Lovely resort

Just back a few days ago from a ten day stay at Sanctuary White Sands in Cayo Coco Cuba.The resort was very clean and well maintained. Pool area was very large with a large abundance of chairs as was the beach area. If you were having trouble finding a lounger the staff were readily available to get one for you. Beaches were very beautiful but the time we were there it was windy and a bit cooler than normal but you can't control the weather. Still had a lot of time by the water. The rooms were k [... read more]ept very clean,had lots of hot water for showers and were kept up with essentials. Staff were very friendly and always willing to help you with whatever you may need. Food at buffet was fair but there was always a variety of choices. The alacarte meals were very good but try get reservations early enough to get a place. Was my first visit to Cuba and had a wonderful time. I hope that soon things will work out for the people there and we will be able to visit again in the future.

Nice resort

The resort was nice. Food was good but repetitive and service was less then satisfactory compared to previous trip to other areas of Cuba! Pool and beach were nice but weather wasn't great. Windy and cool but sunny

Nice Resort

The resort was nice but for only being open not even 2 years, it was looking tired. The room was comfortable and clean but there was mold in a few places that should not be there already. Example on the bed skirt and around the vent in the ceiling. The public bathrooms need to be better tended to as there was always an odour. Toilet paper holders were broken in a lot of the stalls. Amazing resort

The resort was awesome. Workers where very friendly. Beach was great of course, always loungers to sit. Food was plentiful. Didn't leave hungry. Rooms very clean. Rooms cleaned daily. Grounds were very well kept up.

My Dream Vacation and so much more

I stayed at Sanctuary White Sands from January 22nd to 29th 2026 in a deluxe ocean-view junior suite. The accommodations were excellent, and I, originally from Winnipeg, Canada, was highly satisfied with the room amenities and staff service. Their professionalism, attention to detail, and courteous, unobtrusive attitude made for an excellent experience. To receive similar service, being courteous, patient, and respectful is advisable. The cuisine was generally enjoyable, though different from my usual preferences. The picturesque beach, ocean, boardwalk, pools, and lounging areas added to the experience. The front desk and lobby were well-maintained, with issues resolved quickly. Pretty good!

Beautiful room, shower, balcony, and grounds. A toilet quirk to learn. Food was not amazing, except the fresh baked goods. I liked the pool and beach. Excursions were my highlights! Staff was very gracious except at bars.

Very good

Overall the resort was great. Food became repetitive. The La Creole restaurant had great food. Hats off to the chef! If you like seafood they have plenty. Beautiful big pools with walk-in available at the one pool. Chairs at beach are better than those at the pool.

Wonderful resort!

I love that every room had its own patio or balcony. The rooms were spacious and had all basic amenities such as fridge, iron, blow dryer. Large shower. The grounds were marvelous! Planting was going on daily. Large pool areas and short walk to the beach. Lots of both shade and sun at the beach. The entertainment staff were terrific, as were everyone. There were enough English speaking staff to manage questions and requests. Buffets had a good variety of food. Not spicy, at all.

Go!

Sanctuary White Sands, was good! We had a Little problem with our room, but our butler Dailin was on it and made things great. People complain about the food, but my experience was super. Lots of variety, great attention and good quality. Cubain food is NOT spicy. If you want spicy bring a few items. Like tajin, hot sauce. But you certainly can’t say the food was bad or lacking. Because it was the opposite!

We had a great time!

Overall the resort was great! Staff was great, pool was awesome, beach was beautiful, room was clean. We had a great time joking around with the staff, playing volleyball at the beach, doing the activities. They went all out for New Years Eve and it was incredible. We did have a few days where the water in the room wasn't the warmest, but outside of that, we had an amazing trip.

Would recommend

Overall a great holiday. We recently returned from the SWS, and was pleasantly surprised when he arrived. The overall condition of the hotel was very good. We were in block 6, and a great view of the pool and partial view of the ocean. The room is modern, everything worked as it should. The room included a safe, hair dryer, charge receptacle, etc. Beds were comfortable and bedding was adequate. We requested a coffee make which was provided. As people note you will not starve. They do a great job working with what they have to provide. Beach was great though there were days when the seaweed was present. There was generally a breeze so when outside there was few bugs.

Resort has lot of problems

Rooms has problems with air conditioning, rooms has molds was in the ceilings and corners. For the bath towels they’re have big shortages. You have to call management many times asking for bath towels. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone else management staffs don’t wanna fix the issue not worth to go there at all. Food is very poor.

The best hotel I been to in cuba

I Don't usually write reviews, but for this one I had to I went from Dec 2 to the 9th and I kid you not the best hotel I've visited. I've been to Cuba many many times and honestly the last time I went I said that it would be my last time....but I broke my word and booked this place last minute as a birthday Trip. I have to give a special shout out to King in the animation team he made sure my birthday was extra special from the day to night and was always lively and just fun??!. Aime is the go to girl for all your needs she's super sweet and will give you the details on where to go and what to do, plus shes got some dance moves and a beautiful voice(go to karaoke its fun!?)?. Ulises was always checking in making sure my mom and I were good✨️, and Jaun Gabriel just had the sweetest kindest energy?. I know we go on vacation to experience the beautiful weather/scenery and just relax, and yes most resorts this is possible. BUT it really does make all the difference when the people who work there make you feel welcomed and taken care of like it's a second home. If you've never been to Cuba I suggest this place and if you have, but are on the fence DO IT! ...Safe travels for when you do! First time to sanctuary white sands, last time

I’ve been to Cuba about 16 times now. This was was my first time to sanctuary white sands, however I will never be a repeat guest. The good, rooms were clean, pool was clear, beach was beautiful. However I do believe, and experienced all the staff is not honest, I’ve never experienced theft in Cuba before, I’m in utter shock, and would never go back because of this.

First time to sanctuary white sands, last time

I’ve been to Cuba about 16 times now. This was was my first time to sanctuary white sands, however I will never be a repeat guest. The good, rooms were clean, pool was clear, beach was beautiful. Amazing resort! Get the premium service

Newer resort. Excellent experience. Beautiful beach! Very nice, big rooms, very nice restaurants. The food was very good in sufficient quantity. Friendly staff Daylin, Yanelis, Deimis gave an excellent service, their smiles are contagious. They are hardworking and love what they do. My husband and I stayed from Oct.11 to Oct.25, we have celebrated our 40th anniversary. Special mention to Daylin for her excellent service. Was really disappointed

This rated as a 4.5* hotel. I’m fully aware that standards in Cuba are not the same but this was definitely more a 2*. I’ve been to Cuba many times and I know that we don’t go to Cuba for the food, BUT, peas shouldn’t be served for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Adding mushrooms or pickles to the bowl of peas doesn’t make it any better. It was literally the same food everyday at every meal with no fresh vegetables at all. There was no service except for the main lobby or the lunch buffet area, no service at the beach, pool area or room service. The only reason that it bothered me was because one evening I wasn’t feeling the greatest and just wanted to stay in my room, only one buffet area was available and it’s not allowed to take food out. Sheets in the room were dirty, housekeeping was slow and they have a coffee maker in the room but don’t provide the coffee! (You need to bring it from home) I’m honestly not one to complain but this was a tough one to make the most of it. My positive is definitely the lobby bar staff and the concierge’s did work hard to try and make everyone happy.

Meh! It was ok….

⭐️⭐️⭐️☆☆ (3/5) We just returned from White Sanctuary Sands in Cayo Cruz. Overall, the trip was fair but underwhelming compared to our visit a year ago. The rooms were clean but a bit musty — thankfully my diffuser helped. We had ongoing issues with our room key needing to be reprogrammed daily (sometimes twice!), which was frustrating. The safe was broken on arrival but fixed promptly, though our repeated requests to replace burnt-out lights were never addressed. The butler service was at [... read more]tentive when used, and the pools and beach were both lovely. However, the biggest disappointment was the food. The buffet quality has noticeably declined — limited variety, repetitive dishes, and mostly pork, rice, and canned vegetables. No chicken, no pasta, fries, or burgers all week, though there was plenty of pizza and ham-and-cheese sandwiches. The à la carte restaurants were just okay. We don’t visit Cuba for the food and understand limitations, but the drop in quality from last year was hard to ignore. Overall, it was an average experience — fine for a relaxing week, but we’ll likely choose a different resort next time.

Amazing experience!

The first day I was a bit skeptical, but by day two everything completely changed — it was amazing! The staff, butlers, and everyone on the resort were so friendly, helpful, and genuinely wanted guests to have a great time. The only downside, honestly, was the mosquitoes this season, so definitely bring bug spray. Other than that, I had an incredible experience — the beach was absolutely stunning!
