Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Liked it

Resort is clean comfortable it was our 3rd time there in a year we know all the staff they make us feel welcome and go the extra mile for us, there is always ways to improve but that goes for any resort. We will go back

A few positive comments The chicken was quick and easy the rum is really really nice large airy and the linens were lovely. also, the staff were helpful very kind and sweet. Unfortunately, I found the food to be almost cafeteria style with some items that were in edible. Meet items for instance. Generally the fish was OK but nothing seem to have any spice or much taste. However, the alternative was to sit at the pool, which if you hadn’t been there by 6 o’clock in the morning was impossible to get a chair as two older couples trave Ing together the music was endless, sound loud and quite unpleasant. Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Party Resort

The hotel is very clean, rooms are comfortable with large Smart flatscreen tv. A few English channels. If you like loud music playing until 11:00, foam pool party, white night and silent night parties then this is the place for you. If you want to wind down with some peace, go somewhere else. Block 4 and 5 hotel rooms are very noisy, it sounds like the party is in your room. Buffet is ok. A la cartes are much better with excellent service and tasty food and nice wines or beer. Viva Dominicus Palace by Wyndham: 5 star Beach & Beautiful property

This property has the most wonderful beaches! You can snorkel by just walking into the ocean and looking down into the crystal clear water :) great combination of soft sand vs. coral areas with lots of fish. We brought our own goggles and snorkels. They also have several great pools between the Palace and Beach properties. The oceanside infinity pool was lovely. The Palace buffet was our favourite, we tried several a la carte’s - the Mexican one was the best. La Creperie and smoothies from the Tiki bar were delicious. La Trattoria was great for late night, wood-fired, fresh pizza. We had a top floor, ocean front room in Building 59 - perfect location to access the sister resorts & so close to the beach we could hear the waves…

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Mostly a great experience

Hotel grounds, beach, pool and rooms were well maintained. The only issues we ran into were around the reception staff. We booked a king size bed and we’re forced into a room with 3 double beds. We arrived at 1pm and were told we could check in at 3 we came back at 3 and they said our room wasn’t ready. They told us 5-10 minutes. We waited 45 then they took us to a room we didn’t book. When we tried to correct it at the desk, the manager said they couldn’t make it work and was visibly annoyed we [... read more] asked to have our room changed. Entertainment, bar staff and maids were exceptional! We used Hector the Protector to book our excursions and we saved so much and had an amazing time!

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Missed the Ocean

February 6 to 13, 2024. We were really pleased with almost everything about this resort. Our room was awesome- 4107, as it faced a green space and the ground floor terrace was relatively private. We had a large room (Amnesia Jr Suite) with the most comfortable queen size mattresses and pillows. The main restaurant had lots of variety and an abundance of food. My husband and I both ha [... read more]d some mobility issues and so I was not pleased that the Sunwing rep meeting took place on a second level. Not accessible for us. The BIG DISAPPOINTMENT was where the beach was located, over a 15 minute walk for my husband, using a walker. I travel south to swim in the ocean. There was only a very small area marked off by bouys, and knowing that the ocean was a sudden deep, with the rough water, there would be rip currents...there WAS NO LIFEGUARD. I will not swim in the ocean with no lifeguard present. Hence, there were no more visits to the beach. I don't do pools because of chemicals, so this was a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. The evening entertainment, though I heard it was excellent, it did not start until 9:45pm. This was getting late for us. Plus the daily activities were not posted anywhere, so we missed a number of events that I would have participated in. The weather was terrific and I did not have to plan, prepare or clean up after meals. That is my second reason for going south. VIVA Heavens scored 100% on that.

Viva Maya by Wyndham: Top choice

Arrived at the hotel in about 1hr from the Cancun airport. The check in was smooth and organized - no time wasted there. The premises are clean with well defined signs to guide your first day on site. Arrived late at night but the buffet at the pool offered quite a variety of food for the hungry traveler. The rooms are clean and modern. The safe at no charge was an added bonus. The food at the A la Carte and buffet was excellent with top notch presentation(s) and good variety for all taste [... read more]s. The staff is courteous and helpful. Plenty of entertainment across the resort at different times of the day. The only dislike is the extreme noise level at rooms close to the main stage.

My family and I had a great time at this resort. It met most of our expectations for the price we paid. Positives: Smaller resort, family friendly, friendly staff, great grounds and surrounding area Negatives: Buffet food options can be repetitive, music goes into the night but didn't bother us, beach was quite wavy

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Good stay

Great trip overall. Friendly helpful staff. Wish we could have swam in the ocean which was impossible due to high waves and lots of moss. As well, wish there was better variety with the food. Would return back though !

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: You can tell between 3.5 to 4.0 star

They should have more covered spaces in order to avoid the rainy weather, room’s air conditions renovation ( noisy ) . Restaurants are clean however food quality must be ameliorated. Very generous and very nice staff…I take this opportunity to recommend the reception supervisor ( Miguel ) for his customer service professional skills…He made our stay enjoyable…

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Viva Heavens - January 2024

Several restaurants (Mexican, Dominican, Italian, French). Food was a little hit or miss (even the same place, and same dish between 2 nights). The hits were fantastic, but some of the food was inconsistent. (Always something to eat of course). The buffet which is always an option was quite good with a lot of variety. It always had a “custom option” which was generally worth waiting for. (Omelettes in the morning, sometimes freshly cooked burgers or turkey). Be aware… Lots of walking (stairs t [... read more]o the rooms and the path to the beach). Very friendly staff! Being a smaller resort it’s easy to get to know them. The beach was super nice. The included options to go for a catamaran, boogie board, wind surf, etc. was very good. Mall was a 5 minute walk away (ATM, liquor and many touristy shops). Room was good. AC was sufficient. The safe in the room malfunctioned a couple of times requiring us to call the desk, but they were prompt in getting things sorted out. It was helpful to know a little bit of Spanish, but not required by any means. Overall a very good stay.

Viva Tangerine by Wyndham: Good 3-Star Resort

PROS: 1. The best part about this resort was the beach! Waves were rough (kids enjoyed). You can walk along the beach for quite a distance, especially on the one side past the rocks. 2. Close to a town to buy souvenirs. 3. Kite surfing. 4. Lunch buffet was the best meal (pasta, rice, beans, soup, bread). Mexican and Italian restaurants were better than the dinner buffet. CONS: 1. Rooster crowing repeatedly every morning before 7:00 am. 2. FOOD. At breakfast, the omelettes are always r [... read more]unny and not cooked through. All of the desserts and pastries were no good. Snack bar is the same everyday. 3. DRINKS. Tried many of them but they aren’t that good. 4. Rooms need maintenance. Our room only had hot water between 4:00-6:00 pm. Bathroom doorknob was broken. Air conditioner was loud. Two water bottles for three people. 5. Poor/little entertainment. 6. Location of the resort is far from excursions near Puerto Plata. Be prepared for more than 1 hour travel times. RECOGNITION & GRATITUDE: -Clarivar Perez (sp?) – sweetest housekeeper for block 23! -Ralfina the bartender - very good to us and the kids. Friendly and makes the best drinks! Café Café server – hard worker! RECOMMEND -Waterfall and Monkeyland excursion (snorkelling was disappointing) OVERALL We knew what we were getting into for the price and from other reviews. It’s a 3 to 3.5 star hotel. You will enjoy if you know what to expect. We still had a good time. Weather was fantastic. We did not have locals on the weekend and they never ran out of food which we were worried about.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Great value for a relaxing week

Viva Heavens was a great stay with good accommodations and decent food. The beach was nice and not too far away, with various activities set up like beach volleyball. The buffet had some variety between the days to keep things fresh, but the bookable restaurants were a bit lacking and didn't serve anything super special. There wasn't a huge jump in quality between the buffet and the restaurants. The rooms were fairly sized, but could use some work. Many of the rooms lacked properly locking wi [... read more]ndows and balcony doors. This is especially concerning if you are on the first floor. Mosquitos around the resort were also problematic and we were thankful that we brought mosquito repellent. In the evening, loud music from the pool area can go on until after midnight. Some of the rooms are facing the pool area and are impacted directly by this. The resort is a short distance away from downtown Puerto Plata and the attractions there. A guided tour of the city takes an afternoon and is one of many excursions that are offered for an extra price. I would recommend taking the city tour as it's a great way to see the hustle and bustle of the Dominican outside of the Playa Dorada resort area. Overall, the resort was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. It was a great value for a relaxing week in the Dominican Republic.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Great Vaca

We had a great stay at Viva Heavens, love that it is a smaller resort with plenty to do, beautiful beach at the ocean, turquoise water and great rooms. The food was really good. Accommodates vegan and vegetarian and everything else. Everyone was so polite and kind.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Animation Team was Amazing!

We were very happy to stay at Viva Wyndham. It was my partners first resort experience and the animation team made it such an enjoyable experience for him. They truly take their job seriously while having a blast doing it. They are all incredibly talented and we will never forget them! Thank you guys!

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Loved it!

My 14 year old daughter and I went to this resort on New Yers Eve. Check in was very easy, staff at the front desk were amazing. Got to our room and was shocked as it was a very nice and big room. We proceed to go explore the resort (it was 11pm) and they had a huge tent so for NYE and very classy! Fireworks along with champagne, it was very well done. Viva Tangerine by Wyndham: Great Small Resort

We had a fabulous time. The weather was great, the beach was busy but beautiful. It is the kite surfing beach. The rooms were dated but for the purpose of sleep, they were just right. The buffet and al a cart were okay. The Mexican and Italian were fantastic. The buffet had regular local foods but it was also Americanized. The pool was well maintained and the grounds were clean. So this did get a little busy at certain times of the day. Overall I would recommend if you like small resorts.

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: not the same

Second visit. First was in 2017 when the hotel was new. We loved it on first visit but disappointed this time. The beach is still fantastic and the food was great but the rooms have been neglected and the hotel became noisy with all the evening entertainment. Service is random and chaotic. I would agree with 4-star rating six years ago but now is rather 3-star.

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Great quaint adults only resort

It was our first time at this resort and found it very nice, quiet and relaxing. It's a small resort where everything is easy and quick to get to. Our room was 3301 which is right by the buffet, lobby and lobby bar. The room was a newer room and it was one of the best rooms we've ever had in all our years of traveling (23 yrs). The beach was very nice, the water was not calm at all that week (like in some pics we've seen online where the water was very calm and clear). There were som [... read more]e crazy waves which made it fun but you always had to be on guard or you'd get hit and knocked over and in no time you'd be under water so there was no relaxing in the water. It has a great beach to walk long distance on. It rained 4 days out of the full 6 days we were there and our last 2 full days, my husband got sick from the food. His second day being sick he went to the medical center on the resort. They hooked him up to IV fluids with meds, did blood work, urine and fecal tests to make sure he was ok to fly back home. All tests came back negative so they figured it was something he ate. We believe it was the Caesar salad from one of the a-la-carte restaurants we ate at the night before he got sick. We ate the same food except for that. The medical staff were awesome and very knowledgeable. They would come to our room and check on the IV, change it and give him more meds (thank you Dr. Ana Santos and nurse Luisa). The food is so-so, you don't go hungry and neither do the cats. If you don't like animals around you when eating, this place may not be for you. The buffet and the one outdoor a-la-carte restaurant has cats that hang out around the tables. We are not pool people so can't really comment about the pool. We would most likely return to this resort at some point.

A beautiful resort right on the ocean. Multiple pools with ample lounge chairs/sunbeds/table seating. Lots of loungers on the beach in a beautiful semi-shaded palm grove too. Great buffet & a variety a la carte options . Tennis/beach v-ball/table tennis/ foosball/board games all available. Drawbacks? Good Wifi, but limited to common areas/pool deck. Nothing in rooms. Not a lot of hot water. Shower early in the day. Only one main bar continuously open. Line-ups occurred at peak times in the day.  [... read more]Bring your own Yeti to fill.
