Royalton Grenada Resort and Spa: Don't Go, it's up for sale

A 10 star property with a 1 star operation. The whole Rex chain is for sale so absolutely no money is going into this property. Beyond the horrendously horrible food and very limited selection and availability times is the lack of liquid. The place is massive and there is only one bar open and thats at the pool - and you have to climb 50 steps to get up to it!!! If you're at the far end of the beach this is over a kilometre walk! Royalton CHIC Antigua: Overall comfortable little resort

This resort is perfect for those who don't need much. The rooms are good always clean facilities (pool/beach) are perfect for those who have little kids and for the adults who just want a quick and refreshing dip in the water. It is unfortunate that one side of the beach (closest to the bar and carib dining) has lots of stones on the sand and upon entry to the water but again it is easy to deal with. Anywhere you want to go is a taxi ride away and not expensive and taxis are readily available right on the resort. All of the staff are so very nice and helpful special thanks to Shane in the main dining for making our stay that much more enjoyable. This young man works hard and it is obvious that he will go places in life if the right opportunity is presented to him. Overall a good little resort.

Royalton Grenada Resort and Spa: Amazing Trip

The hotel was clean and well maintained. Our room was cleaned every day, fresh towels were provided daily. The beach area was fantastic, one improvement to advise is to get same sunbeds or at least fix the old ones:) Beach towels no complaints. Food was simple but very tasty and had different options everyday. One improvement to make is to have more fruits.

Rex St Lucian: it was awesome beach and view of the ocean

the beach and service was great, but lack entertainment in the evening. which it had more activities in the resort. food was good but the location was awesome, it lack things to do and you need to get off the resort to keep busy. enjoy my stay

Staff: Friendly! Seem timid at times however getting conversating with them and they are great people! Fenton - Entertainment Dept - chirp him if you want to see some activities happening on your stay!! Especially water aerobics !! He's pretty hilarious and can get things going if you JOIN IN ! Janet - the towel lady - she seems shy, however once you get her talking shes pretty awesome Dave - the dude on the beach with matching everything! from glasses to hat to shirt......buy excursions from [... read more] him and he'll take care of you. Very personable and laid back! Orlando - Bartendar - Call him Boss!! Ask him for the "orlando special" and youll love that drink Great bartendar and very humble! Dalston - Bartendar - older gentlemen, but dont let that fool you! He can jam and have great convos with you! Great bartendar as well!! Very personable! Ann-Marie - Restaurant supervisor - shes amazing laid back and personable. Love her. All the ladies at breakfast are amazing also!! Miss chatting with them already Food: breakfast amazing, lunch the curry chicken, jerk chicken and stew chicken were IDEAL! Especially the BBQ day on Saturday eve! Restaurant Staff: amazing service. no complaints. Rooms: Average. If you have been to Cuba - same type of feel. Bathrooms could get some renos however you have all you need. Fridge: All inclusive doesnt get you water, pop or alcochol in your mini fridge which makes no sense to me. A FIRST experience for me and ive travelled everywhere in the caribbean and that MAFE NO SENSE. The water on the resort is safe to drink, even though the locals tell you to get bottled water instead because its better. I drank the water given on the resort amongst others and we are all fine Snacks: BRING SOME WITH YOU.......as things are a bit pricey in the hotel shop. just saying. I get they need to make money, however if you can bring your favorites from home, i recommend it. Coffee Lovers: my recommendation is bring your own! Housekeeping: Keep things tidy! We left tips each day and the room was clean and good to go and stocked with towels, toiletries and bed made everyday. A La Carte Menu: That is only one and the ODD part about it, is youhad to pay for? It wasnt included in all inclusive- which is another thing that makes no sense to me - as all inclusive SHOULD include those things. So keep that in mind. We stayed on room 336 which gave you a nice niew of the beach and pool area. The ocean view rooms that actually face the ocean do not have balconies. Sunday do the Shirley Heights Excursion. The Mountain top view is gorgeous! Also bring exta cash to enjoy their BBQ there and a few drinks! Its worth it ! All in all a relaxing vacation. If you are looking for a party resort this isnt the one for you.

Royalton Grenada Resort and Spa: Beautiful place to relax

The Rex is a fantastic place to come and unwind from the everyday tolls of life. Beach is the highlight.Three meals per day with limited selection but no late evening food or snacks available . Local drinks available with all-inclusive but premium drinks are available for an extra charge. Staff very friendly. The bar staff 'will' not fill your personal thermal mug. The beach bar was closed, so the walk to the pool bar was a bit of a hike .Pool and furniture top notch around pool area, but beach  [... read more]chairs definitely need immediate replacing. Beach front rooms with the ocean sounds are incredible. Those with mobility issues, beware, other room categories require many stairs and the beach has a slope to the ocean.

Rex St Lucian: It was great!

We booked with Air Canada. Shuttle was waiting. Easy drive and check in. Rooms are old but you get TV and hot showers. Food was really good, especially breakfast. Everyone was kind. Best part wast it's right on the beach which is a great beach. The only negative is the local men that hound you to give them money or buy something every day. They have a secunity but thy just stand there. I talked to someone at another resort and their security guard actually told them to go away.

Rex St Lucian: Great Resort!

The resort was just what we were looking for. It was very clean and the hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was great and, of course, the beach was wonderful. The hotel was located close to all shopping, etc. The only thing lacking was nightly entertainment and the pool could have been bigger. But overall, we had a lovely holiday. We certainly would return.

Rex St Lucian: everything was perfect

Great value for the money. It might not have all the bells and whistles like some resorts but the location is perfect, the staff are great and the people I met were fabulous. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Rooms are clean and the food was very good. Better than some 5 star I stayed in. Can't wait to go back...love St. LUCIA! If you are traveling alone as I was this is the perfect location.

Rex St Lucian: Fantastic Beach!

The Saint Lucian by Rex is an old property. It can use some overhauling for sure. However, the rooms were clean and the bed comfortable. The staff is extremely friendly. The maids don't steal like I've experienced at other resorts. The Island is beautiful. The beach is perfect. The only problem is that it is a public beach and you have allot of locals trying to sell you coconuts, Aloe Vera and woven baskets and hats. Royalton Grenada Resort and Spa: Rex Grenadian

The Rex Grenadian was an average resort. The grounds and hotel are well-maintained, but overall the resort would benefit from a major renovation and various touch-ups. The food was tasty, even though there was a lack of variety. Service was average, sometimes it was difficult to get a server.

Rex St Lucian: Worth Every Penny

The Rex St. Lucian may be older but it was clean, the food was good the people friendly and the beach is the best on the island. Walking distance to Rodney Bay where there are shops, restaurants, bars and a casino. This resort was everything I needed it to be. Special thanks to Linus who took care of us during check in. Royalton Grenada Resort and Spa: Friendly smiling faces always offering to assist.

Very clean a lot of characters to the buildings of the resort, natural nature surrounds you, enjoyed the quietness. Staff are truly amazing, it's nice to see the manager on sight. Friendly chef who came out and, chat with us.

Rex St Lucian: Comfortable

Dress as you wished. Met some very nice guests from Europe/Canada/US/Scotland and staff. It is still a 3 star, but a good 3 star in our minds. Food was varied but standard. You could drink the tap water. Beach front property. clean. staff liked to joke around. Were tipped.

Royalton CHIC Antigua: Winter Escape

The hotel is old but our room was clean with a comfortable bed, working air conditioner and fully functional bathroom with plenty of hot water. Located on one of the islands' best beaches (we toured the island to compare), Dickenson Bay, it also has the best location on that beach. Food was adequate. Being a small resort (which we prefer) it's impossible to offer the variety you would get at the larger resorts without substantial waste. Bar service was provided during hours that were more than a [... read more]dequate. The hotel is located in a perfect spot for airport access, golf course and shopping in downtown St. Johns. We would love to visit this island again and based on the price to stay at this resort versus other locations, wouldn't hesitate to stay at Halcyon Cove again.

Royalton Grenada Resort and Spa: The friendliest people!

We got back yesterday from a week at the Rex in Grenada. We were blown away by the friendliness of the staff and people of Grenada!! The hotel was also a bonus in the sense that it was everything we could have asked for in a resort. Not posh, food was ample and a big enough variety for us and it was so safe, we never worried about our bags on the beach or having any harm come to us. We hope to get back to Grenada at some point and hope to return to the Rex when we do!

Royalton Grenada Resort and Spa: Spectacular Setting, Perplexing Dancing Incident

The resort rooms are a bit small and basic, but functional. The bed and pillows were uncomfortable. The grounds are large, with two beach areas that are essentially private. Many birds are on the property. Fish and coral are observable from the resort beaches. The clientele is largely older. We were disappointed with the band on one evening. For some inexplicable reason, the band stopped playing near the beginning of a song when we went to the dance floor, and only resumed playing when we left t [... read more]he dance floor. I tried twice to get an explanation from the resort manager, however, the manager did not seem interested in talking with me. The entire incident was bizarre. Other evenings we enjoyed dancing to live musicians. While this is a very minor issue, we would have enjoyed dancing, would like to have understood why the musicians that evening apparently did not want anyone dancing, and would have liked the opportunity to discuss the incident with the resort manager. It leaves me wondering what the response would have been to something more substantial. Without this one incident I would be far more complimentary of the resort. The island of Granada also has the option of many interesting outings. We walked into St. Georges one day (about 8 km), and took the local bus service back to the resort. It was a great way to get a real perspective on the island. We also took a day trip around the island, a snorkeling catamaran boat trip to an underwater statue park, and a hike to the first two of the seven sisters waterfalls. All were excellent, although we would have preferred a hike to all seven sisters waterfalls rather than just the first two. A word of caution: Even the first two sisters waterfalls are only for the physically fit that don't mind a bit of mud. For all seven sisters, you need to find a guide that knows the area well. My impression was that very few hike to all seven sisters.

Royalton CHIC Antigua: RETRO RESORT

This resort is older but has been well kept for the most part reno's are on going with little distrbance to it's guest. We loved the 60's feel felt like you where in a 007 movie. All staff are happy helpful and energetic they will go out of there way to help you! The food was the best a great selction and always fresh. The beach is very nice and not crowded unlike the 5 star next door we always had a chair and shade when we needed it and we did not have to get up a 5am to out your towell on a ch [... read more]air to save it . It is a smaller resort there for it is easy to get to know other patrons and staff. The shows each night where great always different,they even had karioke one night!! If you are looking for the biggest bang for your buck this is the place cost effective r and r is what i called it . had a great time keep up the great work thanks again hope to see you all again soon!!!

Royalton Grenada Resort and Spa: relaxing holiday

The hotel is old (1990s) but clean and well maintained with nice grounds. The food was excellent, and varied, and there were three meals a day plus afternoon tea at 4 o'clock. A friendly staff who were always cheerful and helpful. Well worth a second visit and several guests were repeat visitors. It is far enough south to get good weather in January.

Royalton Grenada Resort and Spa: MOST WONDERFUL

What an experience! My first trip to an island on an all-inclusive vacation was a memory I will always cherish. The resort was expansive, lush wish greenery and the view of the Caribbean Sea took my breath away. The resort was clean but in need of some updates; every member of the staff were overly attentive to our needs and they simply could not do enough for us to ensure our stay was everything it could be and more.
