Bel Air Collection Xpu-Ha Riviera Maya: Restful, Relaxing Rustic Resort

We had such a great vacation! Our room was lovely, it was located right beside a small cenote that had fish and turtles in it. The two man hot tub in the room was amazing! We used it almost every day! We enjoyed visiting all of the animals and although some of the cages were a little small the animals did look well cared for. We kayaked with the manatees, we snorkled in a lagoon that we discovered in the ruined part of the resort. We relaxed by the pool and the beach front, we walked the resorts [... read more] rocky beach that took us to the Barcello sand beach, not even 5 minutes to the left of the resort. We never got a chance to go to the sand beach offered with this resort but we heard that it was amazing! We took the local bus to Playa Del Carmen to do some shopping, the bus stopped right outside the resort and we never waited more than 5 minutes. We walked a lot on the resort and what made the walks so interesting were all of the animals along the paths. Lions, Tigers, Monkeys, alligators, kangaroos, deer, birds (all kinds), iguanas and so much more! We really enjoyed the food, we never ordered from the menu so I can't comment on that but we had the buffet and it was always great. There was a chef at the grill for all meals, you could order, steak, shrimp, fish, chicken and of course omelettes at breakfast. The ceviche was amazing and we always felt like there was enough variety to choose from. Keep in mind that this is a small resort so the buffet does reflect that. We ate at the sushi bar a couple of times and it was so good too! The chocolate martinis were tastey as was the tempura shrimp, maki shushi and tuna shushi! My fiance said that he did not like shushi but he changed his mind on this trip! We would return to this resort again. If you like a relaxing vacation that is a little different then the norm, this is the place to go. If you want lots of activities and exciting night life, this is not the resort for you.

Bel Air Collection Xpu-Ha Riviera Maya: Average Resort

The hotel is old. My guess is approximately 40 years old. It was destroyed in the hurricane about 12 years ago, and only 1/3rd of the resort is utilized today. The food was good, but selection somewhat limited. Service was great. Staff were great. The hotel has absolutely no nightly entertainment. My daughter had her beach bag stolen and it contained her brand new phone, some pesos, clothes, etc The staff took a report, said they would review security cameras, but of course they never did. In sp [... read more]eaking to a couple of Mexicans at the resort, they said there was absolutely no doubt in their mind that it was a staff member. I hate to accuse anyone, but I'm just passing on the statements made by the staff. The theft occurred at the pool, and my daughter left her bag unattended for less than 5 minutes while she went to the washroom. Needless to say, this left a bad taste in our mouth, and I would never go back to this resort. Nor would I recommend it to others.

My trip was ok. Weather good and food not bad. The trouble we had with our resort was there was a few people who had things stolen. My friend being one of them, she had her beach bag taken which had her cell phone and ipod in it.

We had a wonderful time at the Bel Air. It is very quiet and perfect for R&R My only recommendation is to have a ATM on site. It is also a wonderful place ot bring children with all the wildlife for them to observe and experience.

Moon Palace Cancun: We LOVE Moon Palace!

We went to Moon Palace 2 years ago and loved it so much we came back this year with our 6 month old! The resort is only about 10-15 minutes from the airport so you don't waste hours on the bus getting to and from. Both times we were transported with only Moon Palace guests so no other stops along the way! There are LOTS of food choices (13 restaurants or something like that), and you don't need to make reservations for the a la cartes. There are a couple 24 hr coffee shops with ice cream, desserts, fresh fruit popsicles and fresh crepes! So much food you could eat all day! We tend to spend most of our time in the heated pool near the Grand area, so not sure if there are other heated pools, but huge bonus when travelling with babies/small children having a heated pool. 24 room service and $1500 resort credits (when staying for 7 days) are awesome. We didn't do any excursions this time, but did a couple last time and you only pay 16% tax and use the resort credits for the rest. Excursions using resort credits are limited, but I think still a good selection. Both times we enjoyed a massage at the spa using resort credits. The staff compared to other resorts I've been to are very friendly! When eating at buffets, often a waiter/waitress will carry your plate back to your table for you and pull our your chair! Every time any staff walks past you anywhere on the resort, they always acknowledge you and say hola! There is a pillow menu! You can order different pillows: lavender, mint, memory foam etc. They also have a 'turn down service' at night time which is an extra perk. Even though people place towels on chairs early to reserve chairs poolside, we never had a problem (in the grand area anyways) finding pool chairs. It would be nice if they enforced the 'no reserving chairs' rule however. When relaxing by the pool, there are waiters/waitresses getting you food and drinks so you pretty much never have to get up if you don't want to! If you're looking to swim in the ocean, this may not be the best resort for you. The beach has a lot of seaweed that floats in the water close to shore so we didn't see a lot of people swimming in the water. They do a great job of clearing the seaweed that washes onto the sand though so you can still walk along the water! We can't say enough good things about this place! We would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a nice, relaxing vacation. Be prepared to gain a few pounds from all the food ;)

Bel Air Collection Xpu-Ha Riviera Maya: Quiet resort

Not a lot to choose from. Two restaurants, one side was breakfast and the other side was dinner. If it got busy they opened up both sides. Only one lobby bar and one pool bar. Staff very friendly. Great for people looking to just relax.

Bel Air Collection Xpu-Ha Riviera Maya: Great Resort for Families

Great resort, the only two complaints I have was that the animals are noisy in the mornings and there was no sandy beaches on site. They shuttled you off to a local beach every 20 mins. The staff were very nice and attentive.

Moon Palace Cancun: The best there is!

Have visited Moon Palace two years in a row and haven't been to a better all inclusive. Entire staff is excellent. If you're a golfer introduce yourself to Adrian the starter, he's the absolute best of a great staff resort wide.

Moon Palace Cancun: Fantastic Family Vacation

The Moon Palace exceeded our expectations overall. I can't say enough about the amazing service from the flowers and cool towels we were given at reception to the private check in area that had drinks and snacks which were a pleasant surprise for everyone after the long flight. The hotel was only 15-20 min drive from the airport. Every single staff member were incredibly polite, friendly and genuinely looking to make your day better. We travelled with 8 kids ranging from age 1-10 and the kids c [... read more]lub at both the Nizuc (smaller club) and the Sunrise (about 5 times bigger with a climbing zone, theatre, video games and a ton of activities) were a huge hit with all the kids. The staff was very interactive and actually played with the kids. the teen club was filled with an arcade and video games for the older kids which was fun for the dads as well! Food was fantastic and not having to make reservations was a pleasant change and very relaxing. Favorites were the grill by the Nizuc pool which had grilled chicken, steak, burgers and fish daily, the Brazilian steakhouse, Momo Japanese cooking tables - great show and delicious food! Only downside was the pools were not heated (not a issue for the little kids but the older ones and adults found it too cold to go in) and some issues with booking the golf on the resort credits. They told us that they were booked solid for 2 weeks and the first tee time each day was 3:45pm which would barely give you 9 holes before it gets dark. So we had to pay extra baggage fees to bring down our clubs and we were only able to get one round in after spending over 2 hours fighting with the booking agents and the managers. Booking everything else was no issue and its much easier to call 4444 to book spa packages instead of waiting in the long lines at the main lobby. Be sure to ask about the hidden fees for the excursion packages booked with the resort credits (ie. towel or transportation fees that aren't included). We did the dolfin trip and although it was very expesive $150 pp (and no kids rate) it was one of the best ones we have ever done and there was alot of time spent with the Dolfins. Otherwise, the resort was beautiful, clean, very well kept and we had an amazing time. We are looking very forward to going back to this resort within a year so that we can use our remaining resort credits. I highly recommend this resort for anyone with families.

Sun Palace Hotel: Top notch service, relaxing, no kids

Well-maintained adults only hotel close to the cancun strip. Easy access to shopping and nightlife with the public transit bus. Food was amazing everyday, although my absolute favorite was the Italian restaurant. The views from the room, restaurant, and pools was amazing. The sun rises right outside your window every morning. In-room jacuzzi takes forever to fill but makes for an enjoyable relaxing experience. Rooms are VERY Clean and modern. Staff are superb on every level although I do recommend avoiding the timeshare presentation if you are not looking to spend your life savings. Entertainment staff were friendly and kept the fun going. Beach staff will set up your umbrella once you've picked your lounger everyday! Unlike other resorts, it was never difficult to find a lounger on the beach or by the pool. We did the chitchen itza and dolphin swim excursion with our resort credits. Both were well-run and very enjoyable. Palace resorts is the best experience I have ever had and I will definitely return in the future. We visited each of the sister resorts beach palace and moon palace and all were amazing. Moon palace is far and does NOT have a nice beach, but it still provides a great family resort experience.

Friendly staff, good food, resort is in dire need of repairs ( mother in law fell twice over broken pavement ). Seems the emphasis is put on the zoo and no attention is put on the resort.Only about half the staff speak English. Resort beach really sucks. They will cart you to another beach location but it's very inconvenient.Nice little pool play area for the kids.Resort is too close to the highway. everything was very clean and the staff were very helpful.the are was very beautiful.was really nice to be able to tour all the other resorts as well as those on the islands,never a boring day.Had a lot of fun.

Moon Palace Cancun: 3rd stay at Moon Palace!

We have loved this resort so much we went back a third time this past week. The food, service, room was fantastic as usual. Yes, there is some new construction going on near the Grand but so many other places in the resort to enjoy a great view. The food at the rest. are great and we enjoyed the Momo and Italian at the golf club. As well a great steak at the steak rest. Best fish tacos at the outside bar/grill at Nuzic pool. Bar staff at the Sunrise awesome! Professional yet engaging with us. One suggestion would be more indoor entertainment. With the small stage area at Sunrise one would think a nice Mexican band a few nights a week would be welcome. Same entertainment (supposed to be karaoke but the same guy night after night not sharing the stage!) is tired the third year in a row!

Moon Palace Cancun: Loved Exploring each Palace Resort

Great food. Very Clean. And we totally took advantage of the reciprocal arrangement they offer... allowing us to eat and swim at all six Palaces in the area (too bad they no longer offer the free shuttle service from Palace to Palace). We explored both islands, Cancun, Cozumel and Playa all from our 'home' base of a 'new' Palace for the day.

Moon Palace Cancun: Beyond Great

I went to Cancun for a medical vacation. I stayed at the moon palace and the resort did all they could to be of assistance. I would order room service because I was bed ridden for most of my stay. They would bring me my food and ask every time if I needed anything else or if they could do anything at all to help in any way. The hotel customer relations would also call once a day to see if I need anything extra sent to my room. They found out when my appointments where and had a wheel chair and c [... read more]arts ready at my door for me to go. Food was always good in the restaurants and room service. The rooms where clean. Staff very friendly.

Moon Palace Cancun: Great resort!

There are three lobbies: Grand, Sunrise and Nizuc. We stayed at Grand but you can go to the other two as well. The room was incredible, marble flooring, glass showers, in-suite hot tub, free liquors and wine, huge patio, etc. Pools are great too, so many options. Our only complaint was the food, quality was well above the average but not a lot of variety. Overall, it was a pleasure staying at Moon Palace.

Moon Palace Cancun: Great Resort!

Great resort. Room and hotel were clean. Most of all, staff were very friendly and helpful. It is a large property with 4 different hotel "blocks". Sunrise is the centre and largest of all. The Flowrider and kid water park are there. Nizuc is a quieter location with a water slide but not much else. One facility is adults only and I'm not sure about the 4th. The resort is out of the way of the main hotel area and very secure. The beach was private, without people trying to sell you things. Sunrise hosts a mini-market every Thursday for those who are looking for authentic souvenirs so you don't even have to leave the resort. Can't comment on excursions as we didn't do any. Just wanted the sun and relaxation.

This was a great resort with all to offer. Although Mother Nature did download a lot of rain, we did get our fill of great golf. Great food and love not having to book restaurants (except at spa/golf course which I highly recommend for either breakfast or dinner) Love the people The only thing to keep in mind is that they do have a process of passing you through various departments - it is all related to selling you weeks. Don't get discouraged as they are doing their job I also recommend that they put the tee times on a global website so we can see availability - the week we were there, there was a group of over 120 golfers on a golf vacation that chewed up a lot of the tee times. It would have been nice to know this ahead of time FYI - don't go for the beach if you want to swim in the ocean All in all a great trip. Be patient and you will enjoy!

Sun Palace Hotel: Very good

Overall was very good but snack bar pool music was loud and irritating.. Should be turned down by 3:00 pm when you are trying to enjoy the ocean sounds Our room was above this pool. All rooms have a beautiful ocean view. Would have been quieter in another area of the hotel. Service and staff was excellent. Nightly entertainment was not very good.

Despite initially wanting to take an excursion outside the resort, it turned out there was simply no need to leave the grounds.
