Estelar Playa Manzanillo: WARNING!!!!!!

Great pictures.....BAD idea. The staff are rude and incompetent. The rooms are definitely not as advertised. Most services have been sourced out to independent companies. The concierge service is actually a salesman for timeshares. Two people in our group contracted food poisoning or bacterial infection. This I realize is normal n Punta Cana but instead of fixing the problem they have managed to build a business on it. If you go to the Doctor for medication you are put into the system. Ambulance [... read more] to private hospital. Any number of tests, ultra sound and a recommendation to stay forr observation. Why? $$$$$$$ $1260.00 later for our little visit. We refused to sign papers that were all in Spanish so they let us go with just the medication they could have given us originally at the resort clinic. I don't usually complain but felt that I should warn people that this hotel is not where you want to go.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: beautiful resort

The people were fantastic, food was good, loved the taco/pizza place. Kept very clean. Only complaint would be had to ask all the time for water and beer to be added to our fridge. They only put two in a day but when asked had no problem doing it for you. Wild life was cool.

Memories Miramar Habana: Enchanting and Beautiful

I just wanted to thank you for our fantastic vacation in Cuba. We absolutely loved the Cuban people! The Memories of Miramar was well looked after and beautiful, and the staff were all warm, eager to help, and capable. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet's wide range of food that catered to everyone's tastes, and the ever-present live music really added Cuban rhythm. The water ballet was spectacular and far more professional than I had imagined. Cuba rolled the technological clocks back; so many old machines being nursed along and kept useful, along with the every-day use of horses as beasts of burden and ever present both in town and in rural settings. Memories of Miramar was the best "home base" for our Havana adventure imaginable - thanks so much for your great work!

Occidental Punta Cana: Fantastic vacation!

If you want a clean, well laid out resort, this one fits the bill. Set in the central area of Bavaro beach, you can walk the beach in either direction until you tire out. Beautiful beach area, meandering pools. It offers quiet areas to relax, or fun areas to participate and interact with other vacationers. The staff was fantastic, always stopped what they were doing to assist you. Decent entertainment, decent a la cartes, and many choices for food (away from the a la cartes) and drinks. Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Amazing first visit to Mexico

This was a great place to stay. Lots of restaurants to choose from. Yes the resort is large but it allowed us to do a lot of exploring. Staff everyone were very accomadations. Our room was beautiful..

Occidental Punta Cana: Great vacation!

The resort was overall great! Good was amazing especially the steak restaurant. The escursions were really fun! The bathroom was not good at all and there was water all over the room from the tub leaking. The staff was extremely friendly too. Would recommend.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Amazing service fro Trip Central/Carol Webb

All service provided by Carol at Trip Central was above and beyond. We will definitely be calling her for our next vacation. I have been to Playa Del Carmen 6 times so I have a lot to compare to. This resort is very different and very cool! Really awsome jungle experience Amazing service from the hotels guest services in spite of the front desk being horrible. But we still really enjoyed this resort and would definitely go back after all front desk employees are fired!! :)

Occidental Papagayo: Simply Brilliant!

This was a fantastic resort -the food was very good, lots of variety and plenty of fresh fruit and veggies every meal. The staff were always helpful and pleasant. The grounds are beautiful. Very clean!

Sirenis Tropical Varadero: This resort should be shut down

After our trip to the Allegro I have sworn off Cuba altogether. The hotel was in disrepair. The roof in the lobby was leaking, the rooms were dirty. When it rain one of the people traveling with us ended up with large amounts of water in their room. The dining room was dark and dirty. No table linens and brown paper towel ripped off a roll under your dishes. The food was horrible. After a bug crawled out of my husband's food we didn't eat at the resort again. Even the locals laughed when we told them where we were staying and asked how the food was..............

Allegro Cozumel: great experience

The thatched roof in our room allowed us to wake to the sounds of birds! We did not hear any of our neighbour's at any time. The hammock on the balcony was fabulous. Laura kept our room very clean and was very pleasant each day. Food was good but not always hot at the buffet. The Mexican restaurant was excellent but can't say the same for the Italian. The grounds were well taken care of and the children's area looked amazing. Lots to do for them. The beach was great but walking was hard as the s [... read more]and is very soft. We booked a 2 hour tour with Albertos & it was well worth the money. Carlos and Jesus had us snorkelling with the nurse shark, star fish,barracuda and much much more.

Allegro Cozumel: Fantastic vacation!

This resort is simply amazing!! I would go back anytime. I will recommend this place to my friends. Beautiful beach. The food was good, specially the restaurant a la carte. We received an excellent service. I loved the hamac on our room balcony.

Sirenis Tropical Varadero: Our side was great

There was not a lot of Canadians when we arrived, but later in the week more came. Lots of Europeans... The beach club rooms where beautiful. Clean, recently renovated, awesome views, beautiful pool, beach and grounds. The staff was for the most part great! Friendly & helpful! The food was standard Cuban fare...always lots of yummy salads and pastas so that works for me :0)

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Good Resort

I visited this resort March 17-24 2015. Overall, it's a nice resort and I would go back. The food: The food is okay. Basic, but there was always something to eat. Lots of fresh seafood, the pizza was okay, the pasta was okay, nothing stands out. We only went to the Mexican A La Carte and it was mediocre. The Beach: The beach is beautiful, no complaints at all. We went to the front desk and were moved immediately to a room on the second floor which was clean and we had no complaints. The maid service was great and Overall, there were no more issues. The staff was awesome, the pool was always clean and the weather was beautiful. I would recommend this resort.

Occidental Punta Cana: ok

Would not return to this hotel. Rooms OK, but bathroom disgusting and smelled of cigarette smoke. Problem getting towels & services that were promised. Waited over 4 hrs before we could get into our room. Couldn't get away from cigarette smoke and beach area very crowded. Spa services mediocre at best and expensive. Food ok, drinks sucked. (how is that possible??) Pool was nice and very clean but music drove us crazy. Same over and over again. Change the music.

Allegro Cozumel: could be a great place if better management

Rooms are OK they are clean but very basic. The grounds are not bad but if you you have a weak stomach you will not be able to take the smell of sewage. The food is very basic necessities. You have to ask for the most basic bacon and although you ask you may not always get it. The service is very very slow especially at the bar on the beach. You may have to wait 20 mins to get a drink. Allegro Cozumel: Some good, some bad

Three major pools - Kids pool (3/5): small slides, water fountains, etc. A number of the watergun/splash features did not work - Relaxation pool (4/5): Nice and big, mostly used by families with small children and lap swimmers. - Activity pool (3/5): Has a swim up bar, occasional water polo, volleyball, aerobics activities Beach (2.5/5): - Beach is not very long, only has room for 2-3 rows of chairs - Only has one beach volleyball court - Has lifeguard on duty during the day - Sand is very roug [... read more]h Food (2.5/5): - Not the worse, not the best - Nice omelette station for breakfast - Not a wide range of food selections compared to other resorts - Restaurants are small vs. number of guests - Italian specialty restaurant is not recommended - 30-40% of our group had on/off diarrhea/stomach aches from the food, so be ready with medicine in case - You can ask the waiters for sausage/bacon and they'll bring you some from the kitchen Service (2.5/5) - Receptionist staff were helpful and very nice - Bar staff were hit and miss, some were very nice, others us weird looks and seemed annoyed at our requests - Restaurant staff are either slow or understaffed; they keep running out of food, cutlery, drinks, etc. - You always need to wait for a table at the restaurants even though there are always available seats Rooms (2/5): - Most of our rooms had issues - A few of the rooms had major/minor water leaks, one of the washroom sinks did not drain, the water pressure in the showers were poor, room always felt damp/moist Other: - Location (2/5): Requires a $12 (40min) ferry to get to mainland and Cozumel side has less activities and shops - Sports (4/5): Basketball and tennis courts were nice; abundance of equipment available for use; gym was nice

Allegro Papagayo by Occidental: beautiful grounds

grounds were well maintained. Food was was fine - loved the variety everyday. Fresh fruit and smoothie bar was amazing. Would recommend the ala carte restaurants - especially the Italian one. Entertainment was okay. The entertainment team were excellent dancers and versatile as they put on the show every night. The International Night barbeque and show was awesome. We stayed in Building 10 which was perfect. We asked to be moved on the first day as our first room was not acceptable. Staff were g [... read more]reat about moving us. Shuttles were regular which would take you up to the main reception area. The view is beautiful from there but a long steep walk from the pool area so the shuttle is great.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Great resort - too bad the beach area is so small

excellent hotel, mostly friendly staff although the service in the restaurants could be a little quicker, pools were great and the tiny beach area was good. Overall the resort was a great spot for a vacation

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Average three star in Cuba

Rooms were clean and grounds were neat. The food left a lot to be desired, but there were some things in the buffet that were reasonably good. The beach was awesome and the staff were friendly and helpful for the most part. The resort could definitely use more maintenance, but overall it was a great stay and I would go again if the price was right.
