Sunscape Puerto Plata: Beautiful landscaping

The grounds were immaculately kept. Beach was good. Rooms were big with comfy beds and pillows. Pools was very accessible and clean. Food was typical DR. Lots but not a good variety of fruits or salad items. I would have liked more fish options. Note that there are no elevators and many paths are bumpy if you are handicapped. Entertainment was not good.

I wouldn’t recommend this vacation to anybody it was a vacation from hell .we had so many issue and was very disappointed considering that it was a Hyatt I wouldn’t send or recommend this to know one and I feel that Hyatt should take a wrecking ball to this resort

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Amazing Resort!

The resort is very beautiful. The staff very friendly and always ready and willing to help in any way they could. Room service very efficient and fridge was stocked at all times. Maid service was very efficient. The food in every restaurant was very delicious . The beach very beautiful. We are definitely going back. We would most certainly recommend this Resort .

This place is a little dated, but comfortable. Very clean. Had to call service once for air conditioning. They were on-site within the hour. Most personnel were efficient and easy to deal with. Ocean was clear and very swimable. Nightly entertainment was nothing to write home about, typical low end resort entertainment. I am a bit of a picky eater. That being said, the variety of food offered each day needs to vary. The food offered at the buffet, was constant and not that good. Salad bar was the same every night. Unfortunately I couldn't eat what they offered. Dessert every night was pudding or dense cake. We tried a couple of the alacart restaurants. Although they say there menu does not vary, what you get, and what you asked for did not necessarily correspond. Bar service was not always looked after with the best of intentions. So let's start with some bartenders not listening to what you ask for and you end up with something you don't want or can't drink. There are not enough drinking glasses at this resort, to handle the needs. Several times bars were without bartenders, because they were out looking for glasses. The most popular bar bar during supper hours and evening, several evenings had 1 only bartender and lines 10 -15 deep. Check in and out was very easy, no issues. There were no beach hustlers , which was enjoyable for a change. As far as rating this resort, can't give it more than 4 stars.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Lovely resort

We had a wonderful vacation at Sunscape Curaçao Resort (three adults and two teenagers). Don't be scared by the negative reviews. One of the most beautiful beaches I've been to for swimming and snorkeling. They have designated smoking areas appreciated by anyone bothered by the scent of cigarettes and cigars at the beach. There is always something good to eat at the buffet. I highly recommend Da Mario for dinner, and the fish tacos at the Bluewater Grill. The situation with the birds is only ba [... read more]d when people feed the pigeons at the Bluewater Grill, an open air restaurant right by the sea. The tiny birds that managed to get through the mesh inside the main buffet usually remain in the trees and plants around the restaurant. The buffet is somewhat understaffed, but they're doing their best to wait on everyone. The staff was friendly and nice to talk to. Plenty of fun activities are available for the whole family. The entertainment staff is hard working and so friendly. Our rooms were spacious, quiet and clean. The only issue was the bar fridge not being refilled each day. I would get bottles of water from the bar and take them to my room. We spent half a day visiting Willemstad. You can take a bus across the street for $2 US. There are colourful murals everywhere, and don't miss walking across the Queen Emma Pontoon Bridge. We all had a fantastic time and will come back to this resort for certain.

Highly recommend to visit Curaçao island for many different reason, very safe with welcoming local people. You won’t see big resorts or big commercial developments, it is modern but kept its originality of being small island. Sunscape resort is close to everything, $2 ride to down town or walking distance to popular beach for party. Resort staff are very friendly, food is good, and resort have scuba diving shop. Sunscape Curacao Resort: Nice resort

It was our first time in Curaçao. Sunscape has a nice beach and pools. The staff is very friendly and polite. The rooms are clean but dated. The elevator has a glass wall and no fan or A/C. Was extremely hot inside. The food was OK, not much of variety but fresh. Nobody got sick. Inside the buffet was very hot. We would suggest to install a few fans there and in the lobby. Overall everything was fine.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Resort is paved with good intentions

Hotel, food, beach were good per se But hear me out. Beach sellers/peddlers were literally harassing us since it was pretty quite on week days. I literally had to pay for a pedicure to get the lady to stop harassing me. we ended up staying at the pools BUT On Weekends the resort filled up with locals. It was chaos. Buffets were being abused and staff couldn't keep up. Multiple line ups overall not enjoyable. Noise and partying late into the nights. 3-4 AM. On week days it was aw [... read more]esome. The gucho grill was amazing. Staff overall amazing. We spent 2 weekends out of our 10 days and both weekends were a nightmare.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Very nice resort and well maintained.

Beautiful, well maintained grounds. Beautiful white sandy beach, great for sunbathing or taking long walks along the water edge. Dining rooms are clean and nice. The staff always polite, friendly and accommodating. Cafe Coco - nice coffe bar. The only thing: bathroom washbasin was slightly clogged and the water was draining very slowly.

Pro’s: not too big of a resort but spacious enough. All hotel staff incredibly hospitable. Always clean areas. Grounds are nicely maintained. Good variety of food. The young guy who does all the MC’ng at the entertainment and pool is very charming and a great host. Definitely good size beach and activities to do. Good excursions. Some meals better than others. Disco DJ constantly played the same music and it was all over the place with genre’s. Not a good flow. Pools were a great size. Lobby was nice but no “wow” factor. Could use some colour. Wifi only good in lobby but who cares when you are on vacation anyway. All in all we met some great ppl. DO THE CITY TOUR. It was amazing!! We were so relaxed while on the resort and felt welcome by all the staff.

Back from 14 perfect days! So, arrival at airport, the Exchange Center changed our Canadian dollars to Pesos at 34. Upstairs in departures the Exchange Center was 37. The TD bank here was 33. I didn’t have a chance to use the ATM at the plaza mall, did anyone note their exchange rate? Beach- perfect, water is warmer at the Gran Vantana due to the black bottom grassy area. Beer is $5 a small bottle, it’s where the buggy’s and horses stop when on excursions. Buffet is good after 9:45, no bacon, maybe if you ask. Buffet at lunch always has fresh fish. Make a fish burger with the homemade bread, local tomatoes and cucumbers. Avoid the mayonnaise unless in a packet, so many people, wife included had belly issues after. Supper at buffet hit and miss, international night was spectacular at 6:30, not sure how well the food ages. Coco cafe was our go to for hot water for our licorice tea in the morning and sandwiches for our long hikes, donuts after supper. The pool bartenders are above and beyond and deserve as many tips as you can afford. Our room, building 11, 2nd floor facing the pool was perfect. Hand shower, king bed, new tv with HDMI - USB for playing movies. I brought our android box and connected to a SIMM card from the plaza. FYI when at the plaza and if you mention you are looking for the phone store for a card everyone “claims” they are a dealer and will disappear for a few minutes and return with one. You end up paying extra. We paid $30, it should of been $20 for 10 days. There is only one dealer store and many pretend dealers. Best to go to Jumbo where there is a Claro dealer store by checkout. We walked out to the main road, 1km, and got a guagua. 1990 toyota vans or similar with the door missing. You pay $1USD and they take you into town. Letters A,B,C go past Jumbo then different routes. Letters DEF are outgoing towards the airport. Safe and easy, no stops, just stand and wave when you see the letter in the windshield. Between 11 and 2 is less crowded. Leave $5cnd in the fridge with a note for beer and see what happens! We’ll be back next year.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Resort was amazing

The resort was so nice and the staff was super friendly. Made so many extra accommodations for my kids and our large group. The grounds are extremely well kept and the beach area was very clean. The coco cafe staff was great, always remember our drink orders as soon as we came in. Such an amazing time and trip. Shea was amazingly helpful with the booking and the entire trip made it just perfect.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Great Resort and Amazing Staff!

We went as a group of 10 friends during the week of April 16 2023 and had an amazing time. We upgraded to the SunClub and it was worth it. The check in process was quick and easy, the rooms were clean, the beach was absolutely beautiful. And since it was in a bay, you could swim in the mornings no problem without big waves. The staff was super polite, friendly, and always helpful. Not the biggest resort but it turned out to be better because everything was close by.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Needs updating

The hotel was very clean, but needs major updating. The buffet was very disappointing, service was slow, was was so repetitive and bland. Some staff were very friendly. The Italian restaurant was horrible, we didn’t find one person who liked it, we ended up eating at the buffet. We ate out several nights at Mambo beach. I would strongly recommend Dreams resort food and hotel were amazing. Overall weather was great.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Will not go back to this resort

The resort is really rundown and the food was very poor. Paid more money to get ocean view room instead I got a corner room pool view. Very disappointed took three day to change my room and did not get what I paid for.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: We had a great vacation!

The trip was seamless from beginning to end. The Staff were incredible: attentive, welcoming and fun. The entire resort was very clean, rooms were spotless and all common areas were cleaned regularly.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: So So

The resort was passable. However we found it dated. The room was adequate. The food was limited. E.G. they ran out of bacon and eggs every morning. They had to constantly have to be asked to bring plates, silverware, and glasses for juices. I twisted my knee on the 3rd day and ended up using a broom handle as a walking aid as they didn't have crutches, canes or wheel chairs. Never had beef for the 1st 4 days. The water in room was lukewarm at best

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Nature’s Paradise

A beautiful, clean, well maintained resort. The Staff are Super friendly! As a nature lover it was amazing each morning to wake up to a symphony of birds singing. The Mangrove inlet with the birds, turtles and fish was a different scene each day. The beach is great for early morning hiking. Loved it!

If you are looking for a peaceful relaxing vacation with great people and a vibrant landscape this is the place for you. The food was good but if you value fine dining at the top of your vacation list..this is not the place for you. Sunscape Curacao Resort: Amazing Beach

The resort is dated. The beach is beautiful. Understaffed but very friendly. Entertainment staff very energetic and try to engage ages of all levels. Room was kept clean and mini bar stocked daily. Food was mediocre at best, very repetitive and limited selection. Not likely to return to this resort but no regrets going this time.
