Sonesta Maho Beach: Wonderful time

We were welcomed on arrival with a lovely drink, steel drum music and lovely friendly faces. Room was ready for us and we were able to unpack, shower and freshen up for supper. Within 2hrs there was a Knock on the door and a lady there with a plate of treats and balloons ready to decorate the room for my husbands birthday, what a lovely surprise. We had two doors that would not shut, One was the  [... read more]bathroom and the other the closet. Within an hour of reporting it, maintenance was there and problem solved. Staff are so accommodating, so friendly and the resort is immaculately clean. Workers continue to keep this look on every floor. Washrooms in all common areas immaculate, women are always there maintaining the cleanliness. Bar staff and waitresses are amazing. All restaurants have a wide variety of food that tastes fantastic. Our favourite was the Italian but loved them all. Our only “negative” was the evening entertainment, not enough live shows and those we had only lasted an hour. Karaoke is ok but not great to keep guests interested. Beach is not great, lovely to look at but as it’s on a deep slope, very hard to walk. Strong undertow kept us from swimming. Fun to watch the planes. Need more shaded areas for guests to relax out of the sun. We loved this resort, and would definitely recommend. Sunwing reps were fantastic and always there every day to assist with any questions or concerns.Dave’s Open top bus tour was amazing, well worth including in your stay. Very safe area and Loved that there wasn’t any mosquitos too. Weather was fabulous the whole week.

Sonesta Maho Beach: Fantastic Resort

The hotel was clean, the dining was great, and the people were lovely. The only thing is I didn’t swim at the beach only once because I got pulled in from the undertow. So that was the only disadvantage.

Sonesta Maho Beach: Great for those looking for all-inclusive, even for just a single night

Hotel rooms were clean, and it was easy to get around the resort. Several options for dining. When we checked into our room it overlooked the family pool and we thought it might be loud in the evening, but all was fine. Shower in the room was a bit odd. Glass only half way and water leaked on the bathroom floor. Otherwise, room was fine. If we had stayed for a full week, would have been very disappointed.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Beautiful beach at sunscape

If you are looking for a peaceful relaxing vacation with great people and a vibrant landscape this is the place for you. The food was good but if you value fine dining at the top of your vacation list..this is not the place for you. High on your list is swimming snorkeling, fun, entertainment and all around relaxation the hotel wiĺl satisfy you greatly. Mangrove Beach Corendon Curacao: Just Ok

Just went here for our honeymoon and overall we enjoyed our trip. Restaurants were good, buffet was ok but there’s a few cons I wish I knew about ahead of time. CONS 1. They have umbrellas but they want $20 USD for one of the palm tree huts 2. Beach is crazy rocky and you should probably bring water shoes 3. Plugs in the room are European and they want $10 USD for an adapter rental that will work for North American plugs 4. Bathroom handles and racks were falling off the walls 5. Pigeo [... read more]ns are legit bad during breakfast and lunch and if you go get food, you better have one person stay behind so they don’t jump all over your table 6. Multiple times I went for beer and they didn’t have any PROS 1. Quick bus ride from the airport 2. Quick walk from the resort into town 3. Chicken nugs at the pool bar taste just like McDonalds 4. Restaurants were pretty easy to reserve using their app 5. Cigar lounge (not included) is sweet and a great quiet place to hang out at night The trip was good and we loved Curacao but We would not go back again to this resort.I would not consider this a 5 star based off other trips we have taken

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Amazing Beach

The resort is dated. The beach is beautiful. Understaffed but very friendly. Entertainment staff very energetic and try to engage ages of all levels. Room was kept clean and mini bar stocked daily. Food was mediocre at best, very repetitive and limited selection. Not likely to return to this resort but no regrets going this time.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Very nice Resort

The hotel is a bit dated, but it is so clean and well kept. Our room was huge and updated. The beds were comfortable. The staff at this hotel were amazing and very friendly and most of them spoke English and they were very welcoming. What I really liked about this hotel was that it was not crowded and everyone was made to feel really safe. We really liked the Italian restaurant and the Japanese restaurant. The buffet had a good selection of food, I would like to have seen a bit less of the [... read more] pasta dishes, even though enjoyable, was a lot. The beach and water was enjoyable, we never went to the pools. The staff and management at this resort were very well organized. We had a lovely stay. No complaints. Walk with water socks as you need to get pass the small rocks in the water, but once you are in it is lovely, a bit cool but refreshing.

Sonesta Ocean Point Resort: Outstanding Service

This is a great well maintained, top notch resort. The staff are exceptional particularly Cheryl (at the Point Pool) who is like a warm hug, Diane (a staff manager who oversees service in the restaurants and pools) who really encourages excellence from her staff in such a pleasant and professional manner. Dining is great especially at Azul. Portofino and Blue Fin would benefit from a more varied menu. Having said that, the staff and kitchen were open to accommodating requests. The drawbac [... read more]k is the lack of a beach. Although picturesque, the shore does not lend itself to a beach. The daily casual entertainment poolside was great! Overall, this is a great resort if not do pricey.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Very Indifferent

The resort itself is 'dated'. While it is not run down it is very plain. However, it is kept clean and hospitable. The rooms are adequate, yet dated. The 'special room' associated with the special rate over looked the garden with a balcony that wasn't wide enough to use, other than hang clothes to dry. The entrance backed out to the service/staff entrance. Though the view was lacking we did not experience any noise issues. The room staff was fine. The beaches were clean and pretty. They are b [... read more]ehind break walls of stone that help create a calm and more welcoming area. There are plenty of lounges and enough room for everyone. The pools were pretty, clean and could accommodate large numbers. There were some activities for all ages and the activities/entertainment staff were fairly good, as was the featured entertainment each evening. The bars were second rate but sufficed if a beer or some fruity cocktail was all you wanted. There was a coffee bar where we got a cappuccino and espresso on a regular basis. Perhaps, if you were lucky there was some cake to have with it, but most of time it lacked anything edible to have with the coffee. The restaurants were adequate, especially in light of what the buffet had to offer, though they did not even approach anything resembling 'fine dining'. These were not always available and lunch venues were limited. That leaves the buffet. One reason that were have stopped visiting Cuba was because of the quality of the food. We had hoped that Curacao would provide a decent alternative. We were wrong. I almost pined for the days of Cuban 3/4 star resort food. The small birds that could easily fly through the window netting surely enjoyed the facilities, including the food. It took a few days to navigate the buffet and figure out what was 'best' to eat...when there was no alternative. The staff, on a one-to-one basis were very pleasant but in general the whole atmosphere just seemed 'indifferent'. All that being said, our goal was to relax in a clean environment (no seaweed!), nice weather and piece and quiet. Sunscape allowed us to meet those goals but certainly did not meet or exceed the expectations that we have grown to expect from other Caribbean resort experiences.

- the hotel was clean and nicely kept - food was amazing with great service at the bars - the grounds were clean with amazing beach - pool was nice with tons of space - waterslides were a lot of fun Definitely recommend this resort

Sunscape Curacao Resort: An amazing beach resort!

We really enjoyed the beach. The snorkeling is amazing around the rocks both on the resort side and on the ocean side. The rocks keep the swimming water calm close to the beach. All of the food at the resort was great. Enjoyed every meal and snack! It is easy to rent a car or take the bus to the various sights around the island.

Mangrove Beach Corendon Curacao: Worst expensive vacation

The hotel is lovely not too big and easy access to the amenities. The service is horrible. When ordering a drink at the bar the staff would turn their backs and not acknowledge the people standing there. I also think they purposely took a longtime to prepare the drinks so I would dread going to get a drink. Unless you only like beer or wine there was very little else other than rum to drink. Anything else you have to pay for it. All the restaurants are outdoors. The buffet is infested wit [... read more]h birds. There is no service in the buffet so people were getting their drinks putting them down and then going to get their food while they were getting food the birds would drink from their glass or they would eat from their plate. The steak restaurant was right on the beach at picnic tables you find in parks. Dinner in the buffet felt like a cafeteria never dressed up The beach is so small. The size of a football field. It is a man made beach with a base of cement with an inch of sand on top. The cruise ships block the view of the ocean The cleanliness is horrible. The glasses were filthy. I got a drink and the glass felt greasy from suntan lotion from-the person who used it before me. The maids barely clean the room. The mini bar only has three bottles of water there is no pop or anything else. No coffee maker in the room. No box of Kleenex or soap bar in the room. No shows at night just a few bands come in for a couple of hours. Don’t book this hotel. It’s like being the movie “the birds”. If you do check your chair for bird poop before you sit down

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Nice resort

Nice resort although if you’re on the tower side there’s three nights out of the week that is very noisy from the resorts down the beach so I recommend to go on the other side the water is pretty the foods OK the service is OK the drinks are OK they have a little equarium baby sharks Flamingoes lots of cool fish I went swimming with the Dolphins we went in town felt very safe 4 Wheeler trail ride can also rent a car go around the island beautiful beaches

Sonesta Maho Beach: Very nice

We received an excellent welcome upon arrival and were offered champagne and warm eucalyptus towels. We were promptly ushered to our wonderful room which happened to be dead centre on the pool and ocean views. Lovely. We enjoyed staff members who were engaging and helpful. Carmelita and the resident bartender at the Italian restaurant were very friendly and helpful. She was very sweet and made an excellent hostess. always enjoyed our dinners a little more because of her kindness.

Sonesta Maho Beach: Fun Resort!

This resort was right on the beach (just a few steps down but easy to navigate). Beach area was small but on a calm day the water was so clear you could see the fish without goggles/snorkel and the bottom was all nice white sand. The planes were cool and didn't interfere with the beauty of the place. Great food options and the buffet changed it up daily! Great location - easy and safe to walk across to the casino, restaurants, shops and to other close by beaches (10 minutes to Mullet Bay and 20  [... read more]minutes to Simpson Bay). Mullet Bay was a little bigger but busy - could rent chairs. Simpson Bay was quiet, not many amenities, but you could walk for miles along the beach. Local bus (van) stopped right in front of hotel and took you to the Dutch capital, Philipsburg for only $2 and it ran frequently. Pools were great and lots of different activities going on throughout the day. Evening events varied - some music/dancing, karaoke, illusionists. All were good but ended early most nights. Rooms were clean and balcony was great. Overall, a funtastic vacation!

Sonesta Maho Beach: Great Resort!

This was our first time in St. Maarten and at Sonesta Maho Beach beautiful hotel rooms were clean, food was great loved the Italian restaurant, cooking steaks on lava stone was pretty cool. The people were very friendly and helpful. The entertainment with Mike Price the juggler was amazing and Mack was funny and entertaining. Favorite bartenders were Eddy and Daniel both were so friendly and a great help when asking where to go in St. Maarten. I was worried about being so close to the airport a [... read more]nd having the planes fly over but I have to say it was entertaining and absolutely amazing walking over to that part of the beach to have them fly over you. Sonesta Maho Beach: Amazing vacation

Sonesta Maho Resort was the nicest place we have ever stayed. Friendly staff, clean rooms, excellent food and well maintained grounds. The Italian restaurant and Palms Grill were our favourites. So nice not having to make reservations. The buffet was your typical all inclusive buffet - I’ve had better and I’ve had worse. The bartenders and servers were friendly and efficient

Sonesta Maho Beach: Best staff anywhere

Pro The weather is the same almost everyday. 28°C during the day and 23° C at night. Stayed on the 7th floor in a signature oceanfront room. It was nice. The showers are kind of odd in that they do not have a door so water goes everywhere no matter how careful you are. In room safe, coffee, water, pop, beer and liquor. The staff are amazing. Every single one of them is concerned about your experience and your happiness. It warms my heart to see that they take care of the many stray cats. Being right next to the airport you would think that would be a drawback but it’s not. It’s loud but nothing before 8AM and after 8PM. It’s actually very cool to see them land up close. Food is pretty good but unfortunately no wow moments. Never had much of an issue getting a pool chair. Some people abuse the reserving of chairs but that’s the same everywhere. Most of the guests were very friendly and pleasant. A handful of selfish people but again that’s the same everywhere. Cons Smoking at the pool, on the balconies and in public areas. Even an ashtray and smoking spot right outside the main doors heading to the pool. Cigar and cigarette smoke everywhere. It’s nauseating. Music blaring from an off site venue from 2AM-3AM one night. Bass booming and headache inducing. Live music in the pool area louder than necessary.

Sonesta Maho Beach: Awesome holiday!

Great food!! Very, very clean. Staff are all friendly and very helpful, with the exception of the front desk staff. They were not helpful at all. We have already booked a return visit! I would highly recommend this resort!!

Sonesta Maho Beach: Beautiful resort

This resort was amazing! We thought we would tire of the planes. Further from the truth. Each and every day we were amazed with them. Took lots of pictures. We did the island tour and rum factory tasting. Wish it was a bit longer. The food was excellent. Gentlemen, no need for long pants, as long as you have nice shorts and a collared shirt. At La Fontana's ask for Meena as your server. She was so much fun. Only down fall was our room was on the casino side of the building and it is loud until a [... read more]bout 3am. Bring earplugs. Otherwise we had a fantastic time.
