Amazing resort

This resort is well situated and well managed ? we spent a week when USA was strangling cubs and yet no power outages and no shortages ?tgss as no you cubss as thank you Muthu thaa as no uiy sir Canada vacations ?

Not for family

This was my third time visiting Cuba, but unfortunately, it was a very bad experience. The pool was extremely dirty and never cleaned. Compared to my trip three years ago (at a different location), this was very disappointing. The room was in poor condition, towels were never changed, and the staff were very rude and unhelpful, often giving attitude instead of offering assistance. While the food was really good, the customer service overall was terrible. Also, be very careful with your belonging [... read more]s if you forget something, don’t expect the staff to return it. I will not be going back. However, there was one person who came and asked if we needed anything she was very helpful. Her name is Milena

It was good

This hotel was good, but not amazing. The pools were really nice, food was actually pretty good, but just very limited options at the buffet. Snack bar had the best food on the entire resort. Entertainment puts on good shows, however the resort was dead, so kinda hard to keep the vibes up when nobody is around. Beach was beautiful. Definitely worth taking the $5 cab to Playa Pillar for the day. Now for the things I didn’t love. All the bathrooms around the resort ran out of toilet paper daily, [... read more] so bring some with you daily. Even the airport didn’t have any toilet paper. Drinks at the bar were limited, no menu and staff didn’t speak much English so it was hard to explain drinks to them. Rooms were not the cleanest, my comforter was covered in stains that were unsettling, and I asked for it to be changed and it didn’t. The one store on the resort was barely open, and didn’t sell much, so overpack the essentials, especially some snacks if you get peckish at night. Very difficult to communicate with staff, as most of them didn’t speak much English. No night life, the disco is only open one night a week, and the resort is a ghost town at night time. The Cuban peso is also obsolete, so bring American dollars or loonies and toonies for tips. Overall, I wouldn’t say this was a bad resort, it had its flaws but it was still nice and enjoyable especially for the price.

It was a very good hotel

Room was very good, very clean and spacious. View was great. Food was ok. There was no bread for the better part of 5 days and never was there bacon. The entertainment we did not find very good. They were very new to the business i found. It is a very quiet resort. Beach is not the best but ok. The workers were very good and helpful when needed.

Great Time

Great time at the Gran Muthu Imperial. The maids are great the room was always clean, we had a beautiful view. There was practically no wait at any of the bars to get a drink, Bar tenders, wait staff and all staff in General were very nice. The Animation team was great, always trying to get people involved they were a lot of fun. I was not impressed with the International restaurant, we got better beef at the buffet. The pools were great, the beach was good but not as nice as Varadero or Cayo Santa Maria, there was a lot of rock, you had to go quite a ways down to get to all sand in water, but still beautiful. There was always plenty of lounges. Overall for the resort itself I would recommend.

Best hotel ever!!

I was at the gran muthu imperial Cayo Guillermo for 2 months - January and February 2025 and am so impressed with this hotel - and really disappointed when I see bad reviews. Being there for so long I was able to see how hard this hotel worked to compensate for things outside of their control - food shortages for example. There were times that there were no potatoes but they subbed with banana chips - or bacon but subbed with sausage. Once there was a pork shortage but they upped the seafood [... read more] selection. Cuba is a beautiful country with beautiful people and beaches - the hotel was super clean and the staff friendly and helpful. The pools were beautiful but cold!! (Still swimmable). Understandable as this time of year is their winter as well - however toward the end of February, the pools were a lot warmer. The tourists, often, were disrespectful, condescending and rude - but this was never reciprocated by the staff - I will definitely be back for another 2 months next year. Definitely worth the money.

Recommend!

The resort was very well kept and the people were very nice. The rooms itself were older and there were flaws, such as broken knobs, but nothing to discourage your stay. Whatever you do - make sure you take the $5 cab ride to the beach - it will blow you away. The food was okay really, and not bad at all. You will not go hungry. Recommend bringing hot sauce and salt/spices if you can't do bland food but there was an omelette, pasta and pizza stations and a meat and seafood grill. Never again

First (and last) time staying st the Gran Muthu imperial in Cuba last week. Hotel is run down, checked into a room that stank like mold, took some convincing but eventually got another room. Housekeeping didn’t change the sheets the entire week, same with towels and pool towels. Food was sparse and very repetitive (I understand it’s Cuba and bad food is to be expected). Pools were dirty

Great resort

I took my family there for the first time and we had a great time. Beach was wonderful and the staff were always ready to assist us. We had great service and had enough food that we did not starve. We may not go back as we like an adults only resort.

Nice beaches.. plenty of sun but..

Just came back firm this resort… as you know there are plenty of food supply problems on the Island so if you expect bread, eggs, all kinds of booze or nice colourful Paris like dessert everyday, it’s simply not going to be here. Staff work 16 hrs a day so imagine how you would feel at the end of your shift.. soo if you expect smily faces.. there are some but not that many.. they try and it’s hard. There are obvious management problems like the cigar bar with a locked cabinet with no keys so you [... read more] cannot get your cigar at 9:30 pm, hard to get towels at times. If you think tips in dollars are going to change anything, it’s not.. they cannot buy anything with it because there is nothing to buy. Give them things, some that you would not think about like a soccer ball and pump got such an amazing reaction from a mother we gave it to (the pump can also work on bikes)… bike kit repair, gum, tshirt and ball cap, powdered milk, kraft dinner…at the end of the day, talk to them, learn from them and enjoy the sun and the beaches.. don’t forget to visit “the lobster shack” located on the beach passed the adjacent Muthu resort (cab cost us $5 each way per pers and the meal was $30 for langoustine (big), shrimp, fish, rice and half decent bottle of white wine (per pers).

Mixed feelings

Unfortunately the hotel has deteriorated somewhat. The absence of basics such as eggs and bread on numerous days was aggravating. The Cuban people are more desperate now and mercenary at times. This of course is overcome by the stunning geography and natural warmth of its people. Canadians could learn from them. Overall disappointing in some areas but still an incredible piece of the world.

NEVER AGAIN!!!

You don't go to Cuba for the food but this was ridiculous. No coffee for 4 days, no potatoes, only 1 fresh fruit, ran out of eggs, no spoons on the table..you had to find someone to get you one. Only pudding and Ice cream for desert. The ala carte restaurants served exactly the same food as the buffet. Storage of room towels and half the time the toilets would not flush. Also the worst beach we've seen in the Caribbean. Not groomed...rotting seaweed and so many stones and broken shells that  [... read more]you couldn't walk barefoot on the sand. Totally disappointing

First of all it is not an adults only resort. Secondly we got there at 11:00 am and did not get our room till 5:00 pm. They would not give us Wifi access while we were waiting. Thirdly, no pop,no eggs except the last days, and we had to stand in line to get some, not enough for everybody. They ran out of bread, coffee,wine, beerand hardly had meat for meals. Also the A la carte, were misleading as there is no Chinese and no seafood at the Mediterranean. This is a low 3 stars, and I would not recommend it to anyone. 1 positive the staff did what they could but had nothing to work with. I believe the website should be updated and reflect reality. Relaxing Resort

Grand Muthu Imperial Now that we have returned from our recent holiday at the Grand Muthu Imperial from the 31 Jan – 7 Feb 2024, I want to express our gratitude for the hospitality and professionalism of all the staff at this amazing resort. Pino, Higteandro, Maceo and Yanet from Lobby bar, they are great bartenders that made our late nights a party atmosphere. You could always count on the snack bar to provide that late night snack

Grand muthu imperial

Very bad services ,no water running in the toilets, no toilet paper, 1 tower for the 7 days stay.food no good and customer service is very poor .I’m very disappointed with this trip,we went in the group, the agent booked us the flight together but put 3 of us different Hotels that is the biggest mistake

Terrible resort

This was by far the worst trip I’ve taken the staff were not very nice especially the management. They were too busy walking around drinking to care about guests and there were a lot of complaints. The housekeeper rehung dirty towels put dirty blood stained sheets and pillow cases on our bed. I went to ask for toilet paper and the guest service agent refused me even though there was a maintenance man there to get some she said it was impossible I was actually begging her to help me to get a roll [... read more] and she kept saying it was impossible. I said well doesn’t he go into rooms to fix things and she said yes but he’s not allowed to remove toilet paper.Disguisting service!!!Our room had a lot of bugs I took pictures and asked to be moved they said they were full.The hotel had maybe 50 guests at most I think the hotel can hold about 1000 so it was not busy. The pool was not cleaned even once during our 10 day trip there was debris all over the bottom of pool just lazy there were plenty of staff but most weren’t doing anything.The flies in the dining were gross there were hundreds maid it hard to eat the lady making eggs had dead fly’s in the liquid egg and continued to add them to the egg. Didn’t seem like anyone cared.You couldn’t get a mojito and we were in Cuba. There were a couple really nice staff and our Transat lady Lia was very nice but overall bad experience.I was very aware of shortages in Cuba we were prepared but no excuse for the staff and management very disappointed.The beach was beautiful!

Good resort with a few issues

Flies at the buffet were thick and inescapable Painting and maintenance required on railings etc. toilets throughout the complex always in disrepair. Soap dispensers often empty Front desk personnel depending on who was on duty struggled in English and could not arrange for support staff to address issues. Beach towel exchange like trying to win the lottery This is not a five star facility

Poor entertainment, understaffed

I didn't mind the kids and daycare at GM Imperial even though it's marketed as adult only. Some food shortages but good staff. The entertainment was terrible. No real music (although there was a grand piano in the lobby). The sound system in the "theatre" was crappy AND the bright LED lights lining the stage made it hard to even look at. Get a piano player or a guitar player for pete's sake.
