lunch time around 1:00 pm and the lady who worked at bar in the main lobby at 6:30 pm on 20 September 2025) were very unprofessional, hostile. They pretended that they don't not understand me even though i was trying speak to then in Spanish. if they did understand my Spanish i could have spoken in English . . she was not even smiling or pleasant (she has this attitude of : what do you wa[... read more]nt? . I even felt that i should not eat food from pasta station . I had an amazing time at the hotel, then this these people on the day i was leaving spoiled the hospitality. the girl at the bar was very nasty . she refused to serve me even though i was diamond club member. she treated me as though i was getting a drink free of charge. I can give you more details if you need. I spend 2700C$ for 4 days and this what i get.

Had an amazing time at this resort
Newly renovated rooms are very nicely designed, functional and super clean.
The grounds are very well maintained.
The restaurants serve a wide variety of tasty food and the bars are really fun. In the Hideaway area, we had a truly fantastic experience with our attendant who took amazing care of our group of friends.

Hideaway Royalton Diamond
Beautiful resort, great beach, steak house one of the best I’ve had, but that’s where it ends!!!
Service is the worst ever experienced anywhere!!! Rude and unwelcoming!!! Couldn’t believe it, and those with me felt the same!!
Even with tips in hand, if you can believe that!! Would not recommend this place to anyone!!
Really to bad, since such a beautiful resort. Butler service was a joke and waste of money!! Butler didn’t respond back once for almost 1-1/2 days, others with same butler servi[... read more]ce said the same!!!

Nice Hotel and grounds
Rooms were ok, did not refill room fridge, had to ask for water each day. room food service was ok at best. Getting a drink at most bars took way too long even though we tipped every time. Not enough bar tenders and they were not interested in serving people. Damn lazy in my opinion.

Beautiful beach and nice resort
The hotel itself was lovely. We did however pay for the "Diamond Club" option and wasn't overly impressed with it's services.
We were on the third floor with no elevator so lots of exercise going up and down which wasn't too bad but something to consider.
A room with the swim out option would be ideal if and when we visit next.
Our "room attendant" Victor was wonderful and did an excellent job each day of our stay at the resort, thank you Victor!
Even though with the Diamond Club we did have[... read more] trouble getting a beach/lounge chair on a few days. Unless you get up extra early and put your towel and book on a chair you may not get one :(
No complaints about the food, lots of options for everyone at the buffet and room service was great!
Yurico who provided beach service was wonderful, big shout out to him!
Don't forget to bring EXTRA sunscreen and snacks for your room as paying for these items at the hotel shops costs 4 times the price back home.
Don't wear any jewelry or sunglasses in the ocean, it can be rough and take those items from you quickly ;)
All and all a very nice stay and yes, we would return. We paid an AWFUL lot for the week of December 27th so maybe another time of the year when it is less costly. One more thing I will add is that the waterpark with fun slides for the kids is located across the street at the Royalton Splash. You can easily walk there, no need to take the tram, very fast and you can check out the iguanas and neat birds on the walk over. Thanks to Omar our butler for recommending that. The Punta Cana airport was a gong show departing. Might be worth an upgrade Elite or Club whatever it is to avoid standing in line for what felt like forever checking your bags. Then another line up and another one after that before you get to your gate. The departure experience at the airport really took away from the lovely holiday.

Lousy resort
I strongly wouldn’t recommend this resort, the staff was friendly, except for the maid staff and mini bar staff who were horrible
The entertainment was boring
It was very hard to reserve the restaurants so we basically had to eat at the buffet restaurant and thank goodness the food was good
So it wasn’t worth the money that we spent so on a scale of one to ten I give it a 2

Good Time
Overall the resort is good....we found that some staff seemed to be complacent and not really interested. The Hideaway pool staff were very good. Always attenuative. Food at the buffet was very good and plentiful. A la carts were good and there was rarely a line.
We have been to other Roylton resorts and will continue to use them again.

Hideaway - Royalton
The hotel grounds were ok
The rooms at Hideaway are an issue - patio doors are hard to open - bathroom area is ridiculously small not even enough room to put a toiletry bag down for one person let alone two
The wardrobes will cut your finger off if you open it to quickly
Some of the restaurants were closed due to renovations but I guess that has to happen at some point
The service was appalling in my opinion - we were hideaway and diamond club
Rarely did we get offered a drink and had to go[... read more] to the bar every time
We stayed diamond club a few years back at this resort and the servers came around constantly asking if you would like a drink or some food - it was excellent - it is NOT the case now
You have to go and get everything regardless of the level of vacation you have purchased
Many others were not diamond club in hideaway and there experience was exactly the same as ours but for less money
The butler did nothing - made a couple of reservations and to be honest he got those wrong on several occasions

Best Ever Trip to Punta Cana
Probably the best resort I have stayed in, and I have stayed in quite a few all-inclusives. The people were super friendly, whether at the bar, restaurants, or the buffet. The Jade restaurant, along with the Dorado were our favorites. The Teppenyaki Japanese was also excellent, and the buffet had a wide and varied choices that were delicious. But in the end, it's the people that are always smiling and going the extra distance to ensure you are enjoying your vacay. We mostly spent the time doing [... read more]R&R around the pool and beach. We did not take any excursions this time, as we've been to Punta Cana and "been there-done that". But this was the best ! Special thanks to a few of the many people we met : Juan & Greisy @ the pool bar, Jenniffer and Sylvia at the Hideaway reception, and Sugeidy at the Dorado restaurant. You all made our vacay the best ever. Thank you so much for everything ! Special mention to Fernanda the cat, who was always checking up to make sure we were happy and well. I highly recommend this resort for those looking for wonderful people, great food, and clean & comfortable resort. Impeccable.

Trip to the Sun
Overall the trip was good. Went for rest and relaxation. Did not go for the entertainment. Had an excellent week for weather. Food quality in some locations were excellent , some were only good. The only downfall was the music by the pool was too loud. Place was very clean overall.

Resort was okay not as good as last year
I found the manager and owner to be rude due to an incident that happened to me where a piece of the roof came within inches of hitting me in the head and the manager and owner didn’t care and wouldn’t compensate me for it like not giving me a gift certificate cause it caused me to have a major anxiety attack, the staff was wonderful and so was the food, the entertainment was not great

Lovely resort
The Hideaway was a beautiful resort. It is part of a larger family complex , so you will see children. We loved that it was a compact, very walkable resort, no need for golf carts to get anywhere. The beach is gorgeous and the Dorado Restaurant gives an ocean front view, fabulous ambience.
We had a swim up room right by the Hideaway pool and enjoyed swimming in our own semi-private area. The rooms are very nice and kept very clean. There is a Hideaway lounge that has snacks all day long and whe[... read more]re you can get a coffee or tea or alcoholic beverage.
We were very happy with the service there, from our butler Nelio. He was inobtrusive, but always checking to see if he could help with anything. He booked restaurants and spa visits for us.
Not so pleased with Sunwing, but that seems to be a common story these days.
