Pelican Bay: Pelican Bay - exactly what we wanted

Wasn't sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised with Pelican Bay. The hotel is really boutique in nature, 167 rooms and staterooms. Our room was clean and bright with ample balcony however upon seeing the staterooms we decided to upgrade. The staterooms are beautiful with separate bedroom, large double sink bathrooms, kitchenette and lovely living rooms. The balcony was similar in size to our first room and came with Adirondack chairs and ottomans. The facility has 3 pools and a hot tub. [... read more] Only one pool was heated and the hot tub was not very hot; given the cooler temperatures in February it was not all that conducive to swimming. Temps topped out at around 75f so it was not a hot time in the sun but pleasant. The beaches are spectacular although I preferred Silver Point and Lucayan beach over Taino (more rocks on Taino) and found the temp much warmer on the eastern beaches. (prevailing winds were from the WSW) The locals and staff were very friendly and helpful. Not nearly as many tourists as expected; Grand Bahamas has seen it's tourism heyday and it was much quieter than expected (only busy when the cruise ships are in harbour) Restaurants are plentiful and we did not have a bad meal. Pelican Bay supplied breakfast every morning and it was quite adequate with a wide variety or buffet offerings. The rooms are very clean and well serviced (including a Nespresso coffee maker in each stateroom and a re-supply of pods daily) The hotel is within easy walking distance of the famous Port Lucaya Marketplace; which featured a wide variety of retail ranging from very high end to your local souvenir hawkers. January saw the implementation of VAT (value added tax 7.5% on everything) which made prices increase on everything. However if you showed your passport at the retail stores your purchase was exempt. There is plenty of opportunities to snorkel, dive or dolphin watch and Unexso had a very nice retail outlet for tourists and divers. Finding a Starbucks at the Unexso facility was a extra bonus. Riding the local bus system was a real experience but found little in downtown Freeport of much interest. If you are looking for a very relaxing getaway the Pelican Bay is perfect. If you are looking for hot weather I'd suggest waiting until March or April.

Memories Grand Bahama: Friendly Staff

Staff were great. The resort is small and provides great access for stroller or wheelchairs. Rooms were dated, but appeared to be freshly painted. Food was excellent at the steakhouse, but you never knew if it was going to be open. Not really any nightlife unless you go to the casino or market across the street. Transportation to the golf course was very quick and always available.

Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach: A Gem in Disguise

I was at this resort from Feb 12-19th. I went in with low expectations because the reviews hadn't been great. Check in was fine, although I had an issue with an Ocean view upgrade that I had done before travelling (this was Sunwing's fault for not forwarding the proper paperwork). It took a day to resolve but I was very happy with the outcome. My room was amazing and very clean at all times. The beach was stunning, a beautiful walk in either direction and felt perfectly safe. The food was great  [... read more], there was no beverages served at the buffet so you had to get your own, no big deal you're getting your food anyway. We ate at all the a la cartes and I was glad I did , the Café (gourmet) was my favorite , then the Asian followed by the Italian. The coffee bar was great , although if you are an early bird they aren't open. The weather in Feb requires sweaters and pants in the evening , but usually by the next morning it was warm again. The entertainment staff was amazing , always upbeat and talkative. Never pushy but loved participation from the guests! I enjoyed this property so much I tried to change my April Trip and go back!

Memories Grand Bahama: Nice beach, decent weather, but poor hotel

Service: Although there were a few nice employees working at the hotel, I would say that the majority of staff were cold and unhelpful. We travelled with an infant and the hotel was unacccomodating. Most times we had to grab our high chair, and sometimes our own food at the restaurant as it was just sitting there. Food: food was decent. I do not have complaints on that front. It could be a nice hotel but we were extremely disappointed with the staff. Most were cold and totally unacccomodating.

Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach: A hidden gem on a beautiful beach

I am giving this a 5 star because it was everything it claimed it was and more. Even with cold temperatures and a bit of rain our group of 10 had a great time thanks mostly to the entertainment staff who work so hard every day to ensure everyone if enjoying themselves. We had an ocean view room which is the way to go and the food was about the same as what I have experienced in the DR. We will be back again, there is so much more of the island left to explore.

Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach: Lovely Resort!

I was pleasantly surprised by this resort. Its more a 4 star than a 3 star. The resort looks run down when you arrive, which is too bad because its actually quite nice where renovations have been completed. The beach is awesome, powdery white sand, and you can walk several kilometers in either direction. The pool area is all renovated and has great furniture. Memories Grand Bahama: Beautiful and amazing resort

Memories resort in Freeport Bahamas is a wonderful resort whether ur taking the kids or just relaxing with your significant other. Food is outstanding along with the beaches and activities . The staff and just the people in general are so welcoming . I definitely will be back

Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach: Watch out for this one

Although the hotel itself was nice (beach area, ocean view, pool, bar, restaurant) the lack of service made our stay very poor. Our sink was clogged - twice. Bathroom was not cleaned for 3 days; rained for 6 days and when I asked for an umbrella I was told that they were only for time-share guests. Tea was not always available. The only service in the dining room was to clear tables - it would have been nice to be offered water, tea or coffee. Staff should have moved furniture from the outside to the inside to accommodate guest.

Pelican Bay: Nice and clean hotel

I stayed in this hotel last week of December 2016 ! Everything was very good! The view from the balcony , spacious rooms , swimming pool, jacuzzi,water taxi to Taino Beach ! But the hotel garden is really fabulous ! If heaven exists the way it should be !

Memories Grand Bahama: Good resort

The staff at resort were very laid back nothing and I mean nothing was a rush. Tipping did not get you anymore or less anywhere on the island. The food was good. The plunge pools were only heated during the day which was nice tohave but a waste of money but nice to have. Bees are a problem and that staff says they are stung often. Al in all a good resort. Memories Grand Bahama: Bad resort

I had a bad experience at this resort. Sometimes rude service, cold food, slow service waiting for cutlery and often had to get it myself. Woke up in bed with several bites. Checked for bed bugs, didn't see any but definitely something not right. Other things as well. What a waste of my hard earned money.

Grand Lucayan Breakers Cay: Very disorganized!

Excellent beach! Stayed in brand new section - Lighthouse Point - nice rooms. We weren't allowed to eat or be served at all bars and restaurants. Under staffed and staff very confused on opening hours of restaurants and general information on the hotel. No entertainment at night - pretty boring. Little variety with food selection. We were overcharged on our final bill and had to fight it at the front desk at checkout. Nothing exciting for New Years - had to go to the marketplace across the stree [... read more]t. Too many stresses for an all inclusive resort.

Memories Grand Bahama: Best Resort by far

Mama Bee: colorina arcoiris vasquez Trip Advisor review: I loved the way the Resort was set-up, fast check-in/out even just for non-Diamond Club Member, great flow, great food, great beach, amazing pool design, and great Staff especially the Entertainers such as Mama Bee, Jose, Valentina, Natalie, the Italian Lady (sorry for forgetting the name) and ofcourse the great music at the Prop Bar - the Karaoke nights were such a great idea to release all the stress which could've been so much greater [... read more] if they were longer time untill no one else wants to sing their hearts out - loved the Disco Nightclub every night dancing the night away while munching on wings, nachos, burgers, and fries along with our fave booze. Social Bar, Pool Bar, and Prop Bar bartenders were nice. Stage decor could've been better on the New Year's Eve and perhaps to have someone as a guard on the stage so then kids would not ruin the other decoration. Casino was nice but no luck gambling. Overall it was indeed the Best Resort by far as a matter of fact we'll be returning again to Memories Grand Bahamas Beach & Casino Resort again this coming August 2016 for Bday getaway. I've told my coworkers about my recent vacation and they're all want to go to this Resort as well at some point. So, you all better start planning to visit here before they turn this into a 5-star Resort $$$.

Grand Lucayan Breakers Cay: TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT

This hotel offers many packages & they confused staff & guests. The management is extremely poor & changes their policies day to day. We purchased our package ($2200 all inclusive) a month be4 our trip which it included 8 restaurants and free Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi was breaking off 2 days be4 our arrival & had to purchase almost $12/day. The 2nd day, 2 restaurants were not available for Al/In guests. The Surcharge ($25/person) for the Churchill's restaurant was mandatory. They didn't have any activiti [... read more]es during days and nights (entertainment). Food was limited & services were so poor. If u request 4 something they backed to u at least 4 hours later. Did u know when u purchase the all inclusive package, they already added tips as well, SO u don't need to give tips for services. We visited 7 countries (all inclusive) & this one was distressing vacation for us.

Pelican Bay: Pleasant experience.

The hotel was very enjoyable. Clean, 3 pools were nice and hot tub at end of the day was really nice. The little ferry to the beach was quick and fun and bright you to paradise. The beaches were amazing. We rented bikes for $15 per day from the hotel and discovered more amazing beaches including Banana Bay and Fortuna Beach where we could snorkel off the beach. Water was amazing and sand so fine and white. Wow! People were pretty friendly although the market shopping was high pressure and not pl [... read more]easant for me. One of the vendors got angry with me as I tried to barter which is what everyone does there so bought almost nothing which is fine. Their loss. The marketplace was really awesome place to walk to for food and just to walk around a bit. We also spent New Year's Eve in the marketplace and was amazing. So fun! Oh and the Fish Fry on Taino Beach. Every Wednesday they have a party and was super fun. Right on the beach, dancing outside with locals, good music. So fun. And one last comment, the Conche ceviche was amazing at Tony Macaroni's.

Memories Grand Bahama: Reviews were accurate!!

Very disappointing trip right from the minute we arrived. We had booked an ocean front suite with the diamond club. Upon arrival, our room was not ready so they put us in a room that they said had a little debris outside! That was a shock, when we opened the curtains, there was a dumpster outside our room and the first floor balcony was taped off. As well, there was construction on the floor above us so we listened to jack hammers all afternoon. We got our new room the following day at 4 even th [... read more]ough it was promised to us at noon. Regarding the diamond club, what a waste of money. We got preferred checkin, bathrobes/slippers in our room but that was all from the lengthy list that is advertised. The resort in general is run down. Our room was not cleaned very well daily especially the bathroom. There were a lot of stains on the carpet. The pool was dirty and did not look to be leaned daily. Pool chair cushions on the beach in the diamond club were torn. The food was generally good but the buffet needs new chairs and cushions. We could not find one cushion that was not dirty and stained. Personnel were friendly the first day, but after that they seemed to be inconvenienced if asked for something. Seldom did they say hello in passing. Overall, we were very disappointed in our trip as it was not cheap. This is definitely one resort we WILL NOT return to in e future nor recommend to family and friends. Considering it is part of the Sunwing family, we had much higher expectations.

Memories Grand Bahama: not bad

Overall, we got what we paid for. The food improved as the week went on, the beach was great, the service was not the best. The most annoying thing about this resort was the harassment from the Diamond Club people, it never ended and was extremely annoying!

Memories Grand Bahama: Loved it, minor issues

Loved it. Had an amazing holiday here. Some minor issues that shouldn't bother you if you are aware of them. Room comfortable but bathroom very small, no fan and no space for toiletries (use shelves/mirror beside closet). Service sometimes a little slow in buffet and beach restaurants (make sure you 'Wait to be seated' and they'll get to you faster. Pros: Beach- great, lots of chairs, nice white sand, could walk for miles in either direction, and water very clear. Food- lots to choose from, food [... read more] was good at buffet and great at a la cartes. Drinks- Excellent and not watered down. Staff- everyone we dealt with was very friendly and helpful. Location- great location across from Lucayan Market and 3 min. walk to Unexso Dive Shop (great diving and shark dive was over the top fantastic). Entertainment - lots to do everyday, good nightly shows. All in all, we loved Grand Bahamas, found the people very friendly and always felt safe, on and off the resort. We had a great time and are already planning to go back to Memories Grand Bahamas.

Memories Grand Bahama: Nice resort

The hotel is need a facelift but it's clean, the staff are friendly enough, food was delicious, close to markets pubs and other amenities off the resort. Bathrooms are a bit small but as I said clean. Only complaint is the ice machine is on the 3rd floor, pain in the butt when you're on the first floor!

This was our second time going to Memories Grand Bahamas. We had a fantastic time. The food was great. Staff is always eager to please.Grounds are beautiful. Only complaint is that you can never find silverware out side at the buffet restaurant.
