Catalonia Riviera Maya exceeded all our expectations

Our stay at this four-star Cancun resort exceeded all expectations with truly exceptional service and stunning oceanfront views. The staff went above and beyond to ensure every need was met with a warm smile. Amenities were top-tier, featuring pristine pools and a relaxing spa. Beautiful but a few inconveniences

The resort over all was beautiful but unfortunately there were a few downfalls. I book for my family of 6 (3 being children under 9) to stay in the privileged room, we were suppose to get 2 queen beds and a sofa bed. When we got to the hotel they said they did not have any privileged rooms available with 2 queen beds for the entire week. We were than asked if we wanted to go to their sister resort in cancun which we declined because we had other family members with in another room. Due to the in [... read more]convenience, they said they would bring us an extra mattress and also an extra cushion for the sofa bed in our room, but was not given any of these. Also we wanted to book hibachi but again they said they were not able to accommodate 6 people for the entire week we were there.

Amazing resort

I will start my review from the welcome and the receptionist in the restore was excellent The room very clean and comfortable also the room service excellent The pools was great and clean and the beach was good and we appreciate the workers how they clean it. But the pool hours open they closed very soon should be close a little bit late. At least keep one pool be close late. The restaurant are amazing specially the privilege restaurant but the 2 buffet decent. I extremely willing to play [... read more] mine gulf and tennis but unfortunately during the day is very hot and we disappointed is close at 5.00 pm so should be keep ad night open with lights and projectors! Also missing tennis table The support room was excellent The spa was a mazing but my our son very close to 16 years jut by one month for the spa and the gym age rule should be more flexible specially with the parents Another things bothering us the exclusive team very pushy and they call us few times in early morning few time I told them we're not interested but still they tried to explain to us !! But over all staff in resort are friendly and respectful you're a mazing resort

Exceeded our expectations!

Resort is smaller than most. Making it easy to navigate and not much walking distance between venues. It's also older than most but is in fantastic shape. The grounds are well cared for. Our room was a fully renovated, "Premium Deluxe". Pools are great. The Beach is not. Although posted reserving lounge chairs is not permitted, you have to be at either by 8am to reserve your lounge chair or you could be out of luck to find a spot with any shade. The resort has a 'no smoking' policy anywhere on the property which we also appreciated. We would return to this resort without hesitation.

Beautiful @

The Resort itself was breathtaking! Our room was perfect! Rm # 5024. Unfortunately there wasn't much of a beach area for walking, but the walk to the Marina and all it's attractions made up for it. First time at a resort where the food at the buffet was the same pretty much each day. Thankfully all was very tasty. Did notice however that it was more centered to family's than adult couples. Note: the Lobby Bar should really have more live entertainment as that's the only place to go afterwar [... read more]ds when everything is closed to mingle with people. Plus, bartenders at the lobby bar definitely have an attitude when it comes to the last half hour of closing. That was what we did not appreciate. Did not like the " lights out" feeling after 11:00pm. Not everyone wants to do the Disco.

Amazing resort!!

Loved our stay at the Catalonia Riviera Maya. March 2026. 2 adults and 2 older teens. The family suite worked out well. Spacious enough for the 4 of us. The room was very clean and the housekeeping service was great. We had the Privileged package which gave us access to a smaller separate pool, a dedicated beach chair area and a dedicated bar. We spent most of our time at the Privileged pool but did use other areas of the resort for activities (volleyball etc ). Finding chairs at the pool was [... read more] never an issue and the practice of reserving chairs with towels didn’t have much of an impact as it was clearly posted not to do so. The food options were great. The buffet had a nice variety, lots of fresh fruit and veggies and regional dishes. I loved that it wasn’t centered around North American style fried foods. The A La Carte restaurants that we ate at were some of the best all inclusive A La Carte meals that we have ever had. The drinks were top notch. All made to order in a blender, not from slush machines. Being in the gated community of Puerto Aventuras made this better than the average all inclusive because we could leave the resort to walk around town and always felt safe doing so. The ability to walk 10 minutes and play a round of golf was a bonus. We rented a golf cart to explore the town which was fun. I would recommend this as a family friendly place. Not big on night life but that suited us. The shows were phenomenal. Very well done. Not too cheesy. Some very talented people in them. We would return to this resort and highly recommended it.

Fantastic vacation

Catalonia Riviera Maya was a wonderful spot for a vacation. The grounds were beautiful and well kept. The food in the buffet and a la cartes was great with lots of choices and was fresh and well prepared. The best feature of the resort is the compact size, everything is within easy walking distance. And the staff were friendly and attentive, any minor issues were addressed right away. Overall, a fantastic vacation spot!

Very nice and friendly

Great resort.Nice location.i enjoyed our stay food was very good. You can do lots of walking. Walking to the store. Saw dolphins swimming and playing with the ball. Very secure place.High quality public transportation comfortable and safe.

Great resort

Great food, lots of variety, room was spacious with comfortable bed. Staff is very friendly and always available. Good entertainment with professional staff. This was our second time at the hotel, everything was great except the beach, which is what keeps us from coming back more often.

Catalonia Riviera Maya has an amazing atmosphere, food, entertainment, staff

The resort has excellent food, both in the buffet and restaurants, especially the Japanese restaurant. Staff are hard working and attentive to requests. The evening entertainment was excellent, the performers are detail orientated in their performances and facial expressions are superb, the performances start on time, the audience loves to participate, costumes are great, can't say enough about the team. The rooms are clean, updated. The pools are smaller (not meant for doing lap/lengt [... read more]h workouts) but good for aquatics. The beach is small, good idea to bring water rubber shoes if you like to be in the sea; the weeds were cleared up within days despite the severe influx of weeds.

Very nice clean resort

The resort was really nice. Not too big which we liked. Staff were constantly cleaning the pool area, grounds all the time. The beach wasn’t the greatest, small and lots of seaweed when we were there in end of Feb to beginning of March. Buffet food and À la carts were really good. Lots of food options and drink options. I would highly recommend this resort. Only thing I didn’t like was most the stores on resort required a credit card and didn’t take cash. Great hotel

Beautifully kept grounds. Clean. Well staffed with the hardest working and friendliest people we've ever met. Plenty of food with good variety. Steak house was recommended as an a la carte but disappointing. Not edible to and of our 6 people table. Other a la carte recommendations were amazing. There was construction going on right on the property line that made it difficult to enjoy the privileged area due to noise and diesel odor. Not the hotels blame but did affect us.

Everything about this resort was great. The room was perfect and the grounds are beautiful. Staff was pleasant and efficient. The food wasn’t the best. I would go back again. The fact that this was all part of a gated community made it feel very safe

Wouldn't go back

There are better options. They weren't accommodating and options weren't great. You have to do reservations for dinner and it was always booked. Would never go back. I've been at many other resorts and the food option and service has been much better

Wonderful Resort

We had a wonderful holiday here. The food was very good and plentiful the resort is spotless, they are very attentive to the guests, we enjoyed all the night shows and pool entertainment crew are amazing. Beach area is rocky to get in but noticed many people in snorkleing and swimming.Our room was so comfortable,Stayed on Riviera side . Great time Catalina .

The staff are excellent, very beautiful and clean resort Small resort with lack of pool entertainment and music as well as nightlife Not being able to get in a la carte restaurants Eating buffet all week got old Variety of beer would be nice as they only had modelo Overall our week was great weather and service was excellent

Excellent resort for relaxing

This was my second time at a Catalonia chain resort and this one didn't disappoint. The service provided by everyone (and I mean everyone) was impeccable. The resort grounds were very clean and there was a variety of activities at the main pool all day (make sure to be up early to save your chair or you will lose out!!). The buffet was good with lots of variety. The a-la-cartes were very easy to book (despite previous reviews) and most you could book a couple days in advance, except the tepp [... read more]anyaki. I recommend upgrading to the Privilege Premium Deluxe room. It was a very modern, clean room with all the bells and whistles. We were in room 418, so if you face the back like we did, it can be a bit noisy as it's a route for the service trucks. You also get to go to the B-Loved restaurant (and that was delicious) and have the use of Pure chill out bar, which is a mere 10 steps from the edge of the pool. Burgers restaurant is also a must try, as is the juice bar, Maloo!! Wi-Fi was very good throughout the hotel. If you are looking for a beach, this resort is not for you – there is a very small beach for Privilege guests that isn't rocky (the other side is very rocky) and the larger beach area is at the sister resort next door. It's very safe as it's in a gated community and we walked 10 minutes down the road to the marina to check out the shops and cafes/restaurant. Or you can rent a golf cart from Paul who is out front of the hotel daily. There is a golf course close by, but seriously overpriced. Check out Nauti Burro and Munchys down by the marina – both make an amazing margaritas.

Nice resort but would not return

The resort is small, pretty, clean and friendly. Shows and entertainment were good We got the privileged package but nothing other than different colour beach towels differed from the regular package. We had a renovated room but not in the privileged section, not two beds we requested ahead, no a la carte reservations ,except the included Bloved which was just ok. The reservation system is a bad joke, we tried every day before 8am and were not able to book one. There is not enough chairs around [... read more] pool and beach. The lobby bar and sitting space way too small for the amount of guest, not possible to find a seat! The buffet was ok, great selection of fruits, very few deli or cheese options. Never seen smoked meats or fish/sushi. No themed dinners, food very repetitive and not warm enough. Compared to food options we had at other Mexican resorts we went to , there are very limited choices. Also couldn't get a late check out (our flight was very late at night) as promised by one of privileged extras.

Nice resort

The resort had awesome bars and restaurants, although I found the restaurants hard to book. The buffet rooms had a great assortment of good food. The layout of the resort made it extremely easy to navigate. Our room was good, but if the bath tub on the deck was made into a hot tub, that would put it over the top. I have been to better beaches, but while snorkelling I did see a lot of marine life in the water. Overall, it was a great experience and I would return for another week some day.
