Riu Dunamar

This was an amazing family resort! From the beautiful well maintained and clean hotel, spacious rooms, to the Most friendliest staff, amazing bars and bartenders, delicious food, best ribeye steak, chefs KISS ?! Lots of pools, for adults, kids and family, fun activities and a gorgeous beachfront! I highly recommend this resort!

Great resort

I’ve been to many resorts in my time travelling and hands-down. This was one of the best from food to entertainment to just all-around great atmosphere. I recommend this resort to anybody especially with kids lots to do on the resort and I will definitely be back.

Family vacation 2026

The experience was terrific right from the very beginning. Good resort

Hotel,the grounds,washroom and hotel rooms all very clean. Can always find something to eat at the buffet at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Has dinner at all the restaurants. Least favorite would be the Steakhouse. Pool side grill okay. Found all staff very friendly and helpful. The is not a easy walk. Seaweed is a problem, not pleasant for swimming. No place to shop or even vendors on the beach. Only the hotel shop. Transportation to and from the airport was very poor. Vacation Review

We recently traveled with Sunwing and had a wonderful vacation overall. The resort itself was beautiful, well maintained, and clearly cared for. The maid service was excellent—rooms were consistently clean, and the lobby and common areas were spotless throughout our stay. The buffet servers and wait staff truly stood out. They were friendly, attentive, and provided great service everywhere—even on the beach. The food offered plenty of variety and was consistently enjoyable, to the point that w [... read more]e didn’t feel the need to book any à la carte restaurants. We also noticed how hard the maintenance team and gardeners worked daily to keep the property looking its best—it did not go unnoticed. Check-in and check-out were quick and efficient, and the airport transfer service was smooth and well organized. The beach was beautiful, even though we experienced red flag conditions most of the week. A special mention to the Nexus reps, who were very helpful and provided great recommendations throughout our stay. That said, one concern worth noting: during our stay, we had an unfortunate interaction with a front desk manager who was extremely rude and displayed what felt like intimidating and unprofessional behaviour. This left us feeling uneasy and somewhat unwelcome, which was disappointing given how positive the rest of our experience was. Overall, we truly enjoyed our vacation and would return, but we hope management addresses guest service consistency at the front desk level.

Great resort

Beautiful resort. Very clean. Staff was always super nice. The restaurants and buffet were great! Lots of room at the beach any time of day.. pools were a little busy during the second half of our stay, but that was a new wave of US spring breakers arriving. drinks were cold. bar tenders were superb. Rooms were fantastic. Balcony was great. We did find the hallways rather loud during the night once the spring breakers arrived, lots of yelling and banging on doors.. we would stay at  [... read more]this resort again without hesitation.

Everything was very nice we enjoined our self and I recommending to any body because it is a beautiful place and the service is good service and that that food was good to and the staff was very pleasant

Beautiful Resort

The resort was beautifully kept. Rooms were very clean. Food was okay. Would have liked at least one quiet pool. Very convenient location to Cancun airport. Drinks were great. Shows were lame! That’s it ?

Would Recommend

Quite a large amount of sea weed at the beach area. Rooms were a little outdated for a 5 star resort. This resort is almost an hour outside of Cancun. We were pleased with the food, service and entertainment options. The app was handy to gather info as needed. Just outside of our room they were working on an electrical panel of some sort and was very loud. We decided to go sit out by the pool where they were also working on the outside of the building, it was so loud we couldn’t hear the [... read more] music. Resort for all ages

Riu Dunabar , was a bit farther than I hoped from the airport just due to the other drop offs for the hotels but once we arrived, we were impressed.The Riu lived up to. It’s high expectations regarding cleanliness, food, beach, and proximity and entertainment. Premium spirits and premium wines were not offered. However, their extensive selection of cocktails were more than sufficient. Always plenty to do for all ages, excursions were a touch costly in my opinion. A very safe resort and a very good time in general. Service staff could’ve been a bit more friendly compared to other resorts, but I think trip Central for the recommendation.

Family had a blast! But it had its issues

Clean, friendly staff, buffet could use a step up. Espresso machines at the buffet broke down often. It took a long time for staff to replenish hot items that were in demand so it had long line ups. The great thing is the restaurants! No reservations needed way in advance. The beach is clean and great! They have fun pools and games. The kids club was fun! Lots of great things to do and fun entertainment!

Nice, small resort

If you’re coming to Mexico mainly for pool time and drinks, this place will suit you. But beyond the hotel itself, there’s really nowhere to walk or explore in the evenings. The beach has beautiful white sand and is very long, great for walking. Unfortunately, during our stay it was extremely windy with big waves, which made getting into the water — let alone swimming — quite difficult. There are no umbrellas on the beach, only tall palm trees, which can be an issue if you’re looking for prop [... read more]er shade. The main pool didn’t feel as large as it looks in the photos. It was quite crowded and full of kids most of the time. The room was fine — clean, with a balcony and a distant ocean view overlooking most of the hotel complex. Once the windows were closed, it was quiet enough at night. As for the restaurants, the main buffet was good, with a decent variety of food, fruits, juices, coffee, breads, cookies, and ice cream. There are about 4–5 à la carte restaurants and no reservation is required, which sounds convenient, but in practice it means waiting anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour for a table. The menus were the same throughout the week. What was supposed to be the “gourmet” restaurant ended up being the worst dining experience. Our flight home was very late, so we asked (and offered to pay) for a late checkout. Management showed no flexibility. In the evening we were told to come back in the morning to speak with the manager, who simply told us it wasn’t possible. It felt like the issue was just passed along rather than addressed. Checkout is strictly at 12:00. Overall, this was disappointing. I won’t be returning.

Good resort for our needs everything close pool area near, a la cartes and buffet close by great for elderly people food good ,entertainment good ,sport bar and lobby bar good service excellent cleanliness top notch .sport bar morning server pool bar server Michelle,Alex ,lobby bar Dany she was on speed dial awesome, also entertainment team Katy and others were great.

Amazing resort

The resort is kept extremely clean. Service with bars & restaurants very good & fast. No issues with our rooms. They were cleaned every day. Bar in room was stocked every day & we didn't have to ask. Food & entertainment was fantastic. Always something to do. They even decorated my bed on my birthday & left some birthday desserts & a Happy Birthday card. No complaints at all

Amazing resort overall

RIU Dunamar was a very good overall experience. The beach was beautiful and swimmable, and the service throughout the resort was friendly and attentive. The food had good variety and solid options, especially for an all-inclusive — we never felt limited or hungry. Rooms were basic but practical and kept very clean. A couple of days the minibar wasn’t refilled automatically, but when I requested it through the RIU app it was taken care of the same day. I also requested an extra chair for the ba [... read more]lcony and it was delivered quickly with no issues. Unfortunately, I did get sick during the stay, which impacted part of the trip, but overall the resort itself met expectations in terms of cleanliness, service, and value. I would still recommend RIU Dunamar, especially for travelers looking for a relaxed beach vacation with reliable service.

Amazing resort for vacarion

Resort was very clean and well maintained by the management.. we really enjoyed riuland activities for kids.. pool and bar service was excellent.. we really enjoyed our stay at RIU dunamar. My family enjoyed the stay in the resort. We would like to consider RIU oroperties for our next vacation..staff was very helpful and friendly..

Nice resort

The rooms are clean and are cleaned everyday. The buffets and restaurants are also clean. The waiters are friendly and often check up to see if you need anything else. The beach is nice and so are the 4 pools.

Clean resort

The hotel is very clean and safe feeling. It was small compared to the Moon Palace, but was great for walking from place to place. Lots of beach loungers and pool loungers available throughput the day. The seaweed is not that bad here. The activities for the teens were managed to allow for them to stay busy
