Ok resort

great staff the rest of resort ok food not great rooms have very small beds . ask for new room with king checked out of ours .checked back in and got a new room ended up same bed.area is very good. overall wont stay again. still had good time beach is very good.

Great Resort

A little on the older side, but clean and comfortable. Lots of pools, bars and restaurants - no waiting for anything. Close walk to Bucerias for great restaurants, entertainment, beach bars and more

Third amazing visit!

This was mine and my wife's third visit to the Royal Decameron Complex. This time we brought our 13 and 14 year old daughters for a surprise trip. Everything about the trip and the resort was amazing! The staff are all so friendly, the beach is beautiful and the other guests are so pleasant. It is an older resort and this shows but it adds to the charm in my opinion. Its large, sprawling and you never feel crowded. 100% will return many more times over the years.

Lovey, clean resort!

This hotel is beautifully kept, colourful. Service is great. The pools, bars and restaurants near block 5 seem to be the least busy. We travelled over the busy New Years week and never had to wait for a table, a chair, or a drink. We dined at three specialty restaurants and the food was ok. Beds are hard. Hard to get a hot shower.... Hallways and noise from other rooms is kind of loud. The area of Bucerias it is in is fantastic. Unforgettable xmas vacation

The resort was amazing so many activities for the whole family and well looked after on a daily basis. The food was plentiful and so many different options.loved the omelette station for breakfast and the Italian Al a carte was delicious. Beach and pools were amazing and always lots of beach chairs available. My only negative was the beds they were very firm could do with new mattresses as this is what a lot of guests were saying. Great Trip for Price

We have been going to the Royal Decameron for 15+ years now. ROOMS: While they have made some minor upgrades, I wouldn't go into it expecting too much. Wifi is still only available in the two lobby areas and the rooms (while clean) could use an upgrade. The beds are on the harder side but if you request they will put a foam topper on when you check in. If you want to be close to the beach but away from the noise, I recommend building 3 if you can request it. Building 5 (adults only) and 6 ar [... read more]e farther back from the beach but offer a more quiet space. Pool 1 is the party pool so if you are looking for that, building 1 or 2 is the place for you. FOOD: Hit and miss, some you want to go back for seconds, others you don't finish. They have reservations at numerous dinner spaces if you don't want to do the buffet. I highly recommend the Japanese restaurant, our favourite. Snack bar is always stocked with fresh chips and guac. ENTERTAINMENT: We have been to a variety of locations throughout Mexico and the entertainment crew here is by far the best. They practice every day for 5+ hours, have a large amphitheatre for performances and between the costumes and talent they are always amazing to watch. They also have a variety of shows so if you are staying more than 1 week you will likely not see the same one twice. While the shows are always family friendly, they do start a 9:30pm so keep in mind if you have young kids. They also have different activities throughout the day that you can participate in and a kids club program for the young ones. SERVICE: All members of staff that we interacted with, from maids and groundskeepers to management at check in, they are ALL very friendly and will do their best to accommodate your requests. In the end it is not the most luxurious place so if you are looking for that go elsewhere. If you're looking for a place that is budget friendly that still offers you a relaxing enjoyable trip, or if you are a family, this is a perfect place.

Gone down since 2yrs ago

As usual the staff were exceptional. We found that food quality has gone down abit since our last stay in 2017. We like block 5 building as there were no children in this block 2 yrs ago. Not now. Children and partying going on till early mornings. Not all nights, but last 4 nights put a damper on previous 10 days. Still can't beat location to Bucerias and all it's amenities.

Great beach,staff,location,grounds. Basic rooms. Food so so. In 15 years of going to this resort I can say very little has changed. Same cushions on the chairs, same furniture in the rooms which are becoming very dated. Food quality has dropped dramatically.

Comfortable and safe resort

We have been to this resort a total of 18 times. My only complaint is with wifi. Should have in all rooms. Rooms are very clean and service is good. This resort appeals to all ethnic groups. When you are there. You feel very safe . Some staff remember you from previous visit and also is amazing that they remember your names. Very friendly.

Resort is truly only a 3 star resort.

We arrived late on November 23, 2019 and instantly realized that we were receiving an inferior room and that the people at the front desk could not speak adequate English.Our Transat tour operator guide(Jorge Garcia) was truly uninterested in assisting us with information about the Royal Decameron Complex. Awful, awful, awful food, especially at the restaurants.We are NOT fussy eaters, but this resort has really gone downhill since last we were there. We went on no trips at all, except to the Puerto Vallarta Mercado, which was also terrible. No Mexicans seemed to want to deal on their prices at all. We were not treated well, not fed well,prices in and around Vallarta are way over priced now, because of the cruise ships.We have TRULY been disappointed for the last time in Puerto Vallarta and will never return. I hope that our story is not indicative of others that Trip Central has sent people to vacation at. The Royal Decameron resorts(We were told) have all been recently purchased by the country of Colombia.It seems to be operated as poorly as the Colombian Government(Third rate). Was great activities. Great staff .. . However food and other things could be reviewed

Overall I was pretty happy with the resort. There were a few things that stuck out that I was not happy with. 1. Housekeeping was not done on a daily basis. I was told that to leave tips so I would get better service for housekeeping, I am a single Grandma who had a nephew and Grandson with her I was saving money for excursions and other local vendors. I felt that I should not have to tip the housekeeping it is all inclusive. Same as above for tipping, when going to the restaurants, even if it was Buffet. I tip a few times, but try to save money for excursions and vendors for souvenirs. When we did not tip our faces were recognized, well at least this is what I felt, that the service was not there. There was a few times that we had to wait for a drink of water for well over a half hour, and the place was not busy. or even to be greeted. 3. The food was repetitive even throughout the separate buffets. However there was days for special events. Such as Mexican, international,. Overall the food was pretty good. 4. The staff were immensely friendly and professional, 5. Lots of pools, lots of beach space, not overcrowded, great events throughout the day. 6. Very central location, could walk down to Market, walked uptown to bank, walk Uptown to grocery store, and short cab trips or Shuttle trips to excursions. 7. Transat representatives were not clear on Excursion cost. I'm not sure if this was a communication barrier, or not all information was divulged prior to paying in full. With sign up and pay for the Excursion. And then was told had to pay for a cab anything over three people, and other fees such as porting and ecetera. it was explained to us when we went to the Royal swim with the dolphins and the zip lining and water slides that we would have free food and beverages. This was not the case. Only adults received coupons for free food and beverage, as children under 12 were free, lucky we had money on us to buy food and beverages. In addition we are also lucky we had money on us because we were told we could have the cab ride home for free because we paid the first one going there but this was not the case they would only take three people and then they'd have to give us another taxi in which we had to pay. 8. The shows were Grande, always something new entertainment kept you on the edge of your seat had you got laughing. 9. Very well cultured Gardens and area well-groomed and clean grounds. 10. Overall I would provide the stay a 7 out of 10

Third time going back to RDC

We stayed Oceanfront. The A/C needs to be updated but they did give us a fan to help us sleep. The room was clean and well maintained during our stay. Checking in was quick and some helped us take our luggage to our room. The food was good but the bacon needed to be a bit more Cooked. We eat at all the restaurants and the best was the Rodizeo this time. We loved eating at the piccolo that was another good time since we eat there 3 times. Loved the lady making my sandwiches. Can’t wait to come back.

Great place, lots of variety, close to Bucerias

Blocl 1' oceanfront was great location. Food was good, room was clean, plenty of choive in pools. Limimg up at 7 am to book an a la carte restaurant was no fun. Bring pesos for tipping. Internet kicks out after 30 min and to resign in again.

Okay resort

Grounds are very nice, beautiful beach, pools are great, no bar in pools. rooms basic, but clean. food not so good, ala cartes are average, limited menu. drinks are average. nice area, amazing massages just outside gate of resort, there is a small massage place, wow, 250 pecos WORTH EVERY PENNY. If your looking for luxury, not the place. But we paid $1000 canadian each, so for that price we cannot complain

Good Resort

This resort is great as all is close the beach is amazing ! The bar often ran out of baileys and gin and would not have more till the next day a bummer to rush to get some while it’s left :( the big disappointment was the food and the a la cart for the same money I have had much better the staff was nice but very pushy to get tips example they will look and touch move the tip basket give you your drink and look and move it again as if to say I want a tip on every drink and when you do if it’ [... read more]s not enough they make you feel it’s not enough with the look on there face we are not cheap but when I give 20 pesos 1.40$ CAN and get the disappointment look I stopped tipping all together at that point I was insulted but over all it was ok for the money but I would have paid 200$ more for a better selection of food no steaks only steak was a flank steak it was good but not the best and you can only book your a la carts 2 days at a time the problem is it a cattle call to book at 8 am as get ready to wait in line for 45 min in the hot sun to try and hope to get what you want was not well set other resorts have a concierge at every building for this so no wait at this resort 2 people for 5 or 6 buildings all in all was good but with not much change in the food this place could be amazing I don’t think I will go back unless there is a change pics we looked at show nice steak and sea food the waiter said they stoped that I guess to save money so I was disappointed you will not get the great food you see in review pics keep that in mind if you don’t care for the food and it’s not important to you you will love this place I am not trying to dog this place at all but there is room for much improvement when looking at place the same price I was a flight attendant so have seen many places to understand what I was getting/ entertainment was great very nice shows

100% amazing resort

The resort was awesome don’t think I’ll go to another resort the people are so friendly the service is great they always made sure the rooms where always clean.. and pool deck always clean never dirty food was great drinks where good the bartenders where awesome and so where the waitresses...

Awesome Resort!

This was our fourteenth time to this resort. We love the Mexican feel that this resort gives to us. The bright colors, the Mexican themes, and the warm and comfortable feeling of staying there. The grounds are beautiful and well manicured. The beach is nice as well. There are vendors that walk around selling clothes, hats and jewellery. Very satisfied customer

I'm a Caribbean guy and the trip to Puerto Vallarta was my first experience with the Pacific side of beautiful Mexico. No regrets what so ever! Great place, great food, great stuff and great beach. Thinking to go back for exploring more. Thanks to the stuff for the excellent job!

Excellent place for a family

Spent a wonderful week with my family at the resort. Clean and very well maintained. Stuff is awesome and they respond to your needs immediately. Great sandy beach. Lots of activities. Food is very good. Honestly I was surprised to get what I got there for the price I had paid. Que excelente trabajo, amigos!!! Muchas gracias.

Good Resort

It's our first time staying at the Royal Decameron Complex. It's a good resort with 6 buildings and 5 swimming pools. We stayed at the block 5 next to the adult pool, it was nice and quite. A few a la carte restaurants, but you need to get up early to make reservations for the day and the next day. Space can be booked up fast, so get in line early to avoid disappointments. 2 buffet restaurants are good enough if you can't get the reservation at the a la carte. As for the menu, lots of meats [... read more] and veggies, not much seafood. Room is clean, but without the mini refrigerator and hard liquor dispenser like the other resorts we stayed before. However, you will get bottles of water each day, and the bars are just a few steps away. Non-motor water sports are included, you can take the kayak out without any time restrictions. Local market Bucerias is a 15 mins walk from the resort or you can bus to downtown PV for 45 pesos, taxi is about 350-400 pesos, Uber is around 300 pesos. Lots of options for tours, check online for pricing and reviews before booking. The WIFI is only available in the main lounge and the check-in area by block 4, so get a cell data plan if u want wifi in the room. There is NO option from the resort for wifi in the room. There is a Walmart like store 5 mins walk from the resort, good place to pick up things you need. In room safe is about 50 pesos a day, pay and get the key from the cashier at check in if u need one. There is a massage place 1/2 block away, you can get 1 hour massage for 250 pesos, so it is very helpful after a long day of tour or walking around downtown. This resort has a mix of tourists from US, CAN, and the majority were local Mexicans. Nightly entertainment was good, check the listings at the main lobby for info. Overall experience for us at the resort was good. It doesn't have everything a 5 star resort offers, but for a 3 1/2 or 4 star resort, it is okay.
